Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-████ is kept in a underground library among 6832 books. The number of books in SCP-XXXX´s surrounding Area is to be kept above 6000 at all times. SCP-████ is to be kept between the book "Look homeward, Angel" as well as "Of Time and the River" by author Thomas Wolfe. All other Books surrounding SCP-████ have to be changed by D-Class personnel 2 times a week with a minimum of 17% of the inventory being changed in each session.
This process will further be called the "Disguising"
Description:
SCP-████ is a book bound in dark brown leather with carvings on its spine. These carvings vary between 1.61mm and 3.14mm in depth.
The book was found on an exhibition in Egypt under the library of Alexandria. Archeologists were searching a sinkhole that devoured a part of the west wing. After descending into the sinkhole they found some remains of the old library that burned down in 48 B.C.
The Foundation was called in by the local police when the Archeologists where found blind and pale wandering the exhibition site after a researcher working in the library heard screams from the sinkhole.
The foundation intervened and tried to find out what was going on. Mobile Task Force XXX arrived at the site and captured one of the Archeologists. The Team tried to make contact with the Archeologist but all attempts failed.
The team went on towards the sinkhole and descended into it. They found the exhibition leader crawling in front of a book. His body was transparent so that only the blood in his veins and bones could be seen along with the outlines of his body. The blood was reported to be a slowly flowing thick liquid with a white tinge. The book was visible through his transparent back.
The team proceeded to take the members of the exhibition team into containment along with the book.
SCP████-1
On September 7th, 1986 Dr. ███████ was in charge of coordinating the Disguising with two D-Classes. One of the D-Classes reported a broken light source and sparks. Just before some Books were lit on fire by the sparks and a fire started growing. D-6839, D-6840 and Dr. ███████ tried to extinguish the fire but their efforts weren't enough. Soon a big chunk of the inventory was on fire. Dr. ███████ went to secure SCP-████ and took it out of the shelf. He and the D-Classes ran out of the library to save their lives and SCP-████ along with them.
After the intern security noticed the fire, they immediately fought it back and went searching for the doctor and D-Classes. They searched the area for 2 hours and 37 minutes before they heard screaming off in the distance. They went to investigate and found D-6839 with translucent skin, wandering in a field and screaming. "Where am I?"
"Answer me! What is the reason?!"
"Why was i so blind? Bring me back the humble illusion!"
D-6839 fell to the ground, grabbed a strip of grass, stopped screaming and stared at it intensely.
He talked to it "Why have you lied to me all this time. Why have you never shown me what i was missing? Tell me what to do now. I can't deal with it. The colors, the feeling.. The feeling is wrong it is all wrong I… I can't."
The security anesthetized the man and left a medic to aid the D-Class. They searched the fields for the other D-Class and the doctor but weren't able to find them. On the way back to the anesthetized man a member of the security noticed a strange disturbance in a river that ran nearby the field. The team went to investigate and found "something" laying in the water. They reported seeing a humanoid like space in the river that the water seemed to run around. Afer steping into the river and picking up what was laying there they to find out it was seemingly a Human that has become completely translucent. It is assumed that the human-shaped space is D-3840 but no tests to identify it have been successful therefore it has been classified as SCP-████-1A.
After returning to the anesthetized man and the medic the team went on the way back to the facility. They gave the D-3839 and SCP-████-1A into medical care before they began searching the river for SCP-████. They finally found the book down the river but weren't able to locate the box that surrounded it before.
Just as they walked near the book, Dr. ███████ appeared screaming with blood rolling from his eyes. He was pulling a large bag behind him. The security approached him, and he told them: "We need to put the book into this bag, that's the only way we can secure it. There is no other chance!"
In the bag he carried a several other books, such as a reconstruction of the ripley scrolls.
One of the team members took it on him self and walked towards the Book. Meanwhile, the rest of the team opened the huge bag so that he could insert SCP-████. He picked the scroll up and started walking towards the rest of the team. Just as he reached them and attempted to insert his hand holding the SCP-████ into the bag. Then he paused. The intern secruity leader comanded the member to let loose of SCP-████ and deposit it in the bag. No response. Dr. ███████ took the firearm from one of the security members and shot the man.
