Item #: SCP-3628
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The entrance to SCP-3628’s pocket dimension is currently located outside of Dipayal, Nepal, hereby known as Site-85. Due to the nature of the Site itself and the entrance to the pocket dimension, the portal should be guarded by four armed guards cycled and replaced every 30 minutes with protection to the anomaly’s radiation. Entrance into SCP-3628’s dimension as well as interaction, study, or alternative forms of testing should be cleared first with the Site Overseer or the Head Researcher assigned to SCP-3628 (currently Dr. Joshua Ming) as well as being escorted by an armed guard. All interactions should be recorded and documented afterwards at the discretion of the research team, as well as requests by SCP-3628 regarding materials provided for the anomaly.
Previous containment procedures unnecessary at this time. All information transmitted from SCP-3628 should be kept on the data banks at Site-85 and be considered of the utmost importance. Secrecy of collected data is to be determined by joint members of SCP-3628's research team and RAISA. No less than four armed guards and 24-hour surveillance should ensure the protection of data from SCP-3628. Head Researcher Joshua Ming will curate all knowledge transmitted from the anomaly as well as receiving and logging it. Research team should sort and transmit all data received as needed. In the event of receiving a live specimen from SCP-3628, situation should be dealt with by on-site containment teams (currently operatives from MTF Beta-7 due to presence of radiation or caustic substances in specimens) and logged for further study. See Addendum 2-1-3628 for more information.
Information recovered from interviews with SCP-3628 suggest the existence of sentient life on Saturn and potentially on nearby moons. Foundation-sanctioned space exploration must exercise due caution around the planet, and embedded agents in international space exploration agencies must discreetly prevent interplanetary exploration of Saturn until peace is assured with Saturn's inhabitants. At this point, researchers on the SCP-3628 team should contact the anomaly and attempt to establish contact in order to best establish a peace agreement by utilizing a relationship with a member of their race. Further
Description: SCP-3628 is an extraterrestrial being originating from Saturn, apparently dated at over 60,000 years old. SCP-3628 has been determined to not be the sole survivor of its species, all of which have the following features as defining traits of SCP-3628’s certain “tribe” (see Interview Log 1-3-3628) among the anomaly’s species. SCP-3628 has the following physical features:
- Height of 1,110 meters, weight unknown.
- Wingspan of 1,220 meters per pair of arms (Two pairs).
- Black and gold body makeup, testing reveals a possibly unknown element composing “flesh” of the anomaly.
- Bottom half composed of three legs with sharpened ends allowing for propulsion across surfaces and through space.
- “Head” composed of solid cranium without eyes, nose, mouth or ears, but SCP-3628 has the ability to communicate telepathically.
SCP-3628 has the ability to communicate telepathically, speaking in the native tongue of its tribe and several other tribes as well. Additionally, it speaks a handful of terrestrial languages, such as Mandarin, English, and Sanskrit. There appears to be no limiting range to this telepathy, including beyond the boundaries of SCP-3628´s pocket dimension. SCP-3628 demonstrates a wide variety of metaphysical abilities, including but not limited to telekinetics, psychokinesis, and omnikinesis. Utilization of materials inside SCP-3628´s pocket dimension within the Foundation has been suggested, and may be cleared by the 05 Council if permission for utilization is acquired.
SCP-3628 is housed within its own pocket dimension, known by SCP-3628 as a term roughly translated to ¨vessel¨ or ¨habitat.¨ This alternate dimension strongly resembles SCP-3628´s planet of origin, both in physical appearance as well as atmosphere composition (75% hydrogen, 25% helium, with trace amounts of ammonia crystals in the atmosphere as well.) The pocket dimension resembles a biosphere with a size consistent to 1.5 times that of Earth, covered in a surface crust composed of a ferrous compound thus far unknown that is without physical features in any area except for instances of SCP-3628-1.
SCP-3628-1 are anomalous, obelisk-shaped structures composed of a multitude of trace materials from a variety of locations and with a variety of ages, ranging from unidentified organism flesh (theorized to originate from jovian environments) to elements such as uranium, with a mean height of 1,200 meters. SCP-3628-1´s anomalous properties are shown when interacted with by a biological creature or SCP-3628 itself. SCP-3628-1 instances cover the surface of the pocket dimension with approximately 10 square kilometers between each instance, and, when interacted with through physical contact, seem to contain an indiscriminate amount of data and specimens from different planets and times (oldest specimen dates back 2.7 billion years ago). SCP-3628 claims to have not only created each instance of SCP-3628-1, but also to have inputted the contents of each instance through as of yet unknown means. These structures, as well as testimony from SCP-3628 itself, seem to suggest that the anomaly acts as a sort of researcher and/or collector of various items and knowledge from all over the local solar system as well as other star systems and galaxies. SCP-3628´s pocket dimension appears to be the transportation SCP-3628 uses in order to traverse alien environments including that of Earth, and the pocket dimension appears to be able to relocate itself across distances at approximately 11,000 times the speed of light. SCP-3628 seems to have only come to Earth as an additional area of interest in its collection of knowledge (See Interview Logs 1-1-3628, 1-2-3628, and Addendum 2-1-3628.)
