SCP-XXXX undergoing transportation to Site-19 in a hermetically sealed chamber.

Assigned Site Site Director Research Head Assigned Task Force
Site-19 J. Karlyle Aktus Dr. Stephen Miller Beta-7 ("Maz Hatters")

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is to be held in a hermetically sealed humanoid containment chamber. Under no circumstances are personnel to come into direct physical contact with SCP-XXXX, nor are they to remove it from containment without adequate Personal Protective Equipment and express authorisation from O5 Command. Staff deemed to be in violation of this rule are to be promptly terminated, and their remains incinerated. In the event of a catastrophic containment breach, Site-19 is to undergo immediate lockdown and infected areas quarantined. MTF Beta-7 "Maz Hatters" are then to enter the quarantine zones to facilitate sterilisation of the site and termination of infected individuals.

Warning: Following Incident XXXX-01, an armed security detail is to be present outside SCP-XXXX's containment unit at all times.

Description:

corpse2

SCP-XXXX in containment.

SCP-XXXX is the corpse of a 14th century Parisian male showing signs consistent with stage 2 decomposition. Given that SCP-XXXX is over 600 years old, how or why the corpse has not undergone further decay is unknown. On-site medical staff have concluded that SCP-XXXX’s most likely cause of death to be a combination of blunt force trauma to the head and severe 4th-degree burns across its back. An anti-semitic slur has been etched into the abdomen, with the resultant bruising indicating this was done ante-mortem. Foundation historians have theorised that SCP-XXXX was murdered due to the Christian persecution of the Jewish populace admist the onset of the Bubonic Plague, although SCP-XXXX shows no indications of infection at the time of death. SCP-XXXX's skin possesses a pale hue that often occurs post-mortem due the accumulation of hydrogen sulphide produced by decaying organic matter. Due to putrefaction, its abdomen is distended, and numerous blisters can be found across its body. Those in the presence of SCP-XXXX report a general feeling of "wrongness" whilst in its proximity. It is currently unknown if this emotive response is a result of SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties, or simply due to the distressing nature of its appearance. Of note, however, is the fact that all personnel experience this fear response, irregardless of prior desensitisation from working with cadavers.

Despite light microscopy revealing the skin of SCP-XXXX to be sterile, an individual will contract an anomalous strain of Yersinia pestis, henceforth designated as SCP-XXXX-1, after direct physical contact with the body. Close proximity to SCP-XXXX without adequate Personal Protective Equipment has also been shown to result in infection. Onset of symptoms typically occur between 1 to 7 days post exposure. To date, all attempts at curative treatment, anomalous or otherwise, have been met with failure. SCP-XXXX-1 demonstrates extreme antibiotic resistance, and thus far has been resistant to all known antibiotic medication. The mechanisms behind SCP-XXXX-1's antibiotic resistance are believed it be anomalous due to the lack of efflux pumps, drug-inactivating enzymes, or any other mechanism known to confer resistance.

Once an individual has become afflicted with SCP-XXXX-1,

Discovery:

SCP-XXXX was brought to the Foundation’s attention when a news station reported a localised epidemic in Paris, wherein an individual had contracted a novel strain of the bubonic plague seemingly resistant to all forms of conventional treatment. What followed was the prompt lockdown and quarantine of the hospital due to number of hospital staff contracting the disease. MTF Beta-7 "Maz Hatters", operating under the guise of the World Health Organisation, were immediately deployed to trace potential avenues of infection and prevent a potential globalised pandemic. Friends and family members of infected individuals were detained and placed in quarantine.

The following interrogation of Patient Zero revealed that he was an avid urban explorer, and 3 days prior to the onset of symptoms had been navigating cordoned off areas deep within the Catacombs of Paris, and later confessed to encountering a corpse. When questioned as to why he did not report such findings to the police, he stated he was concerned about the repurcssions due to a past criminal conviction. When asked if he knew the approximate location of the corpse, he stated that he left a trail of string to find his way out, and provided the agents with the location he entered the Catacombs. MTF Beta-7 used the trail to locate SCP-XXXX, and placed it in a hermetically sealed chamber for transportation.

Fortunately, Patient Zero did not leave the house following his exploration until his admission to the hospital. Foundation staff attempted to treat infected individuals with a novel bacteriophage therapy, but were unsuccessful. Due to the increasing violent behaviour of the infected and inherent risk of an XK-Class End-of-the-World scenario, continued attempts at treatment were ceased, and infected individuals were terminated and incinerated, as per protocol concerning Class 5 biological hazards. The hospital remained in quarantine for another 30 days whilst Beta-7 sterilised and deep cleaned the site, and healthy individuals were then released following amnestic treatment. Concurrently, a disinformation campaign was ran that stated the epidemic was a result of a virulent strain of swine flu.

  • Mention SCP-1609 - Maybe it never existed, and was just Foundation propaganda to justify containment over destruction? Maybe almost all termination attempts of SCPs are bullshit?
  • O5 staged a containment breach to kill Miller because of what he found out.
  • Containment breach, Miller framed as a GOC mole?
  • Or Maybe another doctor frames Miller in order to become the new research lead?
