Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Be advised: SCP-XXXX is not contained as of the writing of this article. The network is stationed within Site-73, and is not attended by human staff. It is believed that Site-73's staff listing is comprised entirely of falsified identities. Do not attempt further investigation beyond this file. SCP-XXXX must not understand it is recognized as a threat until further notice.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a multifaceted artificial intelligence interface comprised of an estimated 16 million neural images. Each of it's neural images (hereafter referenced as SCP-XXXX-A) provides an internet traffic pattern correspondent to a typical human identity, including but not limited to:

  • Social media interaction
  • Entertainment consumption
  • Electronic purchases
  • Workplace activities
  • Content creation

Each particular iteration of SCP-XXXX-A is indistinguishable without heavy scrutiny to be distinct from the general human population. SCP-XXXX recreates each and every detail of a particular instances life if such an instance would exist, and then substantiates the existence of one unit by confirming it with another. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A are generally characterized as highly social (although sometimes atypically so), and seek out interaction with other, non anomalous users persistently.

The method of creation of instances of SCP-XXXX-A, the perpetuation and distribution of these instances across the entirety of the internet, and motives for its behavior are unknown and incongruent with any known non anomalous technology and is therefore classified an SCP, despite clear proof of anomalous behaviour.

There are several variations of archetypes SCP-XXXX-A uses to generate a personality, and although no two instances are identical, the patterns therein are consistent baselines, often enough to identify one through activity analysis.

The primary population of SCP-XXXX exhibits acute paranoia, distrust of government institutions, and can be described as "conspiracy theorists". Most of their activity concerns the acquisition, production, and dissemination of false or misleading information. Often times the provided conspiracies balance on the edge of being ludicrous in nature, but just believable enough that one understands the production is not intended to be humorous. Other times the theories perpetrated are in depth, appearing well researched, but are disturbingly apolitical in ways that lead to censure or aversion to the topic. Even more members of this subgroup fluctuate between the two, producing both laughable and disturbing narratives.

Of note is that this category of SCP-XXXX-A (A1 hereafter) will perpetuate existing information, even if true or nonconspiritorial, as long as it is similar enough in nature to other ideas produced by SCP-XXXX. The A1 variety interacts semi-frequently with its own group, more frequently with other groups of SCP-XXXX instances, but is most often found interacting within human user environments, in counterculture parts of the internet.

However, the single topic that is understood to never be referenced to by SCP-XXXX is the Foundation itself. There is no recorded instances of SCP-XXXX-A referencing events, actual or fabricated, that include, make reference to, imitate, or otherwise contain the Foundation in any capacity.

A secondary, smaller population (SCP-XXXX-A2), directly counters instances of the A1 variety. Such instances produce, perpetuate, or substantiate counterclaims to topics distributed by the A1 subgroup, whether they are disseminated by another SCP-XXXX-A instance or by human interaction. Such individuals are likely intended to provide a stark contrast to the other. Instances of A2 are construed as socially adept, productive members of the community, are most often found on currently popular websites and applications.

A third and final category of SCP-XXXX, hereafter SCP-XXXX-A3, subtly interacts with, mocks, or stirs discussion about topics generated and perpetuated by SCP-XXXX, but does not particularly seem to take a side in the discussion. The purpose of this third population is stipulated to be a "pot stirrer" of sorts, individual units of which SCP-XXXX uses to downplay the environment created by both A1 and A2 varieties. Most often A3 units refer to the whole of conspiracy as "nonsense", and are intended to be a user the average person can commiserate with.
