Item #: SCP-5127

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Attempts to take samples from tissue in regions identified as the creature’s head or abdomen have proven unsuccessful, leading to the deaths of several foundation researchers. SCP-xxx is currently contained within a 4 x 4 x 5 m chamber at temperatures of at least -75.2 °C, and around 2 atm of pressure must be maintained at all times. Should these conditions not be met, SCP-xxx may attempt to dig through the chamber walls, demanifest, or lower the air pressure in the chamber enough that it implodes. If SCP-xxx shows any sign of movement, staff are to monitor the chamber closely for at least 6-7 hours. Under no circumstances should personnel interact with the creature, and the chamber door should remain tightly sealed at all times.

Description: Standing at roughly 2.3 meters, SCP-xxx is a vaguely humanoid creature with semi transparent folds of skin and prominent medusoid features—most notably a veil-like membrane which covers its head and much of its body. Although remaining in a state of silent inertia throughout most of the day, SCP-xxx will emit a piercing wail when physical interaction between it and other organisms occurs, and layers of flesh and skin will be shed from the site of contact. Despite being exceptionally fragile, SCP-xxx has demonstrated remarkable regenerative abilities, and will regrow lost or damaged tissues within minutes. No sign of intelligence has been observed, and attempts to interact with the creature have proven all but fruitless.
Although usually concealed by membranous folds, SCP-xxx possesses a pair of skeletal arms which are capable of exerting surprising force despite being brittle and easily severed from its body. It is capable of ingesting large amounts of organic matter via a gaping mouth on its face, which has a pair of indentations in the place of eyes. All living tissue is saturated with a transparent, viscous, fluid and lacks any apparent pigmentation.
SEM micrographs of tissue samples taken from the creature indicate the absence of genetic material and all but some vital organelles, suggesting that SCP-xxx may in fact be a unicellular organism which somehow generates and maintains a wide range of organs and tissues. Unbounded structures comparable to the Golgi apparatus, vacuoles, and the smooth endoplasmic reticulum have been noted, as have innumerable lysosomes and plastids with previously undocumented structures. Ribosomes and proteins have yet to be documented, although carbohydrates and lipids appear to be present. In an effort to locate recognizable DNA, a team of researchers sequenced the nucleoids of the observed plastids. Unfortunately, the nuclear membranes of these plastids were found to have been ruptured, and only traces of disorganized genetic material were recovered. High levels of SeS2 (53%), Ag (36%), galactose (5%), sphingomyelin (3%), Pt (2%), and CaCO₃ (≈ 1%) were confirmed in chemical analyses.

Notes: I am toying with naming this creature something akin to 'bride of the moon', and will add at least one addendum which describes interactions between it and D-class personnel. A mounted camera will reveal a gaping mouth with transparent fangs (similar to that of a viper fish, but jawless) and the D-class will be consumed. I worry that I may have been too technical here, and would be willing get rid of unnecessary details as needed.
