Special Containment Procedures:
The spindel of which the tape is contained upon is an off-white. The room in which the tape is kept must be cooled to exactly 8.469°C (47.784°F) as to make sure that the tape cannot be destroyed/damaged.
The tape can also NEVER come in contact with any direct sunlight as this to has the possibility of destroying/damaging the tape.The UNIT in which the tape is placed must have constant maintenance and must be check that it works properly
on a monthly basis on the 4th of every month but without ever triggering the tape in anyway. This process can (and usually does) take the entire day.
Description:
File-9866498 is a file that exists on a data tape from XX49, Which is placed on SCP 5XXX-1. The UNIT has no plug but it still seems to have power and is able to run we are unsure if this is due to the tape.
The tape SHOULD NOT be translated into any language which is understandable any sentient being as this could possibly have{REDACTED}.
This could affect could also happen if the tape is damaged/destoyed.
We believe this to be true after test-004, Previous tests 001, 002 and 003 seemed to not produce the same affect.
We are unsure of any the effects of 5XXX that have taken place during the time of the known existence of the tape and UNIT to the SCP Foundation. It would also be impossible for us to be able to know of any change to due to the
effects which it has when used by the UNIT. At this current moment in this {REDACTED} we have no way of knowing anything about the affects which might have {REDACTED} but We believe that SCP-5XXX has been
used a number of times for the purpose of change.
The Tape and Unit were found in an data centre in the UK, by [REDACTED PERSONAL] who found them on June 9th XXX4 while doing server maintenance at [REDACTED]. We are unsure if [REDACTED PERSONAL] (turns out they did) turned on the machine at all upon finding it as they seem to have little to no memory of SCP-5XXX and SCP-5XXX-1 other than seeing it on June 9th XXX4. We are unsure if any affects to place but we also have no way of knowing they did
due to the possible nature of SCP 5XXX.

Description:
The Tape recorder in which SCP 5XXX is placed is an old IBM 729 magnetic tape unit used for storing data. It has a mostly off-white paint job with a middle of the machine a muted pink along with some buttons and the other spindel.
The machine itself is identical to any other IBM 729 magnetic tape unit apart from the plug not being attached.
Testing and Research:
through examination by researchers of the tape recorder, no conclusive information about the power source of SCP 5XXX-1 can be obtained other than it's not from any mains source.

"Good evening, [redacted] how are you doing?"

"I'm quite well but where am I and who are you?"

"That's good, so do you remember the shift in which you encountered the IBM 729 UNIT at {REDACTED}"

"Ummm… "I'm not sure what you are talking about"

pulls out a picture of SCP-5XXX and shows it to G "Maybe this will help you remember?"

"Ah yes, I seem to remeber that UNIT it was quite strange to see it among all the others"

"How so?"

"Well It seemed quite strange as it was by itself in the corner and was much older than the other I'd say from XX49-ish, and again where am I?"

"I see, do remember if you turned it on at all?"

"nope' but I did feel like something changed"

conclusion: [REDACTED PERSONAL] activated the machine but has no memory of activating the machine or of the change

On September 8th XXX6 after letting the tape run for 4(?) seconds exactly {I think}.
I had feeling like I had closed for a second and forgetten something maybe it was important or not but I immediately turned off the machine knowing whatever it was, the tape had caused it.
On that day Dr.Macgregor deemed it appropriate that the tape and UNIT be kept away from anything that could potentially activate it in the small chance that the difference might be much much worse whatever it might be.
