Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5147 is stored in the Foundation's low hazard object vault, and must be signed out only for testing by class 2 science personnel or higher. SCP-5147 is located in the MTF Armory and can only be removed for testing by scientific personnel or by MTF personnel for defense of Foundation facilities.

Description: SCP-5147, otherwise known as "The Marksman Rifle," is a Mk 14 Enhanced Battle Rifle fit with a 10x fine-hair scope. Like non-anomalous Mk 14 Enhanced Battle Rifles, it is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, and SCP-5147 can use any magazine designed to be used in any Mk 14 Enhanced Battle Rifle. What makes SCP-5147 anomalous is that, other then the magazine and bullets, there are no removable parts, including the scope, the scope automatically adjusts for wind and bullet-drop, it can only be fired in semi-automatic, should a bullet be fired, and not hit a living target, the shooter receives a fatal wound consistent with being hit by the bullet fired at approximately the same distance that the bullet would have been stopped entering the shooter's chest. SCP-5147 has the serial number ██-████████. The serial number belongs to a rifle owned and used by former US Navy SEAL Lt. ███████, who was a sniper for SEAL Team █.

SEAL Lt. ███████ used SCP-5147 for his deployments, and has 37 confirmed kills. After leaving the military, ███████ bought his rifle and took it back to his house. 304 days after leaving the military, ███████ took his own life, shooting himself in the chest with SCP-5147. After ██████'s death, the US Navy regained possession of SCP-5147. After the Navy took possession, Petty Officer 2nd Class Seth Meyers attempted to clean the rifle, and was unable to field strip the weapon and decided to try to test the weapon. Petty Officer 2nd Class Meyers set up a metal target 150 meters out, and attempted to fire the rifle from a prone position with Petty Officer 1st Class ██████. When PO2 Meyers fired, the bullet did not strike the target. PO1 ██████ assumed it was a blank or some form of misfire, and gave a call for a second round to be fired, and it was only when he did not hear the confirmation that  PO1 ██████ noticed that PO2 Meyers was dead. PO1 ██████ called his commanding officer, Commander ████, to inform him of the incident, who then notified the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the base's Master-at-Arms unit. The Master-at-Arms unit kept PO1 ██████ detained, until NCIS could start an investigation, MTF unit Iota-10 intercepted and replaced the NCIS team that was sent.  Iota-10 took possession of PO1 ██████ and SCP-5147. PO1 ██████ was interrogated by MTF personnel and was ████████ as accordance with policy.

Transcript from December 12th, 2015 testing, Doctor Carmen Overseeing.
Dr. Carmen: SCP-5147 is loaded with 10 7.62x51 NATO rounds… safety is off and is set to automatic. Ok, D-54111, when I give you the signal, you will pull the string. Pull the string back hard and far enough to sustain full, automatic fire.
D-54111: Just… pull the string?… And let it shoot randomly?
Dr. Carmen: More or less… ok pull.
D-54111 pulls the string, audible grunting is heard from D-54111.
D-54111: What the hell? I checked the safety, the bolt, the mag… this should be firing.
Dr. Carmen: Ok, noted… Now take the string off and fire it manually.
D-54111: In fully automatic, and at a target 15 meters away?
Dr. Carmen That is correct.
D-54111: Ok.
D-54111 removes the string, manually aims the rifle, and pulls the trigger. A single gunshot is heard and D-54111 is thrown back. Medical personnel and Dr Carmen examine the body of 54111.
Dr. Carmen: Wounds are consistent with an Mk 14 EBR fired center mass at 15 meters… dispose of the body and bring in the next subject.
Medical personnel assisted by D-55612 and D-33541 remove the corpse of D-54111 and D-12129 is sent in. The NATO E-type Silhouette was removed, and a 857 pound (388.7 Kilogram) Duroc pig is tied roughly 350 meters away.
Dr. Carmen: Ok, D-12129, take aim at the target, and fire one shot when ready.
D-12129: At the pig? At this distance?
Dr. Carmen: Yes. Scope is set up, just breath, and fire.
D-12129: Uhh… ok?
D-12129 takes aim and there is a couple of seconds before a gunshot is heard. Shortly after the shot is fired, there is  a loud squeaking of a pig lasting 1.5 seconds. The round struck the pig in the upper lung, killing the pig.
Dr. Carmen: Good hit, target is down. Take aim and fire again.
D-12129: Uhh… at what?
Dr. Carmen: Same target.
D-12129: Ok?
D-12129 takes aim again, and fires a second shot at the recently deceased  pig. Just under a second after the shot, D-12129 grunts in pain as he collapses. Medical personnel and Dr. Carmen assess the body and confirms wounds are consistent with an Mk 14 EBR fired center mass at 350 meters. Examination of the pig's corpse reveals only the lethal first shot.
Dr. Carmen: Ok, that's the end of today's tests. The bodies of D-54111, D-12129, and that pig shall be examined.

Test ███ Dr. ████ Overseeing.
D-15559 was chemically sedated and tied to a table. D-59███ put SCP-5147 upto D-15559's right leg and fired one shot. The bullet entered D-15559's leg, missed the fibula, shattered the tibia, exited the leg and was caught by the sandbag wall setup behind D-15559. After the shot, medical personnel who were standing by attempted to save D-15559's life. Attempts were unsuccessful, and D-15559 died from blood loss.

Addendum 5147.1: Comments from Doctor Harris Grim, Lead researcher of SCP-5147
As of yet, we are unsure if SCP-5147 became anomalous before or after the Lieutenant's suicide, however the Lieutenant was shot in the chest just like those who shoot and don't hit living targets. However with the way and location the SCP was found by the police, as well as the wounds make it look like a suicide. (Note: no suicide note was found, and the lieutenant was not showing signs of depression or PTSD) The Lieutenant was an excellent shot, over his multiple deployments, he fired 37 shots, killing 37 insurgents. He appears to to have taken the motto 'one shot, one kill' to heart. As of right now, it is hypothesized that the bullets are 'teleported' to the shooter just before it hits the non-living object. It seems that every time the gun is fired, is requires life… As of now I recommend further testing on the ballistics to see when and how the bullets change direction and position to strike the user. Additionally, I wish to test the lethality of the gun. How is it that what ever get hit by the gun ends up dead.
Further tests to come.

SCP-5147's ability to kill living creatures may mean that it could be able to kill or incapacitate other SCPs that to this date can not be killed by other means. Further testing required.

Addendum 5147.3: MTF use of SCP-5147
Due to the lethality of SCP-5147, I wish to formally request to move SCP-5147 to the MTF armory, and allow MTF operatives to use it in field operations.

Your request to move the SCP to the MTF armory has been approved, however, it shall not be used in field operations. The SCP maybe used by approved members of MTF Epsilon-11 and Nu-7.
