Item #: SCP-4246
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4246 is to be held in a standard containment cell modified with padded walls, ceiling, and floor. Padding must be added to the cell door as well on the interior, for the protection of personnel studying SCP-4246.
Access to SCP-4246's cell must be restricted by an electric lock accessed via keycard, to be held by the area manager unless a test is scheduled to be performed. Any examination of SCP-4246 beyond behavioral and or noninvasive must be done wearing full body kevlar and a face mask. All injuries caused by SCP-4246 must be reported immediately and treated.
Description: SCP-4246 appears to be an eighteen to nineteen-year-old teenage male human with a somewhat pale complexion and unstyled brownish black hair in a state of sleep at all times. SCP-4246 wears clothing with inspiration taken from a variety of random cultures with no clear pattern, a green garb with white swirls and lines decorating it, the legs and sleeves that are extremely wide, with white ribbons trailing off the ends. The parts of the garb around its torso and waist, by contrast, resemble a common t-shirt and sweatpants in shape and form, and the collar of its shirt stretches into an exaggerated cloak-like collar. it wears simple tennis shoes in the same coloring.
SCP-4246 is constantly surrounded by four instances of SCP-4246-1. They are four identical boomerangs that float on paradoxically light breezes that surround SCP-4246 at all times. SCP-4246-1 instances change patterns based on the environment. Each instance had sharp edges. Attempts to wake SCP 4246 ended in failure.
Addendum: SCP-4246 was found in a cavern in northern India, hanging from a tree root protruding from the ceiling. Personnel that located SCP-4246 noted that it could not have climbed into such a position. SCP 4246 had to be cut down for retrieval. Personnel that aggressively handled SCP-4246 received minor lacerations from two of the SCP-4246-1 instances. Attending personnel learned to treat SCP-4246 with care while handling. No injury from SCP-4246-1 was life-threatening.
Transport Personnel reported that small drafts of wind seemed to protect SCP-4246 from bumps in the road, seemingly created by SCP-4246-1 instances
Early examinations of SCP-4246 were as follows.
Test A - 5/7/2017
Subject: SCP-4246
Procedure: SCP-4246 was strapped to a medical table carefully before medical personnel attempted to take samples of hair, skin, nails, and blood using tweezers, scalpels, nail clippers and appropriate blood testing equipment.
Results: All attempts to affect SCP-4246 physically resulted in various responses from SCP-4246-1 with escalating severity depending on the type of harm perceived. Attempting to pull hairs resulted in Doctor ███████'s arm being smacked aside firmly by the flat side of one of the SCP-4246-1s in what he described as "surprisingly like a reprimanding slap on the wrist". Attempts to clip nails resulted in SCP-4246-1 moving swiftly and striking the nail clippers out of Doctor ███████'s hand, before spinning and thus delivering a small cut on his finger. Doctor ███████ was pulled out temporarily to make sure the wound was not anomalous in some way. Shortly after, Doctor ███████ instructed a D-class personnel to attempt to take a skin sample for him using a scalpel. SCP-4246-1 retaliated by cutting the scalpel cleanly in two, briefly moving faster than the human eye could track, before delivering a longer laceration to the man's arm. Doctor ███████ notes that the strike perfectly avoided any significant veins and arteries to create a bloody but not life-threatening wound. Doctor ███████ insisted on performing a blood draw on SCP-4246 himself. During the attempt, SCP-4246-1 struck with less viciousness than it had in response to the scalpel, but Doctor ███████ still sustained two light scratches on the back of his hand.
Analysis: Any sort of invasive or harmful contact with SCP-4246 aggravates SCP-4246-1 instantly, and SCP-4246-1 has now shown an ability to achieve a velocity exceeding 80 MPH at least, pending further analysis. SCP-4246-1 has shown an ability to predict and precisely redirect harmful actions and objects, and a tendency to nonlethally punish whoever tried to do so. Doctor ███████ suggests further examination of SCP-4246-1 to see if they are sentient and speculates that SCP-4246-1 is a part of SCP-4246 as opposed to a tool, despite their appearance.
Test B - 5/9/2017
Subject: SCP-4246-1
Procedure: SCP-4246 was placed in a shooting range that had been abandoned due to an incident with SCP 3432. As per regulation, only D-class personnel were permitted to enter the shooting range. They were given a variety of weapons from police standard issue pistols to assault rifles, and ordered to fire on SCP-4246.
Results: The instances of SCP-4246-1 were measured to travel at least six times the velocity of the average bullet. They easily and precisely deflected each and every bullet fired. Several D-class personnel were injured by accurately directed ricochets before SCP-4246-1 joined together after the personnel ran out of bullets and created a tornado to force the D-class personnel out of the range.
Analysis: SCP-4246-1 operates entirely non-lethally. Even when creating a genuine tornado, the wind was only strong enough to lift the D-class personnel up five feet or so before depositing them out of range of SCP-4246. Multiple wounds were found on the D-class personnel that was discovered to be the bullet shrapnel picked up by the wind, suggesting a level of precision and calculation that most computers cannot achieve to deliver the long cuts nonlethally. They also seem capable of creating wind disproportionate to the speed they achieve.
Test C - 5/10/2017
Subject: SCP-4246-1
Procedure: SCP-4246 was brought into a larger break room, where the tables and chairs had been removed. As per Doctor ███████'s suggestion, C and B class personnel gave SCP-4246-1 various stimuli and recorded the results.