Interview Log 1-1-3628
Interviewer: Head Researcher Joshua Ming
Date: 12/03/16
Preface: First conversation with SCP-3628, prior to receiving knowledge of SCP-3628´s language. Translations were made post-interview and therefore are speculative due to the telepathy of SCP-3628. Additionally, SCP-3628 has replaced some words with those of his own tongue, necessitating rough translation shown below.
BEGINNING OF TRANSCRIPTION:
Dr. Ming: Can you communicate with us?
SCP-3628: I can communicate.
(Ming has visible reaction to telepathy, notes ability to Command)
Dr. Ming: Your communication is English. Do you speak Earth languages?
SCP-3628: I speak (expression of four objects, identified as Saturnian word for four) of the languages of this (biosphere, planet).
Dr. Ming: Where are you from, or have you always existed here?
SCP-3628: I have (transported, substitution could be made with traveled) from (Saturn.)
(SCP-3628 moves from standing about 20 yards away at its closest appendage to the nearest column about 50 yards from Dr. Ming)
Dr. Ming: What are these structures?
SCP-3628: (Term used here could represent a large collection, similar to a database or even assembly.) Come to Earth to (collect, record.)
Dr. Ming: I don't understand your language, but you understand mine. How can I understand you more?
//(SCP-3628 responds to question by pressing a single appendage into the column closest to him. Notable increase in radiation recorded by Dr. Ming's protective suit, but resumes its normal levels as soon as the anomaly retracts its limb from the SCP-3628-1 instance. After this action, SCP-3628 closes distance between it and Dr. Ming until the researcher is only 5 yards away from the closest appendage. SCP-3628 lifts this appendage and draws a symbol on the ground. Dr. Ming, after looking at this symbol, notes the spontaneous knowledge of SCP-3628's language, however immediate effect knocks Dr. Ming unconscious. Personal security retracts Ming from the pocket dimension for safety purposes.)
TRANSCRIPTION TERMINATED. //
Note: The interaction between Dr. Joshua Ming and SCP-3628 has established him as Head Researcher on the anomaly. After a twelve hour period of unconsciousness, Dr. Ming awoke speaking indecipherable words. From what we have been able to glean, these words may have been from the anomaly's native language. This interaction seems to have granted him some sort of understanding of the language spoken by the anomaly, perhaps given through a pseudo-telepathic interaction, and for the duration Dr. Ming will be tasked with recording and translating the words and phrases used by the anomaly. Investigation into this interaction is ongoing.
-Site Director Rajesh
Interview Log 1-2-3628
Interviewer: Head Researcher Joshua Ming
Date: 20/03/16
Preface: Translations should henceforth be exponentially more consistent, as Head Researcher Ming has been given knowledge of the language by the anomaly and has recorded all known for use by the rest of the SCP-3628 research team.
BEGINNING OF TRANSCRIPTION:
Dr. Ming: You have given me knowledge of your language. What is your reason for this?
SCP-3628: Clear communication will allow a more efficient (transfer, possibly trade) of information between us.
Dr. Ming: Thank you. I represent the SCP Foundation; we are an Earth-based organization devoted to containing and classifying anomalous entities. We mean you no harm.
SCP-3628: Our interests are aligned.
(SCP-3628 folds its walking appendages beneath itself, looking towards Dr. Ming for the first time. Confirmation of visual stimuli towards humans, despite lack of ocular appartuses.)
Dr. Ming: What interests do you have on Earth?
SCP-3628: Collect information of this planet to have in my (proper noun, possibly refers to SCP-3628's pocket dimension or SCP-3628-1, appears to refer to both.) It is my purpose.
Dr. Ming: How do you collect information?
SCP-3628: Derive information from (telepathy- SCP-3628's language regards this as "thought speech") and collect physical specimens for further study.
Dr. Ming: Have you just done this on Earth? Or on planets throughout the solar system?
