Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a cubical safe made of beryllium bronze identical to the one it was discovered in, the container locked in a room with a viewing window as it lays in the exact center of the room, held up by a pedestal. Only personnel with Level 3 Clearance and higher can access the anomaly. As of now, SCP-XXXX is in possession of Dr. Lynia “Stellar” ███████.
Description: SCP-XXXX, also known as “Hands of the Sufferer” (or “Hauntlets” coined by Dr. Jack Bright), is a pair of black gauntlets adorned with digital and mechanical-esque patterns. The gauntlets are too wide for any standard humanoid to wear naturally. However, when equipped by an entity, the anomaly will force itself onto the subject’s arms and hands, attaching itself perfectly onto them. Once attached, it will enter a state of ‘powering up’ in which a glowing violet plasma-like substance flows through the patterns. The substance is called SCP-XXXX-B, while the gauntlets themselves are SCP-XXXX-A.
Its anomalous properties enable whoever wears them to be able to throw powerful punches that can exert up to 10<sup>9</sup> N. The wearer is also able to hold up entire buildings with relative ease. It can extend over the subject's entire body, though this takes a lot of concentration, energy, and experience. To date, the anomaly has not been damaged in any visible way, and appears to be unable to obtain any blemishes.
One of the more notable properties is that it takes energy from the host and converts it to an unknown plasma-like substance, which is the aforementioned violet substance that flows through the anomaly. The subject is then able to cause the gauntlets to excrete the substance. The plasma is highly corrosive, and as of writing, is able to burn through any and all materials. Doing so appears to take a high amount of energy, so it is advised that the wearer uses this function as sparingly as possible.
The fuel that is needed to charge the anomaly is any source of caffeine (e.g. coffee, chocolate, tea). Due to this, the wearer may end up developing a dependency on caffeinated items.
Currently, the subject bound to the gauntlets is Dr. Stellar, and she has been allowed to keep the anomaly until a method to safely remove them from her is acquired.
Discovery: The item was discovered sometime in the early 2000’s in an abandoned underground crypt, the structure in a state of dilapidation. However, the anomaly were found intact in a safe made of beryllium bronze. A group of excavators found out about the collapsing structure while venturing, phoning local authorities for assistance as one of them had become stuck under a large piece of wall. They had reported that it had depictions of a large titan-like entity, wearing gauntlets on its arms much like Item XXXX-A. Grade B amnestics were registered to the group. Any history about the anomaly is now unachievable, since the crypt had collapsed fully once exit of MTF Zeta-9 "Mole Rats" units and is no longer navigable.
As of November 18, 20██, small parts of SCP-XXXX's history had been uncovered by the bringing of the mentioned anomaly to the destructed crypt. The site was navigable for the duration of fifteen minutes, in which the extraction team had found ancient art on the crumbled walls of the crypt depicting the anomaly as a 'curse to be kept contained'. A nearly-unharmed floor painting had been translated to be the former keeper of the gauntlets being worshipped, contrary to the previous paintings. Dr. Stellar was the leader of the team with the best of Zeta-9 units.