Results: Doctor ███████ and his gathered team got SCP-4246-1 to act in different ways by speaking to them before performing an interaction. A class B personnel got them to submit to being used like a punching pad, even shifting to reduce the pain of hitting metal in the process. Doctor ███████ got them to behave in a way that could only be described as playful by initiating a juggling contest, which Doctor ███████ lost. After this, Doctor ███████ received amicable reactions from SCP-4246-1's four iterations, even being allowed to stand on one and use it to hover.
Analysis: SCP-4246-1 understands English and many other languages, and behaves accordingly when prompted. It has since treated Doctor ███████ with something resembling respect. Reclassification of SCP-4246-1 as sentient has been authorized, and Doctor ███████ is recommended to make another attempt at sample collecting.
The Following transcribe is a conversation Doctor ███████ managed to have with SCP-4246-1 regarding taking samples from SCP-4246.
Interviewed: [SCP-4246-1]
Interviewer: [Doctor ███████]
Foreword: [Doctor ███████ speaks to SCP-4246-1 on the matter of collecting tissue samples from SCP-4246]
<Begin Log>
Doctor ███████: SCP-4246-1, yesterday, we had a very amicable interaction, yes?
SCP-4246-1: One of the four parts of SCP-4246-1 closest to Doctor ███████ wheels around while making a sort of bouncing motion
Doctor ███████: I'm glad. Genuinely, it gives my old heart some joy to simply partake in an activity with something new and unknown. I hope you understand that I mean you and your… Host? No harm.
SCP-4246-1: SCP-4246-1 tilts the nearest part of itself to Doctor [REDACTED], hovers down towards his hand, and harmlessly taps the light scratch marks still visible on the back of his hand twice.
Doctor ███████: We behaved… Rashly. We were not aware that you were a sentient entity, simply a defense mechanism. I, and the people around me represent an organization dedicated to keeping anomalous things safe and keep people safe from them. We hoped to do that better with a greater understanding of your host. We would do this by analyzing samples taken from his body. I assure you, I mean no lasting harm to your host. We just wish to understand and secure.
SCP-4246-1: SCP-4246-1 gave a strange barrel roll in the air, before moving forward and giving Doctor ███████ a still harmless but sharp tap to the forehead.Doctor ███████: I'm asking for permission to take samples of SCP-4246 for testing.
SCP-4246-1: SCP-4246-1 responded to Doctor ███████'s request with little movement. When Doctor ███████ pulled out a piece of paper with 'yes' and 'no' on it, SCP-4246-1 tapped an end of one of its boomerangs on 'no'.
Doctor ███████: Your primary task is protecting SCP-4246, right?
SCP-4246-1: SCP-4246-1 responded by tapping 'yes' without hesitation. the least responsive of SCP-4246-1's parts was the one to do so, while Doctor ███████'s primary contact of the four remained hovering in front of him
Doctor ███████: Is there anything I can do to prove that I can be trusted with a sample of SCP-4246?
SCP-4246-1: SCP-4246-1 responded to this by tapping 'no'.
<End Log>
Closing Statement: Doctor ███████ expressed regret that he could not convince SCP-4246-1 to cooperate and suggested that further behavioral analysis of SCP-4246-1 would be more valuable than a physical examination of SCP-4246, though he was confident that SCP-4246-1's nonlethal nature would not change. Doctor ███████ was placed in charge of further behavioral analysis of SCP-4246-1.
Test D - 6/14/2017
Subject: SCP-4246-1
Procedure: Agent ████ proposed placing SCP-4246 in a position that would seem impossible to protect itself from, either from another SCP or otherwise. SCP-4246 was placed in an underground bomb testing facility and surrounded with small, armed nuclear warheads. All warheads were detonated at the same time.
Results: SCP-4246 was found in a 'sphere' of green 'energy' produced by SCP-4246-1 rapidly rotating around it. Observers cited the energy being as if they could 'see' wind. SCP-4246-1 remained in this state until the chamber was purged of radiation.
Analysis: SCP-4246 was completely unharmed. Doctors on site took readings on Geiger counters and confirmed that SCP-4246 hadn't been irradiated in any way. Not a hair was out of place. SCP-4246-1 was recorded on camera behaving in a way that could have been described as 'smug'. Further testing on SCP-4246-1's ability to protect SCP-4246 has been canceled.
Test E - 8/27/2017
Subject: SCP-4246-1
Procedure: Doctor ███████ displayed a series of images for SCP-4246-1 to measure its understanding about its surroundings and its purpose. SCP-4246-1 was given a keyboard and ample time to answer each question and make each observation.
Results: SCP-4246-1 answered mathematical questions precisely, but displayed little understanding of its current location or the status of the facility, and failed to recognize any image of an SCP that could safely be shown. It grasped questions regarding the human psyche with pinpoint accuracy and later answered questions regarding how it would react to specific situations, including the exact ways it would harm others in retribution. Finally, it identified SCP-4246 as 'Zephyr', the 'Guardian of Wind'.
Analysis: SCP-4246-1's significant knowledge of human nature led Doctor ███████ to believe that SCP-4246 is, in fact, a human being, albeit an anomalous one. Further speculations could not be confirmed in any way. What SCP-4246's significance as the 'Guardian of Wind' is remains unknown.
As of 10/1/2019, It was confirmed that SCP-4246 does not age. At no point since its containment did SCP-4246 awaken or react to any stimuli. containment procedures during tests do not increase the chance of success but result in lesser injuries and reduction of trauma from being pushed into walls by bursts of unnatural wind.
Doctor ███████ maintains contact with SCP-4246-1 and is treated like a friend by SCP-4246-1, but is not allowed to perform examinations of SCP-4246's body beyond observation without retribution from SCP-4246-1. Doctor ███████ admits to accessing video recordings of interactions with SCP-4246-1 for amusement but has not violated site protocol as it pertains to captured footage.
