Page Type: SCP Article

Genre: Historical I guess

Elevator Pitch: Everything in this article pertains to the Gospel of Judas. I would recommend reading it before continuing as I will not explain characters here.

  • A Former Christian sect that worships the “Great Spirit” mentioned in the GoJ is the True God
  • Jesus Christ is actually a messenger
  • “Satan” is a “good guy” in the cults eyes
  • The Christian God is evil
  • small human villages, mostly Christian, are found with self-mutilated bodies and completely insane survivors, as well as very few missing peoples

Central Narrative: As I said before, you should read the Gospel of Judas first. Saklas is in reality the Christian God. Jesus Christ is not his son, but sent from the realm of Barbelo, and is called the Messenger of Barbelo. Yaldabaoth, or the Christian Satan, is responsible for the disappearances. He works for the True God, who, once seen, causes complete insanity (followed by screaming, religious babbling, recitation of religious scripture, or muttering in an unknown language, although some sane survivors occur.) All is these beings are from the Realm of Barbelo, where those who do not go insane when seeing the True God are taken, and somehow “Converted” to following him. This “cult” is very secretive, and is believed to descend from an ancient sect of Christianity mentioned by Heresyologist Ironeas. Members of this cult can be removed, with varying effects of removal such as complete memory loss, fuzzy memory, and spotty memory. Yaldabaoth and Saklas sometimes fight over smal villages, assumed over whether they will remain Christian or be “judged” by the True God. In all affected villages, “Jesus” is reported being seen before villages are “judged.”

Hook/Attention-Grabber: I based this entire premise off of what can be found in the Gospel of Judas, a non canon book of the Bible that was lost for hundreds of years but found in the 1970s. What is said in the Gospel essentially dismantles the Christian understanding of how the universe is structured as well as who God and Jesus is. Let’s just say that if I were still a Christian, if I read the Gospel of Judas, my world would be destroyed.

Additional Notes: I want to incorporate Judas somehow, as he was the only disciple to know who “Jesus” actually was, and is the one who brings up Barbelo and the “True God” initially. I don’t know how I will do this, and am open to suggestions. I am also hoping for ideas on and about pretty much everything about this except the Gospel of Judas, as that is this article’s premise. As I said before, I am open and looking forward to new ideas and critiques.
