Item#: SCP –XXXX “The Deadman’s veil”
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: If SCP-XXXX is resurrected, it is imperative that SCP tactical teams are dispatched immediately with orders to subdue and restrain by any means necessary. Once SCP-XXXX has been restrained, tactical teams will escort it to Site-8 where SCP spiritual negotiators will attempt to convince SCP-XXXX that its wordily dealings are finished and it can return to its rest. What remains of SCP-XXXX to be kept at Site-26 in a bulletproof glass case atop a titanium pedestal in a solid concrete room behind a 15-centimeter thick reinforced titanium door only accessible by SCP personnel through retinal scan. The containment room is to be perpetually lit by fluorescent light fixtures secured to the roof of the containment room. SCP personnel are advised to keep containment room temperature at approximately 23 °C. A maximum of 3 persons are allowed inside the containment room at any given time, two of which are required to be SCP personnel with a security clearance of level 2 or higher, one of which must be armed with at least a Class II weapon. The containment room is to be guarded by 2 security officers at all times. Security officers are required to be armed with standard Class III firearms, 9mm sidearms, fixed-blade combat knives, and must have a direct satellite phone link to an SCP tactical team.
Description: All that remains of SCP-XXXX is a ballistic facemask adorned with etchings of the Egyptian God Montu. SCP research analysts have found several documentations of soldiers wearing masks with nearly identical etchings throughout history; most notably in accounts from The Roman Conquests, The First and Fourth Crusades, The Napoleonic Wars, The American Civil War, The Taiping Rebellion, Both World Wars, and the Korean War. All accounts describe a great warrior of unknown origin that appeared in the haze of war to turn the tide of battle and led legions of men to a triumphant victory over their enemies. Accounts also assert that the masked warrior never spoke and led solely by slaughtering hordes of men and breaking through once impregnable defenses. However, each documented sighting of these masked soldiers all hold that the warriors were killed in combat after irrevocably changing the tide of battle. Extensive research has shown no recruitment records, military honors, physical remains or any evidence that may lead to potential identities for these masked soldiers. SCP analysists have isolated one specific account from the Battle of Actium as a possible explanation for SCP-XXXX’s existence. The archaic account details the death of an Egyptian warrior thought to be blessed with great military prowess by the Egyptian God of war himself: Montu. The account claims that all who were touched by the God Montu and slain in combat were cursed to be resurrected to fight in every ensuing war until they were redeemed in the eyes of Montu. Recent reports have shown that SPC XXXX has begun to kill indiscriminately rather than strictly in combat, a behavioral change which many historical analysts claim is a sign of the curse’s corruption over the centuries as it drives the warrior’s spirit to a manic state for not yet redeeming itself before Montu. Several Senior SCP Officers share concerns that Montu’s curse may still resonate within the mask, and the SCP foundation’s current technological inability to develop experimental parameters to test for such concern have led the mask to be contained under exceptionally high security.
