Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard containment locker at Site 52. No paper with writings or drawings that were written/drawn using a liquid is allowed within 1 metre of SCP-XXXX, except for testing purposes. SCP-XXXX is not to be kept at the same site as SCP-140.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation of a box of Staples brand paper clips, all identical in length, color and material. They are 4 centimetres long, made of aluminium and silver in color. When one of SCP-XXXX is attached to a piece of paper with writing or drawings on it, the substance used to write or draw on the paper, and thereby the letters themselves, begin to replace themselves with the author’s blood. The entire process takes approximately ten (10) seconds. When the process is complete, the blood will be wet and at body temperature (37°C). When the paperclip is removed, the anomalous effects do not reverse and the blood remains.
Testing logs
Test XXXX-1
Subject: D-XXXX-1
Materials used: A4 sheet of white paper and an ink ballpoint pen
Procedure: Subject was instructed to write the sentence “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” on the paper. One (1) instance of SCP-XXXX was attached to the top of the page. The ink then began to slowly change color to a dark red, and the letters began dripping. DNA testing of the blood compared to a DNA sample of D-XXXX-1 conclusively proved that the blood was from D-XXXX-1. The paperclip was removed but the blood remained.
Test XXXX-2
Subject: D-XXXX-2
Materials used: A laptop computer with a word processing program installed
Procedure: Subject was instructed to type the sentence “the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” using the word processing program. The page was printed out and one (1) instance of SCP-XXXX was attached to the page. Results mirrored test XXXX-1.
Test XXXX-3
Subject: D-XXXX-3
Materials used: A small paintbrush and blue and green paint
Procedure: Subject was instructed to paint an image of a flower onto a piece of paper using the paints and paintbrush provided. When SCP-XXXX was attached to the painting, the paint was replaced with blood.
Test XXXX-4
Subject: D-XXXX-4
Materials used: Several hundred A4 sheets of white paper and 500ml of printer ink
Procedure: Subject was weight before the test. Subject was instructed to completely cover the pieces of paper with all of the printer ink. Over the following ten minutes several instances of SCP-XXXX were then attached to the pages until all the pages had been affected by SCP-XXXX. Subject then complained of feeling faint. Subject was weighed again and it was found that the subject was 530 grams lighter - the equivalent of 500ml of blood.
Test XXXX-5
Subject: D-XXXX-5
Materials used: Paint that contained a microscopic tracking device
Procedure: Subject was instructed to paint onto several pieces of paper using the paint with the tracking device. When SCP-XXXX was placed over the pages, the paint was replaced with the subject’s blood as usual. The tracking device within the paint could not be located.
Test XXXX-6
Subject: D-XXXX-6 and D-XXXX-7, a former tattoo artist
Materials used: Tattoo needle and black ink
Procedure: D-XXXX-7 was instructed to tattoo an image of a flower onto D-XXXX-6’s right forearm. The section of skin with the tattoo was surgically removed and an instance of SCP-XXXX was placed over the skin. The tattoo was not replaced with blood.
