Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept in refrigerated containers, with temperatures never to exceed -10o celsius. Specimens are only to be thawed for research by approved personnel.

Description: Instances of SCP-XXXX resemble blood flukes of the genus Schistosoma; however, internal structure does not resemble any known species.

Instances of SCP-XXXX behave in ways comparable to known members of genus Schistosoma, and use humans as their food source as well as a place for females of the species to lay eggs. The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX manifest themselves approximately 10 days after infection. Human hosts report incredibly vivid dreams. These dreams, while only occurring during the REM sleep stage, appear to last much longer in the minds of the host. Hosts describe the dreams as lasting from 24 hours to over 100 years. The content of these dreams varies by host, and depend on a multitude of factors including the host's mental state, prior life events, physical health and many others. How SCP-XXXX manifests these symptoms is as of yet unknown.

Depending on the content of the host's dreams, infection by SCP-XXXX can result in serious mental strain and psychological trauma to the victim. All infected hosts are to be treated with appropriate procedures. When rid of all observable instances of SCP-XXXX hosts are to be given class-D amnestics.
