I Surely Is

The on site janitor was swapping away at the thick black spot on the ground. The lights began to flicker to a soft red that went on and off with the beat of the siren that was giving him a headache. The stain was one of the hardest he's dealt with and he'll be damned if a breach was gonna stop him from finishing. Just as he scraped the last bit of black off the ground the sound of fast approaching footsteps explained to him something was coming. "Watch it, it's slippery down here." He warned, placing a "CAUTION WET" sign down. He looked up to see a woman who seemed of Asian decent in a researchers outfit running towards him, stopping to exclaim, "Oh thank God another surviver!" Relief washed over her until a thought crossed her mind. "Wait, how do I know you're not a shape shifter or something?", backing up as she talked. "Would a shaped shifter or something be mopping during a breach?" "Guess not… wait why are you cleaning right now, we need to get out of here!" "You're new aren't ya?" "Yeah, how'd you know?" "You would've been outta here by now. It takes a while to get used to the layout. I'm just leaving myself so you can follow me." He began walking down the hallway, mop and bucket in tow. The researcher hesitated for a moment, before deciding it was her best chance and hurried to catch up with him. "What's your name by the way?", she asked as she reached his side. "Don't worry about names during a breach." His answer confused her for a moment before it sank in. "Oh…"

They continued through the facility turning the corner to another white-walled hallway, and another, and another, some with black, metal doors, but mostly just white. Worry began to writh its way into her mind. "Are you sure you know where you're going? It feels like we've been walking for hours." "We have, layout is almost nonsensical so SCP's have a harder time getting out, keeps em in long enough to recontain them."

Suddenly faint crying came crawling from somewhere ahead of the two. "Oh god!" She exclaimed as she backed away. "Him? Oh he's fine, just… don't look at his face." He explained. They turned the corner to see a pale, thin, bald, and naked man with his backs to them covering his face with sharp, red fingers. The janitor walked by him, but not before pulling a plastic bag stashed in his pocket, piting it over the thing's head, and giving it a pat on the back. The researcher, both confused and terrified, hurried past it.

A few white hallways and and rooms later the janitor broke the silence by asking, "You hear what happened to Dr. Bright?" "Can't say I have." "Came down with some terrible disease he discovered, makes ya vomit up your organs, being written as an SCP as we speak." "Oh my god… that must have a terrible way to go." "Probably was." Only silence followed the reply.

A few minutes later the janitor turned into a room that wasn't just white walls, a break room, equipped with a fridge, cubbereds, a table and chairs, a trash can, and a vending machine. While a refreshing reminder that they were making progress, this didn't warrant taking a break in her mind. Worried, the researcher shared her concern, "We should keep going." "Gotta stay hydrated" The janitor stated, walking to the vending machine tucked in the corner. "Do you got any spare change?" "Sorry no." "Shame" he replied, preceding to grab the nearest chair and smashed it against the machines cover which, along with the chair, smashed into several pieces, revealing racks of soda cans, several of which rolled onto the ground. The researcher realed back with a "JESUS CHRIST!" The janitor grabbed two cans from the shelves, turned to the researcher, and asked, "Want one?" Still a bit shaken, she simply shook her head in rejection. He shrugged and put a can back. "Why didn't you just get water from the facet?!?" "I wouldn't drink the water here during a breach." He then opened the can, and preceded to chug it in just a few gulps and dropped it in the trash can, along with anything else from the floor he could fit in it, less of a mess to clean up later.
