Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are to be contained in two separate standard storage lockers at Site-19. For testing, both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 need to be placed in a standard experimentation chamber. The space 1m in front of SCP-XXXX-2 must be clear of any other objects or personnel. All audiovisual output from SCP-XXXX-2 is to be relayed to an adjacent screening room where the footage must be captured for later review and archiving.
All experiments conducted on SCP-XXXX must be authorised and supervised by the active Head Of Research of Site-19, all footage that is to be played on SCP-XXXX-2 must be screened by at least one (1) additional Level 4 personnel before testing may be authorised. If the footage contains information that has been classified by the Foundation or if the footage has previously undergone redaction by the Foundation, Class A amnestics must be held on standby in case any highly classified information gets leaked in the process of testing.
Update ██-██-████: All footage that has previously undergone redaction by direct order of the O5 council may not be played on SCP-XXXX under any circumstances.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is comprised of two distinct objects, hereafter named SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2, respectively. Both objects display different anomalous effects on their own (hereafter Secondary Anomalous Properties). The Primary Anomalous Property of SCP-XXXX will manifest only if both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 are directly connected to one another by the use of an EIA Multiport cable. Testing has revealed, that the cable originally used to connect SCP-XXXX (see Recovery Log XXXX) does not possess any anomalous properties in itself, leading to the conclusion that any EIA Multiport cable may be used, regardless of length and make. However, a direct and unintermittent connection between both devices needs to be present for the anomalous effect to emerge.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a █████████-brand CRT TV, manufactured in 199█. The screen measures 63cm (25'') in its diagonal. SCP-XXXX-1 is identical in appearance to any other TV manufactured by █████████ except for one discrepancy: SCP-XXXX-1 is missing both the IEC power connector and the F Type connector - typical for other devices of the same model - at its back-side. The only available fitting is a female EIA Multiport connector.
Whenever a device capable of producing audiovisual input (such as a DVD player) is connected to SCP-XXXX-1 using the EIA Multiport socket, the Secondary Anomalous Property of SCP-XXXX-1 manifests: SCP-XXXX-1 will turn, despite the apparent lack of power supplied to SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 will then proceed to correctly display the input.
SCP-XXXX-2 is a █████████-brand DVD player, manufactured in 199█, the same as year as SCP-XXXX-1's production. Similar to SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 is missing all but one connector fitting at its back-side, the only remaining connector being a female EIA Multiport socket.
Whenever a device capable of producing audiovisual output is connected to SCP-XXXX-2, SCP-XXXX-2 will power on and open its disk tray, allowing for a medium to be put in. This effect always emerges, despite the apparent lack of power supplied to SCP-XXXX-2 and regardless of whether a medium is already present in the tray or not. SCP-XXXX-2 will play any media it is supplied with normally.
If a DVD containing video footage of any kind is played on SCP-XXXX-2 while it is connected to SCP-XXXX-1, all footage will be displayed uncut and uncensored. The process for obtaining these missing parts is unknown. It appears, that all recorded and produced raw footage is included in its entirety in SCP-XXXX's playback. This effect will always emerge, even if all digital and physical copies of the raw footage have been previously destroyed (see Testing Log XXXX-C-0X).
Addendum:
Notes on SCP-XXXX-2's Disk Tray Extension:
SCP-XXXX-2 will open its disk tray upon being connected to an output device. The disk tray will always open fully, moveable objects blocking the extension of the tray will be pushed out of the way. If an immovable object is blocking the extension of the tray, SCP-XXXX-2 will exert enough strength to push itself away, allowing for the tray to open. If SCP-XXXX-2 is lodged in between two immovable obstacles and then connected to a device as described above, the tray will exert enough force to destroy one or both obstacles, until the tray is fully open. For details, see Testing Log XXXX-B. The maximum pushing force of the tray has been estimated to be ██ MPa. The actual upper limit may be much higher, research to reveal the maximum force that can be exerted is ongoing.
