Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a Standard Anomaly Containment Cell, Type S, and to be provided food by containment specialists a specially-constructed mechanical arm to prevent the object from interacting with staff or electronics twice daily.

Personnel interacting with the object must wear clothing that fully obscures their face and body.

Addendum XXXX-1A: The cell used to contain the object is to be made impermeable to as many forms of EM radiation as possible, soundproofed, heatproofed, reinforced, and warded.

Interaction with the object must now be fully vetted by two Senior Researchers, the Site Director, and two experts in AI Safety.

Research done on the object requires any involved personnel to first use anterograde amnestics, and any individuals found not to use these should be either administered Class-D amnestics or terminated.

Research, where direct communication with the object is necessary, may only be performed by D-Class personnel who have been taught Lojban, or, when it is complete, Foundation Logical Dialect 4.2, to avoid subliminal communication by the object.

Any information that is deemed sufficiently useful to extract must be summarised by the testing staff, then passed through a chain of personnel, similarly under the effects of short-term memory blockers, who must translate the information through numerous forms and randomised synonyms in an effort to prevent the object from controlling the outside world in any way not permitted.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an African Grey Parrot (Psittacus erithacus) that possesses cognitive and linguistic capabilities far exceeding human averages. The object can communicate in a cogent and understandable manner in English, Czech, Russian, and likely other languages, although its speech is affected by its throat structure.

Line-of-sight with the object results in a sharp decline in cognition in observers, proportional to the length of exposure, with no recovery possible. Subjects exposed to the object have IQ reductions of up to thirty points, among deteriorations in multiple other cognitive metrics, particularly Openness to Experience. The object must be able to view a subject’s eyes or skin for the effect to occur.

The object was initially acquired by MTF Eta-10, from "█████████ Petstore", which had adopted a business strategy as advised by the object. Foundation economic monitoring designed to catch individuals using anomalous means1 to game stock markets registered the pet-store as a possible hit, and covert investigation resulted in the discovery of SCP-XXXX.

The object, on discovery, was controlling the pet store's staff, who had been subject to the object's effects, apart from a junior employee, who was discovered dead in a back room, missing chunks of flesh from his body. Human flesh was later found in multiple animal cages.

While initially adversarial in dialogue, the object adopted a supplicant and polite tone when recontained after Breach-4A62, and is generally forthright in interrogation, to the point of offering assistance with its containment. Despite this, it shows no remorse for its anomalous effect.

The end-goals of SCP-XXXX are unknown, if they exist at all, but the object's behaviour may be based on the fulfilment of desires expressed in victims of its anomalous effect, which is the leading hypothesis for why the object continued to grow the aforementioned pet-store business, and why it now offers advice on containment procedures.

Addendum XXXX-1B: The advice derived from SCP-XXXX was immediately perceived as highly useful by numerous researchers, and while protocol demanded that the suggestions would be rigorously examined before implementation, it became clear that many staff, even those who had not directly interacted with the object, were acting under the influence of the object.

Special Containment Procedures were updated when it became clear that SCP-XXXX poses a massive risk to Foundation security and integrity, as its superintelligence makes all avenues of interaction theoretically cognitohazardous.

All Site-██ personnel were administered Class-D amnestics, all documentation generated in the time since first interaction was expunged, and all offsite personnel who had communicated with possibly compromised personnel were similarly amnesticised.