The book felt into the bag while the other security members took down Dr. ███████ and secured the bag. Both were brought into containment.
Medical report D-6839-1
Date: September 29th, 1986
Subject: D-6839
Age: 37
Weight: 27,8 kg
The subject shows normal breathing, pulse and blood pressure are in tolerance and neuronal functions have not changed since first recordings. D-6839 was brought into medical care after an incident involving SCP-████. All physical body functions have been normal so far besides weight.
Skin of the Subject is transparent, Blood shows a white tinge, Bones and organs are visible trough the skin and seem not to be effected by the same effect that made the skin transparent.
Dr. ███████: How are you feeling today?
D-6839: It's all a lie. It has always been a lie.
Dr. ███████: What was a lie? Tell me about it.
(D-6839 jumps off the chair and stares at it for 3 minutes. Sits down afterwards with his head between his hands)
D-6839: (shakes head violently while speaking) Why have they all been lying to me?
Dr. ███████: So what happened out there on September 7th?
D-6839: What happened.. What happened..?
Dr. ███████: You have been tasked with a process called (pause) "the Disguising", do you remember?
D-6839: Oh ████ why aren't you answering me? All the lies, you have to clear them!
Dr. ███████: Who are you talking to, D-6839? Answer me please.
(Dr. ███████ walks towards a whiteboard and writes down "D-6839 can you read this?")
(D-6839: looks around the room, seemingly without noticing the doctor)
Dr. ███████: (flicks and points at the sentence while holding a pen towards D-6839)
(D-6839 takes the pen and walks towards the whiteboard. Stoping aproxematly 30cm in front of it.)
Dr. ███████: (watches D-6839 closer) Can you write anything down that would show me that you are in there D-6839?
(D-6839 rotates head to the right and looks towards a shelfe of books)
Dr. ███████: Ah of course. Maybe this helps you a bit. (walks to the shelfe and takes a copy of "the Erl-king" and takes it back to D-6839) Have a look, maybe seeing some text will help you gathering your thoughts.
(D-6839´s head drops down when Dr. ███████ presents the book before him. After 73 seconds of starring into the book D-6839 looks up and begins writing on the whiteboard)

Dr. ███████: What is this, D-6839? I don't know these symbols.
(no response from D-6839)
Dr. ███████: (approaches D-6839 and looks into his eyes) Can you answer me? Can you speak as you did before? Tell me, what do this symbols mean?
(Dr. ███████ touches D-6839's shoulder. D-6839 begins shaking and walks around the room. Stopping at a mirror and staring into into.)
(D-6839 screams in an inhuman sound)

Dr. ███████: What ever this book did to D-6839 something in his brain has changed. Why did he not answer me as he did in the beginning? Is the influence by SCP-████ progressing? No known language fits the symbols he wrote so far. If we can decrypt it, we may get some clues. And where did this scream come from? Human vocal cords can't create such a sound as the one he let loose. So not only his appearance has changed, his physiology has as well. We need to investigate this effect in further research.

Agent ████: Good morning Dr. ███████. Do you feel ready for the incident review? Maybe some
water before we start?
Dr. ███████: Yes please I always get thirsty when I'm nervous.
Agent ████: There is no need to be nervous. We just want to get a better understanding of what
happened on Incident 1986-272.
Dr. ███████: You can read all about it in the medical report. (voice breaks down a little) I don't want
to remember that day. It was enough for me trying to write that report.
Agent ████: Yes I've read the report and I understand how frightening it..
Dr. ███████: Haven't you heard it? That scream! That's not human nothing about that scream even
has the tiniest piece of a human voice. How can a human create such a sound?
Agent ████: Dr. ███████ the foundation knows how hard the work here can be. And you know that
from first hand. You've witnessed many things that are unusual at least. But you have
been informed about these possibilities before you started working for us so please stay
with me and let us together find out how SCP-████ works, what it does and how we
can protect it and humans along with it.
Dr. ███████: I.. I'm sorry. You are correct, I should know better. (sniffs) Lets just get trough it.
