Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A is contained within a small computerized safe at Site-██, with at least 1-2 security personnel stationed outside. Twenty-four hour video surveillance of SCP-XXXX-A’s containment area is required, with mandatory checkups every 6 hours. SCP-XXXX-B is used in the break room by any Class-2 Personnel or higher. Permission is required for any testing of SCP-XXXX.
Note: Games imported onto SCP-XXXX-B need to be shared with everyone. We don’t want another incident. - Security Officer ██████ Jacobs
Description: SCP-XXXX-A is a series of eleven1 identical VHS tapes, designated SCP-XXXX-A1, -A2, -A3, and so forth, all of which are labeled with dates from 1982, each with a different month (a notable exception being 9/—/82), and the day unmarked. When used with a VHS player, the tapes produce a variety of information on the Foundation, however, the information produced is almost always different for each viewing session (see Addendum XXXX-A-1). SCP-XXXX-A is styled after “training tapes” (as referred to by several D-Class subjects) produced and distributed to Foundation personnel, despite this style of information highway never having been used by the Foundation.
SCP-XXXX-B is an ordinary Macintosh Classic, but closer inspection reveals a few oddities, most noticeably with the manufacturing date, which is dated in the 1970s2. SCP-XXXX-B has been modified for use with VHS and DVD players and can play any video in these formats, with a few exceptions, although further testing is required to determine if there is a pattern to this behavior.
Upon deconstruction of SCP-XXXX-B, a small electronic part (which has not been identified) has been added near the processor. Removal of this part causes reassembly of SCP-XXXX-B to become impossible by “overwhelming” whomever is attempting reconstruction. It is not currently known how this is achieved.
When SCP-XXXX-A and -B are used together, SCP-XXXX-A will, instead of playing normally, present a basic Q&A program where the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX-A have been more noticeable, with SCP-XXXX-A showing what it refers to as its “feelings”, or its ability to sense a subject’s intentions and morality through unknown methods. Each SCP-XXXX-A instance has a distinct personality and typography. Despite showing awareness and knowledge of human ethics and emotions, SCP-XXXX-A has not considered themselves to be sentient, and whether or not SCP-XXXX-A is sentient is still undecided.
History: SCP-XXXX was recovered from an unoccupied household in ██████████, Minnesota on 7/██/20██ by MTF Epsilon-6. SCP-XXXX was found assembled near a recently emptied storage closet and was seemingly left behind in a hurry, which led many to suspect a recent witness at the recovery site. Suspicions were confirmed during testing of SCP-XXXX-A6/-B, and this person was designated PoI-XXXX-1. Nothing about this individual is currently known other than possible possession of the missing SCP-XXXX-A12.