SCP-3628: Planets and peoples not only in this system, but in other throughout the (term utilized to refer to other universes, possibly the visible universe which is larger than our current definition.)
Dr. Ming: Then you are a sort of archivist or collector. Do you take the information back to your home planet?
(Notable pause before SCP-3628 responds.)
SCP-3628: My kin are not as peaceful as I. They pose a threat to (existence, used to refer non-personally, as though addressing a race or collection of beings,) and I would not give them the information I have (absorbed[?], discovered.) They would use it for their perversion of violence. I only collect.
(SCP-3628 rises to full height and begins to walk away. While this was not the full range of questions that needed to be asked, SCP-3628's cooperation with the interview shows a willingness to answer the questions in later interviews.)
TRANSCRIPTION TERMINATED//
Note: The willingness to answer our inquiries as well as non-violent motivations suggest that SCP-3628 could be a valuable asset to the Foundation. However, due to the limitations of the anomaly's dimension, I think that our aid in giving him knowledge of Earth and (potentially) the Foundation would encourage a sort of trade agreement between our species and it. We could study extraterrestrial life and astrophysics the likes of which we've never even scratched the surface of. Requesting permission for this sharing of information in order to procure knowledge.
-Head Researcher Joshua Ming
Granted. We have given you a list of Foundation-related topics you can address with SCP-3628. Don't make me look like a traitor, doctor.
-O5-6
Interview Log 1-3-3628
Interviewer: Head Researcher Joshua Ming
Date: 25/03/16
Preface: Upon entry into the pocket dimension, SCP-3628 was interacting with an instance of SCP-3628-1 a distance away. The anomaly used its arm-like appendages to beckon Head Researcher Ming and his security team to follow. Without the speed to follow such a massive entity, SCP-3628 approached the group and offered to carry Dr. Ming with it. Dr. Ming accepted. The remainder of the interview was conducted with Head Researcher Ming in the "palm" of SCP-3628 while traveling a short distance around the pocket dimension's entrance to separate instances of SCP-3628-1.
BEGINNING OF TRANSCRIPTION:
Dr. Ming: Why are you traveling between these structures? What are you doing with them?
SCP-3628: To observe the state of collected information and specimens. Providing sustenance to living organisms if they require it and maintaining their environments.
Dr. Ming: Where are these organisms existing and living?
SCP-3628: (The terms used here refer to a similar plane to SCP-3628's pocket dimension. Research teams have deduced that the anomaly creates similar planes in order to comfortably house these organisms in their own environments.)
(SCP-3628 approaches an instance of SCP-3628-1. Structure seems to be composed of strange, semi-liquid metal, possibly mercury, unidentified chitinous shells, and a liquid that gravitated outwards from the structure to the entity, possibly some sort of ferrofluid.)
(SCP-3628 places one of its bottom appendages to the structure, seeming to partly phase through the instance. Fluctuation of radiation as seen in Interview Log 1-1-3628 and visible release of bright light as SCP-3628 "extracts" an unknown material from the SCP-3628-1 instance.)
SCP-3628: How does the Earth Foundation store its information?
(Dr. Ming is temporarily flustered, distracted as SCP-3628 retracts its lower appendage from the structure and travels to a different instance.)
Dr. Ming: We use databases on our technology and create physical copies. But we can transmit information to one another through communication.
SCP-3628: The Foundation utilizes this information in order to protect other members of your race?
Dr. Ming: Correct.
(SCP-3628 makes its first audible communication in a non-telepathic form, releasing a high noise reaching at least 100 decibels before terminating after 30 seconds.)
SCP-3628: It would honor my purpose to (partake, indulge) in your knowledge, and to share my own with you. Our races share much in common despite our differences in intellect.
Dr. Ming: How so?
SCP-3628: My species is divided in to tribes and creeds of their own. Different forms of communicating, different languages, different customs. I left (Saturn) in order to evade (conflict, war, disagreement). I would gather knowledge of other worlds and their tribes and their beings. I collected more, and over time my purpose became clear. I would discover and store everything, that in these (conflicts, wars, disagreements) nothing of value would be lost to (ignorance, melancholy[?]) and survive past the times of its people. Even my race must die eventually.
Dr. Ming: How old are you? How long have you been travelling and collecting this information?
SCP-3628: I have lived for 60,241 years relative to yours, and have been travelling for 45,000 of those Earth years. I have only been on Earth for a single Earth year. I will depart when my collection of information is finished, at which I will (catalog, sort) before going to another system. I will not finish my journey unless I (die {note: death means very different things in Saturnian language and culture -Ming}) or my knowledge is compromised. It will not be.