Agent ████: Good. As I said (pause) I've read your report so there is no need to go trough
everything a second time. Can you tell me something about SCP-████-1B´s looking?
Were there any signs of SCP-████ influence on the subject?
Dr. ███████: What is SCP-████-1B supposed to reference to? I don't recall that item number.
Agent ████: Of course, I wasn't sure if you have been informed yet. D-6839 has been classified as
SCP-████-1B after incident 1986-272.
Dr. ███████: Okay. That makes sense somehow considering it is still D-6839 after that scream would
be (pause) somewhat irrational.
Agent ████: Please just give me a description of SCP-████-1B on that day. What did it look like
while you were talking?
Dr. ███████: Well he or it had a normal appeal I would say as far as his condition is considered. He
wasn't shaking and sat there very strait. Now that I think about it, it wasn't moving at
all in any way before we started talking.
Agent ████: For the record, was it he or it? You keep changing. Did D-6839 appeal to you as a
human or anything else on that day?
Dr. ███████: I (pause). (takes deep breath) I would say D-6839 appealed to me as a human until he
screamed it that horrific way. Sure his skin was nearly translucent, I could see his
bones and organs. I even recall seeing his heart pumping blood trough his veins.
Agent ████: Besides the changes SCP-████ potentially did to the subject. Was it human?
Dr. ███████: Yes. I would say that.
Agent ████: And do you think SCP-████-1B was conscious or was he under mental influence by SCP-████?
Dr. ███████: It was somewhat conscious I think. At least at the beginning of my report he was conscious. He at least noticed what i said even though i don't think he just repeated it without understanding the meaning. D-6839 was somewhere in there but seemed very catatonic if you know what I mean. Clearly SCP-████ has a mental influence on him.
Agent ████: Catatonia is an effect that cognitohazardous SCP´s can have on people. It's not that uncommon at least in the long term about 5% of exposed subjects show catatonic symptoms.
The security team mentioned that SCP-████-1B talked about "lies" and "wrong feelings" when they c-ontained it, were you able to find out more about that from your diagnostic efforts?
Dr. ███████: As you can see in the report, it didn't answer questions very well. So currently I have no clue what these "lies" or "wrong feelings" could mean. (looks into Agent ████´s eyes but doesn't focus Agent ████) Perhaps these feelings are a result from SCP-████´s effect on his body. You know, they were blind because their eyes were translucent. So no light could reach their retina and therefore they weren't able to see anything. So maybe something similar to that happened to their other senses like touch, smell and so on.
Agent ████: That sounds like a starting point. We will commission further research on SCP-████ as well as SCP-████-1A and SCP-████-1B to you. All needed resources will be provided.
Dr. ███████: I.. I don't know if I am the right person for that.. I don't think I can overcome another Incident like 1986-2..
Agent ████: 1986-272 that is. You will be in command for the research. You don't have to carry them out in person. There are other ways.

Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-████-1A is to be stored in a Class 2 Anomalous Object Container guarded by one (1) personnel with Level 2 clearence when not undergoing testing. The Container that contains SCP-████-1A has to be kept at 98.2 °F at day and 95.6 °F at night. Tests of iniciating contact with SCP-████-1A need a written permission by at least two (2) personnel with Level 4 cearence or higher. Dr. ███████ is to be notifired before iniciating testing.
Description: SCP-████-1A is a human shaped space that is translucent to light. It is assumed that SCP-████-1A is D-6840 while the annormal apperence is caused by former expose to SCP-████. The space SCP-████-1A occupies shows a temperature that varries between 99,5 °F and 106,7 °F. SCP-████-1A shows the behavior of a comatose human and so far hasn't shown the abillity to move on own accords.

Experiment SCP-████-1A-E-1
Name: Dr. Bishop with Dr. ████ assisting and Dr. ███████ observing
Date: 19/10/1986
Procedure: D-Class subject is to be instructed to enter SCP-████-1A´s containment unit. The unit is to be observed by an adjected control room, temperatur sensors as well as video and audio recording. D-Class will be instructed to enter the containment unit and try talking with SCP-████-1A.
