Description: SCP-XXXX is a Level II parallel universe (Tegmark classification) discovered by Foundation researchers during Project Broca (see Addendum I). This universe possesses radically different physical constants than our own, as a result of post-inflationary spontaneous symmetry breaking. Because SCP-XXXX’s physical environment is too chaotic for proper atomic formation to occur, the entire universe consists of unbound subatomic energies existing in a state of wave-particle duality. While these properties are primarily derivative from contemporary models of particle physics and cosmology, SCP-XXXX exhibits multiple behaviors which violate the established laws of reality.
Most notable of these anomalous behaviors is that SCP-XXXX as a whole appears to possess some form of sentience or intelligence, and is capable of apparently altering its own nature at will on a fundamental level. While this ability was initially believed to be limited to SCP-XXXX’s physical constants, it has subsequently demonstrated applicability to fundamental physical laws (including those governing interdimensional interactions) as well as mathematical and logical principles. This influence extends to other universes and their laws. SCP-XXXX is capable of communicating indirectly through this ability, by selectively altering fundamental mathematical principles to form semiotic constructs (see Addendum II).
Foundation researchers have developed methods of communicating with SCP-XXXX. While it possesses extremely dangerous anomalous properties, it is not considered hostile. SCP-XXXX’s modifications of fundamental laws within consensus reality are only detectible by sensitive equipment.
Addendum I: Project Broca
Project Broca, initially proposed by Researcher █████ ████ in 20██ and launched on November 9, 20██, was an ontological research survey responsible for collecting Hume measurements of various parallel universes within the Tegmark classification system. In the words of founding Researcher ████:
“Broca is a measure taken more for security over research. In order to adequately deal with anomalous phenomena, the Foundation is responsible for possessing a nuanced understanding of what does and does not constitute an ‘anomaly.’ Interference from parallel universes in some form or another is common in various anomalous phenomena, but it is often unclear if this type of intrusion is the result of natural forces (i.e. quantum mechanics, Einsteinian relativity) or the result of anomalies. We must be able to clarify to ourselves what it means to defy the laws of reality, if we are to defend them.”
Researcher ████ proposed Project Broca for the purpose of understanding various different types of parallel universes and how they naturally interact under understood physical models. Past Foundation projects had already developed tools capable of establishing bridges between parallel universes and our own, albeit on a subatomic scale, and thus identifying properties of these universes and an in-depth multiverse classification system. Through use of sophisticated Kant counters, Project Broca surveyed more than 1.9 million parallel universes (most uninhabitable due to their respective physical constants) and measured relative Hume readings between them, with the goal of establishing a long-term Foundation multiverse baseline.
Addendum II: SCP-XXXX Discovery and Nature
“Based on the scale of our research, it was not particularly surprising that we eventually detected an anomaly. Even with the conclusion that SCP-XXXX exhibited Keter-level Hume readings, we still assumed that the anomaly was either manifesting in our equipment, or was a smaller object or entity in that universe. The eventual and unavoidable conclusion that SCP-XXXX was, in fact, the entire universe that we had found was, needless to say, astounding.” – Researcher ████
SCP-XXXX was discovered when Project Broca Kant counters began to exhibit large-scale Hume readings from within one of the surveyed parallel universes, then designated M2B-068940. Research of SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties continued over the course of the next few months, eventually resulting in the permanent suspension of Project Broca. Site 511 was converted into a research and containment facility solely for SCP-XXXX; when the anomaly began to exhibit influence over elements outside of the site, various Scranton Reality Anchors were built in order to limit the effect of SCP-XXXX.
As summarized in Researcher ████’s ██-year research report, SCP-XXXX is a spatially infinite Level II parallel universe which attained its current “natural” properties through known physical behaviors inherent in cosmic inflation, the process by which universes expand. SCP-XXXX consists entirely of subatomic particles existing in an ambiguous state of superposition, though they appear to be governed neither by chance nor orderly laws; rather, the entirety of the universe’s particles, energies, and constants exhibit behaviors characteristic of an intelligent being. Researcher ████ has devoted ██ years to forming an understanding of SCP-XXXX’s nature.
SCP-XXXX can alter its own physical and logical laws at will, an ability often seen with type-greens and similar anomalies. This influence extends beyond SCP-XXXX’s own bounds and into other parallel universes, including our own Level II universe, though apparently on a more limited scale. The most common type of alteration seen is in SCP-XXXX’s localized impact on mathematical principles, most often only detectable through sophisticated equipment. After SCP-XXXX’s influence █████ ████ Researcher █████, it was learned that the anomaly could also affect █████, producing vivid dreams and hallucinations; as a result, human researchers were forbidden from nearing active measurement equipment. After the incident, SCP-XXXX’s alterations began to demonstrate patterns correlating to linguistic constructs, and researchers developed a means of communicating with SCP-XXXX by altering the polar orientation of ████ ███████ ███ within on-site Kant counters.
SCP-XXXX is believed to possess an incongruent type of intelligence which is simultaneously less than and above that of humans. Translations have demonstrated a frequent combined use of sophisticated scientific terminology and simplistic, childish language. Communication facilitated through computation initially offered site researchers little insight into the anomaly’s perception and nature, due to the anomaly’s inconsistent and illogical dialogue. More productive developments have been psychological, facilitated by using the same polar ████ ██████ techniques utilized in the computed communication on living ██████ █████████ █████ ███. Subjective reports have revealed potential connections between ████████ ████████ ██████ and SCP-XXXX’s ███████ ██████, providing major ███████ ███████ Foundation research on ████████ ████████ ████.
