Description: SCP-XXXX refers to over 100 candles found by the SCP Foundation from the year 1942 to present , the candles have the appearance of grave lanterns or candles, and are colored red with slight ornamentation in the form of parallel spirals on the outer glass. The lids are golden with holes on the sides to allow oxygen to reach the flame, on top of the lid are the words "Death's Door Candle Co." in bold, black letters, a cartoon style grim reaper is above the text.

The candles are found on gravestones with no person visibly placing them or standing near the grave at time of appearance, they are commonly placed on gravestones of young1 deceased males with ten or more surviving family members. SCP-XXXX functions similarly to an average candle, and can be extinguished and relit normally. The candles last far longer than normal, approximately several months to a year under perfect conditions, SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest in photographs taken by family members of the deceased after the candles have been placed. Extinguished candles no longer present anomalous properties even after being relit.

The photographs, known as SCP-XXXX-1, are analog photographs, digital photography does not display anomalous properties even after being developed. The photographs affected always feature family members, sometimes in large groups; the deceased will appear in the photo, usually nearby someone that was considered particularly close to them, such as a sibling or parental figure. The deceased will always appear to be smiling, rarely making gestures around or towards family members in a playful manner.
