Description:
SCP-xxxx is an electromagnetic signal with a frequency of 4462.3362 MHz originating from an area of empty space within the Milky Way galaxy¹. This region is not known to contain any natural astronomical radio sources. Additionally, the frequency of the signal is equal to the product of 2π multiplied by the hydrogen line. Because of the mathematical significance value, and the improbability of its natural production, it has been speculated its use could be intended as a marker of the signals intelligent origin.

SCP-xxxx appears to be continuously broadcasting a 27 minute long loop of information, encoded via an unknown data system. Work into the interpretation of the signal is ongoing.

Researchers assigned to the interpretation of SCP-xxxx consistently suffer from unusual psychological phenomena during and for a short period following their work. Unprecedented bouts of anxiety, intense dreams, and intrusive thoughts are present in significantly higher rates among these staff. Researchers assigned to other aspects of SCP-xxxx’s containment have not displayed this phenomenon. SCP-xxxx has been designated a mild memetic hazard pending further psychological evaluation of research staff.

Provisional Description Update ██/██/2020:
SCP-xxxx-A is an anomalous area of space roughly adjacent to the origin point of SCP-xxxx. SCP-xxxx-A was discovered during research into the origin of SCP-xxxx, when attempts to observe, study or catalog the area now designated SCP-xxxx-A created conflicting and unreproducible results. SCP-xxxx-A’s effects appear to be more pronounced in certain areas; observation of the outer edges of the anomaly may yield consistent results for months before sudden change, while an area thought to be the epicenter [Data Corrupted] Because of this, the exact perimeters of SCP-xxxx- A are unknown.

Psychological evaluation has not produced a non-anomalous explanation of the effects of SCP-xxxx. However, loose patterns in the memetic effects of SCP-xxxx have been identified as a result of these evaluations. See Addendum ██/██/2019 (2).

For example, of interviewed researchers, all were independently found to have repeatedly recalled memories related to a personal mentor figure, three quarters reported nightmares related to childhood punishment, and half claimed to have experienced intrusive thoughts related to loved ones developing dementia and other cognitive disorder.
