Item #: SCP-4602
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4602 should be placed within the confines of a single room, without windows, adornments, or other obstructions to the perfectly flat walls. SCP-4602 will eventually, by nature, fill the entire room with dust, therefor requiring it to be transferred to another, larger room, of the same qualities. SCP-4602 should be placed atop a creasless, ledgless desk in the center of the room. It should remain turned off as long as possible to prevent any interference with it's function.
It should be noted that this particular anomoly is extremely important to the fate of mankind and life as a whole, though this isn't obvious upon first glance. While it's function serves the Foundation no aid currently, it will, in the long run, prove a vastly important artifact for the continuation of our entire universe. Treat with the upmost value.
Description: SCP-4602 is a standard size, 450 Watt desktop computing device. It's side panel is stuck entirely open, revealing a mess of cords, cables, and zipties. The actual components within the computer are not entirely known as shifting the wires could impede function. It is however known that the desktop has a motherboard installed. The IO slots have been filled with adhesive and it's power button covered in the same substance. SCP-4602's anomalous properties are not imediataly apparent, however, further inspection of the device will reveal its function.
SCP-4602 has three basic functions that serve as the basis for its anomalous status. First, SCP-4602 develops dust within/on/under it's cords and components at a rate 20,000x the average desktop computer. This property, on it's own, wouldn't warrant any attention from the Foundation, however. It is SCP-4602's specifics that set it apart. It's second anomalous property involves the method by which it accumulates dust. Despite tests conducted in freezing, boiling, sterile, and even vacuum environments, SCP-4602 retained its ability to accumulate dust. At first, a dimensional transition was hypothesized to occur, allowing dust from other dimensions accumulate constantly. This was debunked rather quickly in favor of another explanation which had the mark of evidence. SCP-4602 has now been proven to literally, on a sub-atomic level, create dust. That is, SCP-4602 violates the 1st Law of Thermodynamics, by creating mass and energy. It has been observed, through Foundation-provided sub-atomic microscopes, the particles composing dust being formed spontaneously and instantly. A small flash of a light it seen and from the brightness arrives a new piece of dust, along with it's various sub-atomic 'ingredients'.
While the violation of the 1st Law of Thermodynamics was at first viewed negatively, it was quickly realized that SCP-4602 had the potential to save the universe as a whole by circumventing the eventual 'Heat Death' of the universe. If the computer is able to create mass and energy given nothingness, it could prevent the 'Heat Death" or "Maximum Entropy" from occurring by constantly resupplying the universe with new energy. This is the third anomalous property of SCP-4602 and the reason very reason the Foundation continues to contain it.
