Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Due to the contents of Interview Log XXXX-01, the containment procedures have been amended to the following:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard 10 x 15 x 10 m cell with a glass window installed for personnel viewing at Site-66. SCP-XXXX’s wings are to be restrained with locks that hold its fingers on the floor.
SCP-XXXX is to be fed 2 pints of mammalian blood (typically acquired from cattle) daily and its head is to be fitted with a muzzle restrictor to prevent it from making incisions on foundation personnel but loosened enough that it can stick out its tongue to feed.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a female member of the order chiroptera. DNA testing has revealed that SCP-XXXX is most closely related to the common vampire bat (desmodus rotundus) but its species is unknown. From head to toe, SCP-XXXX is 2 m long with a wingspan of 3.5 m and weighs 150 lbs. The entirety of SCP-XXXX is covered in white fur and its eyes emit a red glow when reflecting light.
Anyone fed upon by SCP-XXXX or perceiving it feeding on a living organism in any way will completely forget the event. Those affected including the victim can view documentation of the said feeding but will not remember it. Anyone who has not perceived SCP-XXXX’s feeding can view and remember any documentation (foundation personnel unaffected by SCP-XXXX’s properties are the only source of this information).
Addendum 1: Relevant Eyewitness Accounts
After the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, locals reported sightings of a massive winged creature that circled farms in search of livestock. Witnesses claimed to have seen the creature and reported that moments after the sighting, some of their livestock had small incisions on them. They claimed that they did not remember the creature attacking their livestock but suspect that this was the case. The community nicknamed the creature the “Batsquatch”.
On April 24th, 1994 a man named Brian Canfield reported being pursued by a large bat-like creature on his way to Camp One in the Mount Rainer foothills near Lake Kapowsin. Three days after the sighting, Canfield passed away from acute tubular necrosis. Rumors began to spread that the condition was caused by the creature despite Canfield’s claim not including direct contact with it.
Addendum 2: A Field Study
On August 27th, 1994, Dr. Faust of Site-66 and a team of foundation zoologists went on a field study in Mount St. Helen and managed to observe the creature dubbed the “Batsquatch” exiting hibernation. It has been observed stalking prey, using its white fur to camouflage with the snow. Dr. Faust noted that despite this, it has not been observed feeding on said prey.
Addendum 3: Capture and Containment
MTF Lambda-4 was deployed to Mount St. Helen, Washington to rendezvous with Dr. Faust and his team of foundation zoologists and found the creature perched on a pine tree. It was sedated with 1.5 ml xylazine and transported to Site-66, where it was designated as SCP-XXXX.
