Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 10 x 10 meter room at Site-17. At its own request, it is to be kept completely immobilized in a full body padded harness, including a mouth guard, and neck brace. This is to prevent it from hurting itself. The harness is not to be removed for any reason without clearance from the Site Director. SCP-XXXX is to be fed only through intravenous tube. Entrance into the room is disallowed for all but Class D personnel. Use of SCP-XXXX requires clearance from the Site Director. Any unauthorized use of it is punishable by demotion to Class D.
There is to be an eye tracker connected to a monitor with a virtual keyboard to allow the subject to communicate. All messages sent by it are to be immediately read by personnel. Personnel should engage the subject in conversation for at least 2 hours each day to keep its mind from atrophy. It often requests to watch movies or read books. Any such requests are subject to approval from personnel of at least Level 2.
If the subject attacks site personnel or attempts to breach containment, incapacitating fentanyl gas is to be pumped into the room.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a Caucasian human male with brown hair and green eyes, currently 23 years old. Its muscles are almost completely atrophied due to extended containment. SCP-XXXX shows the ability to detect sentient beings within 5 meters of it and read their mental state. It can manipulate psychological pain within them. Although unable to change the total amount of pain around it, it can freely move pain from one individual to another, including itself.
SCP-XXXX is recorded to be able to manipulate all manner of psychological discomforts, including sadness, grief, fear, doubt, and uneasiness, as well as more specific attributes. It has been recorded to be able to manipulate self-image, self-worth, and confidence, as well as various phobias. It was even able to “cure” Class D personnel with depressive and anxiety disorders.
SCP-XXXX first developed its anomalous qualities around 18 years of age. Around this time, it started experimenting with its powers, which ultimately led to the suicide of its (abusive father?). According to its psychological evaluation, the trauma suffered caused SCP-XXXX to develop a “Messiah complex.” It pathologically desires to save others and adamantly refuses to move pain to anyone but itself or the original subject of said pain. It was able to find Field Agent Sam Lane of its own accord 2 years later and asked to be contained and used for the benefit of humanity.
Pain transferred through SCP-XXXX can’t be resolved by normal means unless the subject is the originator of the pain. For example, removal of the source of the anxiety will not affect stolen anxiety in SCP-XXXX, though it can still eliminate its own. SCP-XXXX appears to be extremely mentally ill (scoring a 9 on the Coll Depressive Index) due to the pain it has assimilated, mostly in attempts to save people before being contained.

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX

Interviewer: Agent Sam Lane

Foreword: This is a paraphrase of the initial encounter between SCP-XXXX and Sam Lane. At the time, Lane was undercover as a member of the London police department. SCP-XXXX approached Lane while he was eating in his squad car outside the police station.

Person: Hello. Are you Sam Lane?

Interviewer: Yes. How can I help you?

Person: I would actually like to help *you*. You are an undercover Agent, right?

[Lane claims he did a perfect acting job.]

Interviewer: I’m… not sure what you mean by that. Do you mean like an undercover drug dealer? If I was, I wouldn’t…

Person: Your anxiety just went up when I said that. You report freaks and unexplainable objects. [It smiles]. You work for the Institute!
[SCP-XXXX’s smiles falters and it appears confused for a second.]

Person: I was right up until I called it the Institute. What is it called?

Interviewer: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Person: Look, I don’t really have time for this gaslighting shit. I’m a freak. I can read and control negative emotions. I’m here because I knew there must be an organization that can use me for the good mankind. I’ve been scouring old internet forums and bizarre events sightings for the past two years in search for it. As far as I could tell, that’s what the Institute was. I’m here to help you. I want to save the world.

[Agent Lane pauses for a few seconds]

Interviewer: Fine. Wait here. The *Foundation* will come pick you up.

Closing Statement: A Mobile Task Force contingent was sent to the location within 30 minutes. SCP-XXXX was captured.