Results: D-6925 (Female 28, no known mental disorders) enters SCP-████-1A's containment unit. Subject is told that the foundation is testing the capabilitys of a new cloaking device. Subect walks into the middle of the room and says "Hello is there someone?" no response from SCP-████-1A. "They said you are cloaked. I see nothing so its clearly working. Tell me can you hear me?" SCP-████-1A lays on the bed as before. Dr. Bishop tells the D-class to sit down near the bed. Subject does as instructed. D-6925 notices the folds SCP-████-1A creates on the bedcover. "Is that you? Wow its really working, i can see nearly nothing." Dr. ████ tells D-6925 to touch SCP-████-1A. The D-class reports it as feeling hot and sweaty. No response from SCP-████-1A.
Dr. Bishop: Unfortinatly SCP-████-1A did not show any response to normal human interaction. Maybe it isn't D-6840 or a human at all. Maybe other methods of iniciating contact will be more effectiv. So far SCP-████-1A does not show any interrest to react to any stimulus so far. We will use D-6925 again for the next test. We assume that SCP-████-1A is D-6840 or at least an alterd version of him. Under that assumption maybe SCP-████-1A will begin to react to something when we use D-6925 again because her voice will be familiar.
Dr. ███████: SCP-████-1A shows very different behavior than SCP-████-1B as well as their symptoms from expose to SCP-████. SCP-████-1B is at least responsive to stimuli. I was even able to talk to it. I don't think SCP-████ effected these individuals in different ways, perhabs its just another response to whatever is written in this book.
Experiment SCP-████-1A-E-2
Name Dr. Bishop with Dr. ███████ observing
Date: 23/10/1986
Procedure: D-class subject will enter SCP-████-1A's containment unit with a flashlight and units light sources will be turned off. The unit is to be observed by an adjected control room, temperatur sensors as well as video and audio recording. D-6925 will be instructed to shine around with the flashlight and report what it observes.
Results: D-6925 enters the testing chamber and walks towards the bed. Subject instructed to talk to SCP-████-1A again as if it is a human. "Hey there, it's me again. So you have been laying there since the last test?" No response. D-6925 shines around with the flashlight stopping at the bed. Dr. Bishop instructs the subject to shine directly at the folds SCP-████-1A creates. D-6925 walks closer to the bed and shines the flashlight directly onto the space where SCP-████-1A is assumed to lay on the bed. SCP-████-1A doesn't react, but the flashlight creates odd reflections on the sheet. Dr. ███████ notes that these reflections look similar to the symbols SCP-████-1B wrote on incident 1986-272. Dr. Bishop instructs D-6925 to shine the flashlight trough SCP-████-1A from different angles but the reflections are the same.
Dr. ███████: Whatever these symbols mean, i've matched them with the ones from 1986-272 and they are exactly the same. So it seems that both SCP-████-1B and SCP-████-1A give us the same message. We just need to decrypt it in some way.
Dr. Bishop: Well now we got a response even though we have no clue what it means. Dr. ███████ said these symbols are similar to the ones SCP-████-1B wrote on incident 1986-272 so there is clearly a connection. Since shining a light onto SCP-████-1A is the only way to get a response so far and we always got the same message there is no need to try this test over and over again in hope to get another response.

Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-████-1B is to be stored in a Class 3 Anomalous Object Container guarded by two (2) personnel with Level 3 clearence at all times. SCP-████-1B is to be feeded trough D-Class personell on a biweekly basis with 3 living chickens. Substances that the object excretes have to be cleaned every thirteen days. Since it is beleved that SCP-████-1B is undergoing metamorphosis, video cameras have been installed in it`s containment unit.
Description: SCP-████-1B is a humanoid wich skin is translucent. Organs, Bones and veins as well as ateries can be seen trough the skin. Following Incident 1986-272 SCP-████-1B started to crawl on its arms and legs. SCP-████-1B shows behavior that is similar to terrestrial canivorous species strongly resembling lupi, while it`s metabolism is fairly human.