(SCP-3628 does not answer any further questions, and Dr. Ming does not ask any. An hour passes before the anomaly and Dr. Ming return to the entrance of the pocket dimension, and the research team departs as SCP-3628 does.)
TRANSCRIPTION TERMINATED//
Note: SCP-3628 hoards a vast amount of information, and if it is departing soon a research team should be dispatched with it to communicate information recorded on that journey back to Earth. It is a chance we will not be presented with again, and, as SCP-3628 is a peaceful anomaly, it may offer us a way to keep tabs or discover other anomalies based around and outside of our solar system.
-Head Researcher Joshua Ming
Proposition will be brought to the Council to be voted upon. Reveal no more information about the Foundation's decision on the matter or the nature of the proposition to those on your research team without clearance or the anomaly itself.
-O5-6
Some of my colleagues on the Researcher Team seem to be displeased with how few and far between our interactions with this SCP are, and I understand their frustrations. I'm able to record interviews only by memory, and translating words and terms that don't directly agree with certain grammatical rules in our language. Regardless, I can't help but be in awe of the anomaly. Perhaps it's some sort of latent cognitohazardous effect, or a symptom of the telepathic reaction when I first interacted with the anomaly, but I swear I've begun to dream in the language of 3628. Maybe the O5's don't see it yet, but an alliance with this SCP could launch us into a golden age of knowledge. I truly believe that this is not just some non-hostile entity, but a friend to the Foundation. -From The Journal of Dr. Joshua Ming
Addendum 2-1-3628:
At approximately 2100 hours on 17/06/2016, Head Researcher Joshua Ming reported that the entrance to SCP-3628's pocket dimension disappeared. In its place was an instance of SCP-3628-1, standing at the height of eight feet and eleven inches and constructed entirely out of a yet unknown platinum-silicon alloy. When physical contact is made with the object, Head Researcher Ming reported a link directly to SCP-3628, similar to its telepathic communication. SCP-3628 can therefore still be contacted through this instance of SCP-3628-1, and at certain points direct "portals" dispense materials given from SCP-3628. The anomaly's classification will remain Euclid due to the possibility of a return to Earth. As such, research teams for SCP-3628 will remain in use in order to study the instance of SCP-3628-1 further and maintain communications with SCP-3628 itself.
We will revise the containment procedures for now, but should SCP-3628 return they will be reinstated. Dr. Joshua Ming's team will stay on assignment unless reassigned, or unless reassignment is requested, not including Dr. Joshua Ming himself. For those who are wondering why we don't just decommission this anomaly, you will have to take it up with 05 Command. They've been requesting the information we've retrieved from SCP-3628, as though there's something important in the skip's messages. Or maybe, like Ming, they're just fond of the big guy. -Copied from the Site-85 Memo dated June 26th, 2016.
**NOTICE: Due to the current condition of the anomaly, it is possible that the object class may be > revised to Neutralized. However, in the interest of preserving the anomaly, all Special Containment > Procedures {See Below} are centered around preservation of SCP-XXXX's health and security. The > production of "Pieces" may be draining the entity, so until proven their production should be slowed or > at least not encouraged.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Current procedure for the containment of SCP-XXXX should follow the most recent protocols for Standard Humanoid Containment with adjustments for SCP-XXXX's current status. All required medical devices must be stored outside of SCP-XXXX's containment chamber unless under use by medical staff, and must be cleaned daily to ensure contaminants are not present. Respectively, medical staff required for preserving the anomaly are to be present at all times or on any entry by researchers or otherwise approved staff. In entrance or exiting of the cell, all personnel and equipment must be checked by security staff and must undergo standard clean-room sanitation. Any breaches in the integrity of the cell must be repaired immediately to prevent contamination of the cell or anomaly.
For SCP-XXXX's "Pieces," all necessary painting materials may be provided as long as the supplies are cleaned and inspected before presentation in the anomaly's cell. Paint must be non-lead based, and brush hairs must be synthetic. Each produced "Piece" is to be preserved in Safe MCI (Multi-Containment Installment) at Site-06-3 after observation by SCP-XXXX's research staff. In the anomaly's current condition, SCP-XXXX often experiences periods of confusion and amnesia after waking up after lengthy periods of rest or at random points if unoccupied by creating "Pieces." When this occurs, medical staff should focus on calming the anomaly and evaluating the extent of its memory loss. Any information deemed necessary to convey to SCP-XXXX must be, including but not limited to:
- Name and Age
- State of Disease
