Item #: SCP-5000
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5000 must be kept in an air-tight chamber at all times. If not, the SCP will exit the chamber. In the event of a breach, all Foundation Personel must wear a gas mask to prevent it being inhaled. Any members of any task force in MTF which are in the area must attempt to recontain the SCP. Failure to do so will result in termination. The combatives attempting to recontain the SCP must try to get the SCP in an airtight jar, or other airtight containers.
The cell must also be checked regulary to see if there is any any cracks the SCP may be able to seep through. The airlock at the chamber door must also be given maintenance work on a weekly basis to ensure the airlock does not break at any time. When using the airlock, scientists must make sure the airlock chamber is depressured before opening the last door. The cell must also be checked to make sure the SCP has not escaped. It is also mandotory that Doctor [REDACTED] interacts with the SCP on a weekly basis. This is thought to help with containment, but reasons are uknown.
Description
SCP-5000 appears to be some kind of sentient gass, which, if inhaled is extremly lethal, however the reason is unknown, but it is thought to destroy the lungs. The SCP itself is invisible, but can be heard. However, this is a not very reliable way to know if it is around as it sounds to come from all directions, even if the person is right in front of it. This applies to behind, the left side, the right side etc.
SCP-5000 was first discovered in [REDACTED] in the year [REDACTED]. It was reported by local fishermen who reported feeling lightheaded when in the area, and even some dying. Mobile Task Force Beta-7 was sent in to investigate. After weeks of investigations, Beta-7 found the SCP. They immediately attempted to get the SCP in a jar, which, after many hours, was succesful. The jar was immediately transported to the nearest area, and was set free in a chamber wich had many months of testing. The SCP will oftentimes get agitated, and will try to escape be corroding the walls, most attempts were unseccesful.
Addendum
Recent testing has indicated SCP-5000 to be a cognito-hazard, possesing all living objects and such that enter the containment area, and often uses them to try to escape. The O5s have agreed to attempt to neutrilize the SCP, and termination testing has begun. Most reasons to try to neutrilize the SCP has been redacted, but some are listed: The SCP is a cognito-hazard, it breached containment multiple times, and the main target for the Chaos Insurgency for breach attempts. No termination test has succesful as of now.
