Restricting access to the town SCP-4972 inhabits along with establishing a fenced in zone and guard patrols Following That MTF Beta-7 Code Name ("Maz Hatters") will be on stand by for deployment in case of any security issues relating to SCP-4972. Along with this the location of SCP-4972 should be kept to clearance level 4 or above.
Note ( A number or researchers have been forcefully "Ascended" after getting to close to SCP-4972 make sure to keep a solid 10 feet away from SCP-4972 at all times during an interview)

Description: SCP-4972 is a rural town on the outskirts of ██████ it was first discovered when the ██████ government agents had been sent to investigate the disappearance of people and animals from the near by city of ████. SCP-4972 is a town that at the center of it has a large mass of organic tissue that acts as a hive mind, it appears to be a large "blob" of reddish organic muscle. Any human who comes into contact with SCP-4972 seems to lose there consciousness and become an instance of SCP-4972-1A. SCP-4972 does not seem to have malicious intention however it will readily "consume" any living creature supposedly "ascending" them to part of the hive mind. See transcript-1A for conversation between class D personal and The hive mind. SCP-4972's goal seems to be expansion, but it is incapable of violence as of now the origin of SCP-4972 does not seem to be natural or of this reality, one sample of SCP-4972's tissue was retrieved and it match's no known organic material to date, from here on out SCP-4972's anomalous tissue will be referred to as Anomalous Biologically-Organic Material-4972 or simply AB-OM-4972. As for SCP-4972-1A it resembles any human that is "Ascended" how ever all internal organs are turned into AB-OM-4972 and the brain is spliced with AB-OM-4972 the brains cerebellum being replaced almost in its entirety with AB-OM-4972. SCP-4972-1A is incapable of violence like its controller. Along with this SCP-4972-1B resembles the basic form of a grey hound any animal that is "Ascended" will begin rapid mutation into a muscly grey hound with AB-OM-4972 coating it almost like a fleshy armor. SCP-4972-1B is capable of violence but only in defense of SCP-4792. Upon further analysis it has been discovered that SCP-4972 will only respond to being called "The Ascended one" for reasons it will not disclose. Further more SCP-4972 is capable of long conversations how ever it will only Communicate vocally if asked to, otherwise it uses a type of telepathy. A deal has also been made in exchange for SCP-4972 to willingly have conversations with the foundation we will on occasion give it D class personal.
Note #1 (This tends to resolve its self population wise since a few instances of SCP-4972-1A are killed as often as we give them D class personal)
Addendum Alpha-X2
On ███ ████ of ████ a group of Unknown assailants attacked the surrounding containment defenses of SCP-4972, MTF Beta-7 Code name Maz Hatters swiftly beat the strike force back however no living members were recovered, only 4 corpses wearing what seems to be some sort of bio-organic material as armor, the material was recovered and is currently undergoing tests by Dr Desmond Richards. An interview with SCP-4972 was had to determine weather or not it knows anything about this assault, see Interview Video Recording #4 for further details.

Upon inspection of the armor retrieved during the assault on SCP-4972's containment facility i have discovered it is made of a similar but much more stable material that SCP-4972 is made of it also seems to have some sort of anomalous metal lining the inside of it, Further research to continue.