Dr. Bishop: After incident 1986-272 SCP-████`s influence seems to change SCP-████-1B`s physiology more and more. In just 3 hours after the incident SCP-████-1B has seemingly lost the abillity to speak and started to crawl on its limbs wich have started to shrink. Since it´s jaw has elongated about 9 centimeters, it looks a bit like a dog now. I assume this process will go on for some time and transform SCP-████-1B more into a dog perhaps more likely a Canis lupus like apperence. Whatever is written in that book, it seems to reduce the human congnitive functions down to that of a lupi and its apperence along with it. I assume its inner body will undergo this transmutation as well. It`s vocal cords were the first organ to undergo this change (explains the scream). We will see what SCP-████-1B looks like after this process.
Date: 17/10/1986
Dr. Bishop: SCP-████-1B's transmutation has seemingly stopped. It's apperence can be described as a human upper body with lupi like legs and a elongated human head. Grey foam covers its body starting from the nek. The air in SCP-████-1B containment unit is filled with a grey pollution resembling ash. We beleve this pollution has its orrigins in the foam located on the object. So far this substance hasn't shown any effect on D-Classes that have entered SCP-████-1B's unit. For savety massures, breathing protection is now implemented while cleansing.
Dr. Bishop: Hey Dr. ███████, i was searching the database for SCP`s with similar effects and i found that exposure to SCP-407 had somewhat comparable effects on the subjects it was tested on. Even though it has been neutraliced, do you think there could be a link here?
Dr. ███████: What was 407 again? I don´t remember every SCP the foundation contained over the years.
Dr. Bishop: It was a recording tape with a song on it that, when heard, led to annormal cell growth.
Dr. ███████: I think i have never worked with something like that. But yeah okay, lets say it is a song that iniciates annormal cell growth, how does that fit with a book that turns you into a wolf?
Dr. Bishop: Lupi, please, its a very big difference.
Dr. ███████: Sure, into a lupi, if that makes you happy. So explain to me the comparability of 407 to our book.
Dr. Bishop: After hearing SCP-407, subjects experienced chages in their physiology. Woulds were healed, scar tissue fanished and so. After long time exposure to the song, the subject´s upper body transfomed into something like tree brances and animal life has formed from those growths. I will show you an image later.
Dr. ███████: But we haven´t seen annormal cell growth from this SCP.
Dr. Bishop: That`s right. But these effects from 407 have only been observed after 4 minutes of exposure. So maybe we would see something similar if a subject reads longer in this book. As far as we know the two D-Classes have done more than looking into the book. They were found starring onto the page that was opend before them, so maybe reading or looking trough more than one page will have effects similar to 407.
Dr. ███████: So you think we need to increase the time of exposure?
Dr. Bishop: Yes, maybe 407 and this book they are the same just in different forms. Like a book and a film are the same thing or story but have a different form. You know?
Dr. ███████: Okay, i think i understand what you mean. So your idea is that SCP-407 and SCP-████ are the same thing just in different forms. So SCP-████ is the songtext of 407 or what?
Dr. Bishop: Exactly. Think about it. If whatever is written in SCP-████ can transform your body like make it translucent as happend to D-6839 and 6840, hearing the same things could have the effects we´ve seen from 407. Cognitohazadous SCP's often have other effects depending on the medium they are transmitted trough.
Dr. ███████: That actually sounds like a plousable theory. So can we test it somehow?
Dr. Bishop: All copies of 407 have been delited so comparing the two is no option. SCP-████-1A shows no change in behavior or condition. 1B‘s transformation is observed by cameras so we can’t really do more than decrypting these symbols i think.
Dr. ███████: Well then lets start with that. We will meet in about three and a half hour in the library. I will go and get the transcript of the symbols and we will try to find a clue how to read them. Are you in, Bishop?
Dr. Bishop: Yeah, that sounds good. I will get me some tea and meet you in the library.
Dr. Bishop: Dr. ███████ and I were not able to decrypt any symbols even after researching the library. We even tried to train an AI to decrypt the book but got no results so far. I think i know someone who can help us out here. Dr. Eugene Gant, he is an old friend of mine and used to work for the OCC with decrypting ancient texts. Maybe his supervision will help us get a clue.
