SCP-XXXX

The pattern, distorted to avoid the viewer's screen assuming anomalous properties

Item Number: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is not to be drawn upon an object, printed, or viewed upon a computer without the image being distorted first. The only exception is during testing on the pattern or with the pattern. Any foundation member seen drawing the pattern outside of testing is to be detained, restricted from testing for the next 48 hours, and given a class on the dangers of SCP-XXXX. In any situation where they cause a containment breach or cause harm to others, they must be terminated. Any civilian or member of a GOI who draws the pattern must be detained and given Class-C amnestics, and SCP-XXXX-1 should be destroyed[1], or at least taken into foundation custody.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a pattern consisting of a red, hollow flame shape, with one green and one black dot on each side, along with an exclamation mark being added within the oval. The pattern is present on SCP-173 and whatever it is drawn, printed, or projected onto will gain the same properties as 173, hereby known as SCP-XXXX-1. The pattern itself was not considered anomalous until Incident XXXX-A, in which a miniature model of 173 that Dr. Clef was making had come to life upon being painted. It subsequently tried to snap his finger, to no avail. It's theorized that its creators were GOI 172, "Are we cool yet?", who had also built 173. Due to testing logs indicating SCP-XXXX-1 being sapient if applied to a model of a humanoid, animal, or sapient SCP, the Ethics Committe is reviewing testing and breach protocols, and discourages anything that

Test A - 2/7/2020

Subject: A discarded pencil found behind SCP-294.
Procedure: Pattern was drawn on the pencil's eraser, and all Class-D's were ordered to blink as a group.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 had scrawled lines all over the CDs' arms as soon as the blink had been finished
Analysis: SCP-XXXX-1 seems to be able to perform its functions automatically and quickly, but cannot operate when viewed

Test B - 2/14/2020

Subject: An MTF action figure, given to researchers' on-site kids to entertain them.
Procedure: Pattern was drawn on action figure's face, and all Class-D's were ordered to blink as a group.
Results: SCP-XXXX-1 fled as soon as the personnel blinked, and was found a few days later, after an FP had heard crying in the break room from behind one of the vending machines.
Analysis: SXP-XXXX-1, if a model of a sapient object, seems to become sapient when SCP-XXXX is applied.
