SCP-5133
Item #: SCP-5133
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5133 shall be stored in a containment unit measuring 3 m x 3 m in Site 22's secure storage wing when not in use. Experimentation with SCP-5133 requires written consent from two Level 4 researchers or the site director.
At no point should crosstesting be conducted between SCP-5133 and any anomalous vegetation. Researchers found to be in violation of this policy will be reprimanded accordingly.
As of ██/██/2023, testing with carnivorous plants is prohibited. See Incident Report SCP-5133-1 for additional information.
Description: SCP-5133 is a circular, ceramic flower pot measuring 1 m in height and 50 cm in diameter with glossy, maroon glaze. Due to its large size, SCP-5133 is exceptionally heavy and care should be taken not to drop or otherwise damage SCP-5133 during transport.
SCP-5133's anomalous properties manifest when a seed is planted in the pot, upon which the seed becomes an instance of SCP-5133-1. SCP-5133-1 will germinate almost immediately, requiring no water or fertilization beyond the soil the seed was initially planted in. Regardless of the seed planted, SCP-5133-1 will present several notable external deviations from their native species, including dark red skin, mottled purple veins, and thorns. In addition, SCP-5133-1 will grow at a highly accelerated rate and reach maximum size in approximately 72 hours.
Once it has reached maximum size, SCP-5133-1 will begin to exude an aroma designed to lure human prey to SCP-5133. This aroma varies widely from person to person, seemingly based on scents the person finds enjoyable. The mechanism by which SCP-5133-1 determines and creates what scents a person enjoys is currently unknown, although testing is currently underway to determine this. Despite the alluring nature of SCP-5133-1’s aroma, this effect is non-anomalous in nature and test subjects experience no additional compulsion to approach SCP-5133-1. Recorded aromas include chocolate, mint toothpaste, kimchi, used motor oil, █████, ocean spray, and many others.
If SCP-5133-1 successfully lures human prey into touching it, SCP-5133-1 will violently lash out with thorny vines and grapple its prey. Once subdued, SCP-5133-1’s thorns will protrude deeper into the victim’s flesh and ███████████. Testing has revealed that offensive vines from SCP-5133-1 are anomalously durable. Only extreme heat or extreme shearing force are able to damage SCP-5133-1’s offensive vines. After a victim has been completely ███████████, SCP-5133-1 will begin fruiting. Within 24 hours, a number of fully ripened fruit referred to as SCP-5133-2 will be developed. Each plant converted to an instance of SCP-5133-1 will yield only a single crop of SCP-5133-2, the size of which varies from species to species and instance to instance.
SCP-5133-2 shares the exotic red and purple coloration of SCP-5133-1 in addition to a skin universally described by subjects as leathery. SCP-5133-2’s interior is a composite of the original fruit and finely marbled human flesh, devoid of both blood and seeds. Despite the human flesh, SCP-5133-2 possesses a shelf life comparable to that of the original fruit. When asked to describe the taste and texture of SCP-5133-2, subjects generally describe the fruit as tasting similar to its original fruit with a "beefy" aftertaste and a texture akin to pork or tough chicken.
SCP-5133-2 is safe to consume raw or cooked, although subjects frequently express discomfort at the prospect of eating raw SCP-5133-2 due to its similarity to raw meat. SCP-5133 shares genetic markers from both the original plant and SCP-5133-1’s prey; likewise, SCP-5133-2 contains high levels of vitamins and nutrients native to both “parent” species. Aside from its longevity and exceptional nutritional content, SCP-5133-2 possesses no additional anomalous properties.
