Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed in a standard containment unit fitted with a drainage system at Site-36. The atmosphere and temperature of the containment unit is to be maintained and monitored in order to prevent the formation of condensation. SCP-XXXX is to be examined on a bi-monthly basis for any signs of degradation or damage. Under no circumstances are liquids of any kind to be introduced into SCP-XXXX's containment unit except for research purposes. Research may be conducted by any researcher with access level 1 or above, upon approval by any senior researcher at Site-36.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a clawfoot bathtub of unknown make and model. SCP-XXXX is made of solid white porcelain, with a thin sheet of solid black wrought iron molded to the outside, with the feet being made of brass, though both the clawfeet and cast iron exterior have been discolored due to oxidation. SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties manifest themselves when a liquid, typically water, is introduced to the interior of the tub. Through the liquid, the inside of the tub, normally white, appears black. When a sufficient volume of liquid has been introduced, an object totally submerged in the liquid will sink into an unidentified body of water, hereby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, with the inner surface of the tub acting as an opening into this body of water. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be completely devoid of light. Chemical analysis of the water indicates an average salinity of 3.5%, nearly identical to sea water, though tests using radar beacons have failed to locate any terrestrial location associated with the anomaly. Further analysis has also indicated a complete lack of biological matter, an observation supported by exploration efforts (see Experimentation and Exploration Log).

Recovery: SCP-XXXX came to the Foundation's attention when an agent embedded in the local police force of █████, India reported a possibly anomalous disappearance; █████████████, a ██ year old residence of █████, contacted the police in a panic, reporting that her husband, ██ year old ██████████, was "swallowed by the tub." The local police force initially assumed foul play on the part of █████████████, but further investigation conducted by Foundation agents revealed SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties and led to the conclusion that ██████████ had sunken into SCP-XXXX and failed to resurface before drowning. █████████████ and those with the local police force involved in the investigation were given Class-A Amnestics and feed the story that ██████████ had left the country to pursue an affair.

Addendum 1: Experimentation and Exploration Log

Experiment #1

Experiment Purpose: To visually observe the area around the entrance to SCP-XXXX-1.
Experiment Description: SCP-XXXX is filled with approximately 170 liters of water. A wireless, waterproof camera, connected to a laptop, is completely submerged in the water, and enters SCP-XXXX-1. The camera quickly sinks beyond the researchers' view, and a connection is established between the terminal and the camera. The camera shows only particulate matter, believed to be a mix of inorganic sediments, floating through the light of the camera for 23 minutes before losing connection. The water is drained from SCP-XXXX.

Experiment #2

Experiment Purpose: To locate a terrestrial location, if one exists, for SCP-XXXX-1.
Experiment Description: SCP-XXXX is filled with approximately 170 liters of water. A series of 10 (ten) buoyant beacons, each with an attached radio broadcasting device, are introduced into SCP-XXXX-1 one by one. The beacons rapidly ascend, and their signal is lost within 1 hour and 45 minutes of deployment. Foundation satellites and oceanic exploration vessels begin monitoring radio frequencies for signs of the beacons' signals. To date, none have been located.

Experiment #3

Experiment Purpose: To locate the surface and/or bottom of SCP-XXXX-1.
Experiment Description: Upon request by Dr. Lido, a specialized drone small enough to fit in SCP-XXXX was designed by Dr. ██████ and Dr. █████. The drone contains a pressure gauge, a thermometer, a wireless camera, lights, and a propulsion system. SCP-XXXX is filled nearly to capacity, approximately 350 liters, with water. The drone, hereby referred to as the Remote Aquatic Exploration Vehicle (RAEV) is submerged into SCP-XXXX and enters SCP-XXXX-1, sinking beneath the researchers' view. The researchers preform a diagnostic and take initial readings. The thermometer indicates a water temperature of exactly 21 degrees Celsius, and the pressure gauge reads exactly 1013.25 mbar.

After the initial diagnostics, the researchers maneuver the RAEV's camera toward the point of entry, where the surface of the water in SCP-XXXX can be seen from underneath. First attempting to locate the surface of SCP-XXXX-1, the researchers direct the RAEV upward. The RAEV ascends for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, with no measurable change in light levels, pressure, or temperature. After the 2 hours and 15 minutes, the RAEV's battery reaches 75%, at which point the researchers move to the second objective of the experiment, finding the bottom SCP-XXXX-1. Allowing the RAEV to sink saves significantly on batter power, allowing the RAEV to descend for approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. No changes in pressure or temperature occur throughout the duration of the experiment. After the 5 hours and 30 minute descent, the RAEV is moved back to the boundary with SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1, and resurfaces. The water is drained from SCP-XXX.

Experiment #4

Experiment Purpose: To further explore and identify any variation in SCP-XXXX-1.
Experiment Description: SCP-XXXX is filled with 350 liters of water. The RAEV is once again deployed into SCP-XXXX-1, and is moved parallel to the boundary with SCP-XXXX. The RAEV progresses forward for approximately 3 hours and 25 minutes, with no measurable change in pressure or temperature. After the 3 hours and 25 minutes, the RAEV's thermometer indicates a rapid drop in temperature and increase in pressure, decreasing from 21 degrees Celsius and 1013.25 mbar to [DATA EXPUNGED] (Dr. ██████ and Dr. █████ anticipated high pressures in SCP-XXXX-1 and designed the RAEV to function at up to 10,000 PSI). As the temperature and pressure stabilize, the RAEV's lights illuminate an object in the distance. As the RAEV approaches, more objects similar in appearance come into view, until [DATA EXPUNGED] all curled into the fetal position.

The [DATA EXPUNGED] and all appear perfectly preserved despite the pressure, save for one abnormality; [DATA EXPUNGED]. These growths resemble [DATA EXPUNGED], though they are milky white in coloration, with some structures possessing a buff coloration. The growths [DATA EXPUNGED] with no visible wounds through which they could emerge being observed. During its observations of the growths, the RAEV makes contact with a protruding growth and becomes immobilize. After 5 hours and 50 minutes, the RAEV's batteries die, and the connection with the researchers is lost. The water is then drained from SCP-XXXX.
