SCP–6940
Anarchy chessboard
Classification: safe Euclid

Special Containment procedures:
SCP–6940 Must be kept in a 150 by 150 by 44 meter titanium room. The floor should be able to negate any vibrations caused by SCP-6940 and should exactly have 64 squares that’s being alternated by the colors black and white in a checkered pattern where each square should have 2 meter diameter on all sides. If an instance of SCP-5912-2 growth is ever to be reported. SCP-6940 should be kept locked at it's box at all times unless observation is needed then it is to be opened. In an instance of containment breach caused by SCP-5912, MTF- 17 ”Checkmate” should be dispatched immediately after discovery of containment breach.
(See Incident:B8=Q,E1=Q#)

SCP-5912 is to be monitored daily if there are any instances of SCP-5912-2 are missing. If any SCP-6940-2 instance does go missing it is to be reported immediately to the head researcher of SCP-6940 . In an instance of a missing all personnel in charge of containing SCP-5912 are to stop any observations until the said instance/s is/are found and re contained. Currently it is being kept at Site-█ (see incident: Gambit) for more observations to its behavior. Any observations that are to be conducted are not to exceed 4 games (See Adendum-H1=N)

All personnel that is in charge of containing SCP-6940 should possess a rating above 1600 in the game. And no less than 3 entities are to enter SCP-6940's containment room

In an instance of SCP-6940-2 Containment Breach MTF-17 “Checkmate” are to be dispatched with no less than 17 units. If SCP-6940-2 is located it is to be challenged to a game. If an instance that MTF “Checkmate” drawn or lost the game they should challenge it once again until SCP- 3859 offers a draw or loses.

Description:
SCP-5912 is a box of unknown origin kept in a bag along with a key and a note. The bag used to carry SCP-5912 has no anomalous effects. SCP-6940 arrived at the PO box of Site-77 at ██/██/███ awaiting it's current site where it is currently contained. Following it’s arrival at site-77 researchers opened the box with the key next to it. Upon opening the box, they saw writings engraved inside the box which most of the writings are from unknown origin but some engraved texts were in ancient scripts that matches the scripts found on the discovery site which translates to “A gift for a grandmaster in 1987.” and a board that is believed to be a chessboard as the files were labeled with letters from A to H and rows labeled with numbers 1 to 8. Below the board were the pieces that also resembled the normal modern chess pieces that one would find in a normal set which were Eight (8) pawns for each color, two (2) knights, bishops and rooks for each side. One (1) king and queen for each side. The Box would be reclassified as SCP-6940-Main, the chessboard as SCP-5912-1, and the pieces would be reclassified as SCP-5129-2 with some divisions according to the piece. The pieces resembling Pawns would be SCP-5912-2-1, pieces resembling the bishops and knights would be SCP-5912-2-2, pieces that resembles the rooks and queens would be classified as SCP-5912-2-3, and the pieces resembling kings would be classified as SCP-5912-2-4. Following its SCP designation, it was classified as Safe and any personnel are able to use it but personnel would need a clearance level of level 2 or permission from personnel with level 2 clearance

An observation of SCP-5912 shows that SCP-5912-main is not sentient but SCP-5912-2 are considered as Sentient as it was shown replicating two games on it’s own that upon researching, one of the games shown was played in 1858 by Paul Morphy and Adolf Anderssen where Morphy won that game and the other game was played at 1984 by Eugene Torre and Anatoly Karpov where Torre won that game. Further research also shows that it can replicate any game that was ever played in the past and can also replicate any ongoing games such as the game of two known players who are ███████ and ███████. Which ended in a draw.

After it’s Reclassification and relocation SCP-5912 can grow to it’s giant form and would stay that way for an indefinite amount of time until it is to be challenged and defeated.
(see: B8=Q,E1=Q )

Discovery:
SCP-5912 was discovered in a bag along with a key and a note that warns not to open the box that was first found abandoned in a public park in ██/██/███ at ███████ – Philippines. It was found by a passerby at the park. The passerby said that while he was jogging around the park, he found a medium sized bag that was jumping in its place. It caught his attention and went to the bag. He opened it only to find a medium sized box with small handles on its sides and a lock that can be opened by using the key, a key and a note that reads “KEEP THE BOX LOCKED AT ALL TIMES”. While this is all on-going it reached the interest of a foundation agent that was disguised as a police officer in the vicinity. Hours later the agent took SCP-3859 and mailed it to the PO box of site-77. But Later on, SCP-5912 was relocated Site-██ in ██/██/███ to meet the current Containment procedures used to contain SCP-5912 as of today. (See incident-Gambit:)

Addendum-H1=N:

SCP-5912-1 and SCP 5912-2 should not be used for more than 4 consecutive games and less than 1 game and after each use of SCP-5912-1 and SCP-5912-2 should be back to its box for no less than 12 hours and no more than 7 days. As SCP-5912 would grow to its gigantic height if ever it is:

  • Used 4 or more consecutive times
  • Was not stored back to its box for 12 hours
  • Was stored in its box for more than 7 days
  • Was taken out of its box but not used for any game (either being played or showing a game used in the past.)

(Check Incident:A8=Q#)

Incident-Gambit:

Incident-Gambit occurred in ██/██/███ in site-77 where researchers: ███████ and ███████ were using SCP-5912 where their game ended in a draw. Seconds after the game was finished scp-5912-1 started to shake and shortly after shrunk both researchers to the size of SCP-5912-2 while SCP-5912-2 grew different height with SCP-5912-2-1 reaching a height of 15m high, SCP-5912-2-2 reaching a height of 23.15m high, while SCP-5912-2-3 grew differently with the rook reaching the height of 26.45m and the queen reaching 28m. and SCP-5912-2-4 reached the height of 30m. SCP-5912 have a similar width of 1.79m. But despite the growth of SCP-5912-2 their weight is found to be similar before they grew in height. After for some time it shrank back to its original size.

Incident:B8=Q,E1=Q:

Following the incident Gambit further observation was needed to understand SCP-5912 more where it would further lead into more Containment breaches and an incident. While Observing SCP-5912 by sending 2 D-class personnel to the containment site of SCP-5912 to play a match using SCP-3859 it showed no anomalous signs, but on the third match with the same D-class personnel the pieces became harder to move as it constantly move around while being held and that the match was getting harder to continue on as the pieces on the board were also moving And in the fourth game. The D-class were shrunk and SCP-5912-2 grew similar to what happened in incident checkmate where it breached containment. After about 25 minutes SCP-3859 was re contained by MTF-17 later be known as MTF-17 “Checkmate”.

Researchers were baffled on how MTF-17 “Checkmate” was able to re contain SCP-6940-2 And with little to no casualties. Each of the MTF comprising of "Checkmate" was interviewed and they all have one answer which is to defeat it in it's own game.
