Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: As of time of writing, containment of SCP-XXXX has proven to be insufficient by itself though with proper nutritional care and entertainment supplements, SCP-XXXX has shown evidence of reduced activity. SCP-XXXX is currently contained at area-69
SCP-XXXX is kept in a 10 x 10 m containment chamber with walls made of steel. A secondary layer of water-filled pipes are to be kept at a consistent 7°C or higher and proper maintenance protocol is to be carried out daily.
SCP-XXXX-1, formerly known as Dr Matthews (See Incident Log XXXX-2), is to be held inside of SCP-XXXX's containment chamber. SCP-XXXX-1 is to undergo daily psychiatric evaluation with the appropriate personnel who is aware of SCP-XXXX and its anomalous effects.
The containment chamber is to be checked daily for any damage done to the structure, both inside and outside of primary containment walls. Personnel who enter must have been briefed on 'XXXX-Education Protocol' before entry is permitted. In the event that personnel have had physical contact with SCP-XXXX, they are to be given a temporary Class-E status and monitored for any further psychological changes. (See addendum-03)
When SCP-XXXX-1 has been drained of its sanity (which takes around a month.) a new subject is to be fed to SCP-XXXX immediately before an incident occurs.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a slender, humanoid entity that resembles a human shadow; the entity does not appear to have a face though bright, white lights, similar to those of a human's eyes are a key distinguishing feature. SCP-XXXX has four black tentacles on its back that currently have no limit of how long they can become or how thick they can become. SCP-XXXX appears to have complete maneuverability of its four (4) additional appendages.
SCP-XXXX is an incorporeal entity as proven by a subject's inability to touch the tentacle-like appendages. Subjects report, upon coming into physical contact with SCP-XXXX, being unable to feel anything other than 'a cold spot' on the contact point.
When SCP-XXXX comes in contact with a human subject, the subject will report that SCP-XXXX has 'disappeared' out of view, despite being openly visible to those observing it. The current hypothesis suggests that SCP-XXXX has the ability to modify the subject's perception of itself instead of simply disappearing from the subject's perception. (See addendum-01)
As made apparent by the events detailed in Incident Log-2, SCP-XXXX cannot 'alter' a subject's mental perception of the anomaly if they had a full understanding of its anomalous effects beforehand.
When SCP-XXXX have done this it will proceed to stage two of its thought to be feeding process. There’s no current understanding to why SCP-XXXX does this to its victims, but it’s believed to be a way to feed on them.
The victims are referred to as SCP-XXXX-1
SCP-XXXX will at stage two start to follow SCP-XXXX-1 around and emit a sound at around 500 - 700 hz. This sound will only effect SCP-XXXX-1 but unaffected people can still hear it. SCP-XXXX-1 will experience extreme paranoia after living with this sound for more than 10 hours, this goes to every individual who is followed by SCP-XXXX. (Some experience this before the 10 hours have passed.)
SCP-XXXX has the ability to phase through any solid object except some that have proven to be much more difficult, the current found resources are. Steel, water or any liquid form over 7°C. SCP-XXXX acts as of it is in pain when it comes in contact with water over 7°C.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was first brought to Foundation attention in 2007 when a town in Sweden reported an unexplained illness. Investigation showed that SCP-XXXX had been infecting people one by one slowly over time with its illness. SCP-XXXX was first brought to Foundation attention in 2007 when a town in Sweden reported an unexplained illness. (See Incident-01) Provisional Research Site-██ was erected in place of the town in an effort to better research and understand SCP-XXXX's anomalous abilities.
SCP-XXXX illness:
The list down below are the symptoms that appear on SCP-XXXX-1 when SCP-XXXX feeds.
- Stage 1, After around 10 hours victims of SCP-XXXX (from now on referred to as subjects) will experience extreme paranoia.
- Stage 2, After around 12 hours of being followed by SCP-XXXX, subjects will experience a list of effects confirmed to be from the drug Methamphetamine. Effects include: Dysphoria, Insomnia, Paranoia and anxiety. No more effects have been documented.
- Stage 3, After around 27 hours of being followed by SCP-XXXX, subjects will fall asleep at random times, when this happens subjects enter REM sleep even though they appear to still be awake by staff working with SCP-XXXX. Since the subject is in REM sleep, REM atonia should effect its body in such a way that all muscles loses their strength during the REM period. But since that doesn’t happen, it means that the subject has RSWA (REM sleep without atonia.) That is believed to be the cause of a drug. Under these REM periods, subject will experience severe nightmares, explained to be the scariest experiences they’ve ever had. That report has come from multiple individuals effected.
- Stage 4, After around 38 hours the REM periods have stopped and subjects will experience extreme cases of paranoia and anxiety. Subjects have explained to see and hear things, some have claimed to hear a voice inside their head explained as frightening.
- Stage 5, After around 50 hours subjects claim to see a monster with the description of SCP-XXXX. Most subjects remain in the corner of their containment chamber at this stage.
- Stage 6, After around 59 hours SCP-XXXX will grab onto the subject with its tentacles. One through the mouth, one through the nose and one through the right eye of the subject. This process has been declared as emotionally and physically uncomfortable to the subject. After that the subject will be left in a depressive state, when looking into the eyes of the subject (that is now designated as SCP-XXXX-1), they are pitch white and drip a black, mucus-like substance confirmed to be similar to the substance that comes from SCP-106 Subjects are usually disconnected and quiet after this state and do not go back to their original personality, when asked what the problem is most have answered. “Something is missing.”
SCP-XXXX causes extreme depressive illness in subjects. The subject is tormented by nightmares over and over until their sanity is broken and SCP-XXXX switches to a new source of food.
