An Error In Communication

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in BCU-041 at Site-96. BCU-04 is accessable to active researchers and level 4 personnel. The vials containing SCP-XXXX may not be opened outside of Site-96's Research Bay2.

Any organisms infected with SCP-XXXX are to be quarantined indefinitely. If any high-level personnel, or personnel with knowledge that is vital to the Foundation are exposed to SCP-XXXX, they are to be given Class-Z mnestics, and extracted of any necessary information before being terminated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a fluid-borne pathogen capable of infecting sapient organisms. It is virile, quickly spreading along its carrier's nervous system, coating it in a thin, red substance3, similar in viscosity to an aliphatic alcohol. SCP-XXXX-1 will, in many cases, transmit to other areas of the body, replacing any mucous, blood, or other fluids with itself, though somehow, this does not cause any abnormal symptoms in the carrier. SCP-XXXX-1 is easily spread, and, when coming in contact with any other liquid, will rapidly replace the liquid in question with itself. Any organism coming in contact with SCP-XXXX-1 will become infected with SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX's symptoms manifest as a perceived inability of its carriers to communicate with the outside world. There is currently no known way for a carrier of SCP-XXXX to convey any meaningful information in such a way that a person who is not affected by SCP-XXXX can understand and interpret it. Extensive testing has been done in an attempt to disprove this theory, and thus far, none have been successful.

The following is an incomplete list of every method of communication attempted by SCP-XXXX carriers. In each case, one D-Class Personnel was exposed to SCP-XXXX-1, and one was a control. Both were instructed to convey a certain piece of information to Dr. Henry Rouslin, a researcher at Site-96.

Proposal TH-XXXX

After PoI-48155 breached containment on August 16th, 2016, a proposal was written up to Neutralize him with the help of SCP-XXXX. The plan was to locate PoI-4815, sedate him, extract the wherabouts of all affected people, and then use SCP-XXXX to render all those affected, including PoI-4815 himself, unable to communicate. Theoretically, this would remove the ability for PoI-4815 to spread this infohazard.

Following a successful mission of tracking down PoI-4815's whereabouts, a task force was sent to retrieve him, which went by without issue. PoI-4815 was captured, and the rest of the proposal was executed as written. PoI-4815 was neutralized, and SCP-XXXX was reclassified as Thaumiel.
