Item #: SCP-4869
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4869 is to be kept within a 3.05m x 4.58m sealed container comprised from six layers of ballistic glass, each separated by no less than 5cm of open space and held together by magnesium alloy structures. Said container is to be surrounded by light systems capable of flooding the entire assembly with no less than 2,000 lumens to prevent the specimen from passive travel. Within the container should be platforms placed at randomised intervals on all walls and ceiling, each square being 2.5m x 2.5m and comprised of titanium alloy. No sensitive objects or equipment is to be allowed within 0.7m of the container.
Description: SCP-4869 appears to be a male of Korean or East Slavic descent in his mid twenties, 1.58 cm (5'2") tall and 61 kg (136 lbs), with blue eyes and black white hair. The humanoid was found on the grounds outside of Biological Research Area-12 on April ██, ████ and reported by Dr. █████, who was the first to spot it wandering on the surrounding premises.
The specimen appears to be in possession of varied abilities. Noted abilities range from personal to elemental, and it has shown surprising consideration in listing what it can do, going so far as to comply with nearly all tests it is subjected to. Due to its willingness and extensive testing on its capabilities, a list can be viewed below.
SCP-4869 appears to be no more dangerous than any human - it is not inclined to violence, nor does it display habitual tendencies -having been noted to remain in a comatose state voluntarily for a period of sixteen days, afterwards declaring itself "bored of sitting around", and attempting to breach containment- or harboured ill will to the general public. Caution must still be exercised in regards to the specimen, as it possesses the same potential as any human, possibly more so. It has told us very little about its history before being discovered by Dr. █████ but previous interviews attest to SCP-4869 remarking “it was once human”, and “knows that [it] hardly deserves to be called that, anymore.”
While it has been tasked with various experiments, SCP-4869 has not been subjected to combatant testing with live opponents. It expresses that death is not something that it is comfortable committing and would rather avoid being put in those situations.
It has also not been cross-tested with the other SCP on site- Dr. ███ has stated that it is more important to figure out and define the extent of the anomalous ranges and abilities. Whether its regenerative and healing factors can be put to use on human subjects, is one of the things they wish to learn.
SCP Containment Notes:
Due to the wavering focus of the specimen and its nature to become 'bored' when left alone, a container comprised of see-through walls and various platforms was constructed to encourage it to stay in place- the specimen is known to 'slide through' any given material and travel where it pleases, which has a detrimental effect on everything around. Within a 0.7m (2ft) radius, all anomalous objects, substances, and creatures are subjected to disruptions in their functions. This will effect machinery, electronics, and non-anomalous objects with prolonged exposure to being near SCP-4869.
SCP-4869 is not to be allowed near other anomalous objects, substances, or creatures- its reckless behaviour in defying containment and its passive ability will result in havoc if it is to come into contact with a volatile SCP (see; SCP-106, while also exceedingly difficult to contain, it would be catastrophic should SCP-4869 play a part in it being freed), and solitary confinement is highly encouraged.
In so far, while unknown why, a cube-like structure with varied inner 'shelving' appears to be the best countermeasure in keeping SCP-4869 compliant with containment. The glass, while providing protection from its more physical attributes, allows for communication to be established without the risk of equipment malfunction. However, caution must still be exercised and all staff monitoring the interview must remain vigilant should SCP-4869 attempt to breach the confines.
Notes on interesting information:
Dr. █████ was the first SCP Foundation staff to come into contact with the specimen -who has since been screened for potentially harmful changes in behaviour, personality, or physiology, and returned to duty after being fully debriefed and cleared by psychiatric and medical staff- and was the first to establish contact with the entity.
Dr. █████ reported that, at the time, SCP-4869 appeared to be in high distress and unaware of the situation, expressing relief when he approached. He went on to say that it switched through a myriad of languages -most of which were later discovered to be either dead, fictional, foreign to the staff, or seemingly nonexistent- before he even got a word out, and only after did it begin to speak English.
It proceeded to begin “asking for what year it was currently”, turning frantic in its questioning, and in the end begging to be told “what was going on right then and there”.
As Dr. █████ was not trained for containing any SCP, he placed a call for assistance from any of the nearest field containment teams and proceeded to subdue the erratic nature of the specimen.
It is worth nothing that after receiving an answer, SCP-4869 was non-resistant of containment procedures, albeit muttering “subtract one, subtract further, starting now” before complying with the team in 'coming along quietly'.
Along with the off-hand mentions to its true nature, the adamant refusal to share information about itself outside of anything that can aid in containing it, and a quote in an interview stating, “I won't be staying long.” hints at a possibility that SCP-4869 may be capable of time travel, or something similar.
Dr. ███ is looking into trying to learn more about the nature regarding the entity, and had reported that there may be a time limit on how long the Foundation has to learn about it - “It's hard to get a straight answer when the damn [specimen] won't cooperate, but we may be looking at a window of six years -and that's if we're lucky- to continue our research on [it].”
Addendum 4869-1
It has been proven that the field of effect surrounding the specimen (0.7m) causing malfunctions in equipment and disturbances in other objects, causes an additional side effect- objects and anomalous exposed to SCP-4869 for an extended period of time will begin to display signs of aggression and slowly begin to act on this, causing fights with the source (see; SCP-682, who expressed high levels of rage with SCP-4869 in the vicinity) in an attempt to destroy it. None of these incidents have ever escalated to the point of being uncontrollable, which is due in great part to the specimens unwillingness to engage in a fight.
Addendum 4869-2
It should be noted that the known cause and effect of the entity's powers have been tampered with, due to hesitation on its behalf. It hasn't been honest about how it works or what it can do, so we still do not know the full extent to its anomalies. After the incident involving SCP-682 and exposure to seeing how problems were dealt with, SCP-4869 confessed that it could 'toggle' its effects- demonstrating by limiting how severely it affected new machinery exposed to it. Perhaps the specimen isn't entirely aware of how it works, and that is the key to its complete control. More information will be required to understand this new development. — Dr. ███, after SCP-4869 was returned to its cell and requested a brief interview.
Audio log from Interview 07-a:
Interviewer: Dr. ███
Interviewed: SCP-4869
<Begin Log, April ██, 22h:03m>
Dr. ███: Hello, again.
SCP-4869: Hey.
Dr. ███: How are you?
SCP-4869: Fantastic. Just peachy. The service here is ten outta ten.
Dr. ███: Well, I am glad to hear you're settling in—
SCP-4869: [A chair can be heard moving] Oh are you? Really? Gee, that's so kind of you - taking care of me like I'm your new pet.
Dr. ███: [Scoffs, and tries to talk]
SCP-4869: No no, I have a question. It's my time now.
[Silence]
SCP-4869: Great. Just wondering, what is everyone calling me here? Because I know my name -and since none of you asked, it's Maddox Pearce- so what- what uh- wh-what is it, that you- that you would call me? What you consider me as?
Dr. ███: What do you mean?
SCP-4869: Well… like, you have a name. I have a name. But we've never said each others names. So what does that little voice in your head say, when-when you're thinking about me?
Dr. ███: [Pauses] Your classification?
SCP-4869: [Quietly] Mhm.
Dr. ███: Right… you've been processed as SCP-4869.
SCP-4869: Nice.
