SCP-5889 "The Top Hat Trickster"

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5889 is contained within Standard Secure Humanoid Containment Cell Sector-01 at Site-17. During any transport, SCP-5889 should be contained with a hard glass wall between it’s guards and SCP-5889 and several hidden monitors to watch its behavior and movements.

The personnel shouldn’t interact with SCP - 5889 for more than 30 minutes and any personnel must take a day before interacting with SCP-5889 again. Trying to take SCP-5889’s top hat is prohibited, the last trying ended up with the victim’s psychological trauma and needed to take a week long therapy.

Description: SCP - 5889 is humanoid entity but it lacks bipedal legs. Instead lower body of SCP-5889 is hidden by it’s black clothes. SCP - 5889 is approximately 1.7 meters tall and extremely light. His facial features are only it’s two glowing yellow eyes (slightly bigger than a normal person’s eye) and his unmoveable mouth that always seems as that SCP-5889 is smiling. X-rays results show that SCP-5889 doesn’t have any internal system neither a complex body under the clothes of it. SCP-5889 also wears a black-white top hat all the time.

Researchers say that SCP-5889 can speak any language that it heard of couple sentences. SCP-5889 is mostly cooperative with Foundation staff and enjoys communicate with them but Foundation staff should be aware of that SCP-5889 shouldn’t have get with physical contact or a distance that is nearer than 1,5 meters. SCP-5889 is capable of manipulation through talking of weak willed people or organisms. Communication with SCP-5889 should’ve done with a glass barrier between the researchers and SCP-5889. If SCP-5889 contacts with an organism, it can change the emotions of the victim through releasing hormones with skin contact. How SCP-5889 can do that is still unknown. SCP-5889 claims that it feeds itself with enjoyment, adrenaline and fun, needing no foods or drinks.

Experiments show that SCP-5889 can hide into its top hat and move very agile in this form when SCP-5889 is encountered a danger that it can’t handle or needs to reach a place very quick. SCP-5889 accepted working with Foundation staff for calming down humanoid Euclid Class SCPs of Site-17.

Addendum 5889.1: Discovery of SCP-5889

Foundation got suspicious heard of all the spectators cried after a comedy show at Sydney Opera House and claimed to the show as the saddest thing that they watched. The Foundation sent a team to investigate. Team came to the Sydney Opera House at night while it’s closed and saw the SCP-5889 playing the Hamlet all by itself. Team waited until SCP-5889 finished it. SCP-5889 was not surprised by the Team’s entrance. After finishing its play, he surrendered calmly and took by the team.

Addendum 5889.2: Its top hat’s importance to SCP-5889

After some time from SCP-5889’s entrance to the Foundation, one of the curious researchers tried to take and analyse SCP-5889’s top hat. SCP-5889 suddenly became hostile and grabbed the victim. After couple of seconds, the victim gave the top hat back to SCP-5889 and cried and collapsed to place it were. Victim got analysed by expert psychologists of Site-17 and had therapy for a week to recover from the emotional trauma caused by SCP-5889’s contact. That was the only big injury that SCP-5889 made so far that recorded.

Addendum 5889.3: Proposal of SCP-5889

After being in the facility for a long time, one day SCP-5889 made a suggestion to the Foundation staff during a communication hour. It suggested that it can calm down other hostile humanoid SCPs of the site and can keep the morale of the Foundation personnel high with some of his powers in exchange of some freedom. The staff wasn’t expecting that, they delivered it to higher authorities. After a long discussion at the Foundation, they accepted the SCP-5889’s suggestion but with some conditions;
- SCP-5889 mustn’t come in near contact with any personnel of the Foundation.
- SCP-5889 will be transferred to other SCP containment cells blindfolded and with locking collars-extension restrains, only twice per week.
- Morale communication will be once in a month after the personnel passes the will test before it.
- Any attempts from SCP-5889 to escape, breaking the Foundation secrecy and/or policy, provoking other SCPs against the Foundation will be ended by immediate termination of SCP-5889.
