[[tab Trombone and Mute]]
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B are to be kept in a crate that is at least 3 cubic meters. During testing, the objects are not to be separated by a distance greater than 10 meters. At least once a week, XXXX-A is to be used by one D-Class personnel and used with XXXX-B at least once a month. During testing with XXXX-B, any staff within 50 meters of the object are to minimize actions that produce sound.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a trombone and trombone mute, considered SCP-XXXX-A and SCP-XXXX-B, respectively. Both objects are made out of the same material found in non-anomalous versions, with XXXX-A being made of brass and XXXX-B made of a wood-based product. When XXXX-A is used, the user will gain the skills of a professional trombone player. If they are given a piece of music, the user appears to instinctively know the piece and proceeds to play through the music with little or no errors. When XXXX-B is inserted into the end of XXXX-A opposite to the mouthpiece, all sounds except for those emanating from XXXX-A will not be received by the user. When the mute is removed from XXXX-A, all sounds that were made within 50 meters from the time of the insertion of the mute to the removal will be received by the user all at once. While this rarely results in death from the increased air pressure, the user will often lose most or all of their hearing due to eardrum rupture.

If the objects are separated by a distance of more than 10 meters, if XXXX-A has not been used in more than one week, or if XXXX-B has not been used in more than one month, all living things within 25 meters of either object that have the ability to hear will lose their hearing until both objects are used again, after which their hearing returns to normal.
