Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a 2x2 foot carbon container filled to three-quarters capacity with eye drops. The container is to be kept in a low oxygen 5x5 foot guarded airlock and containment cell on Site-21 with 4 large vacuum pumps individually attached to each wall, and 4 smaller pumps on each side of the container. Under no circumstances are unauthorized persons allowed to remove and/or open SCP-XXXX. Any instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are to be immediately terminated via suffocation. Traces of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be extracted via pump. Any personnel attempting to remove and/or open SCP-XXXX are required to wear 4-layered "space suits" with tinted plexiglass visors. Personnel are required to take a psychatric test to determine the "strength" of their mindset. If their will is not at a suitable level, they are to be immediately escorted off of the premises. SCP-XXXX is to be viewed via X-ray and electronic imaging.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a dark-brown book with a large bloodshot eye in the center of its cover. It is 7x10 inches in size, composed of leather reminiscent of that of a pig and a goat, the pages sharing this makeup. Personnel who look directly into the eye will gain a strong desire to visit their place of origin. Direct "eye" contact is not to be made with SCP-XXXX when not under proper supervision. This urge, while compelling, is resistible with enough willpower. The pages of SCP-XXXX are filled with well detailed diagrams of the eyes of many different species, shifting its contents in a consistent pattern of 12 hours and 15 minutes. Due to SCP-XXXX constantly altering its pages, the exact number of species is unknown. If the eye is ever dried out, SCP-XXXX will "cry" a corrosive silvery-white substance with similar properties to mercury. The substance (labeled SCP-XXXX-1) does not give any form of moisture, and appears to actively antagonize SCP-XXXX by attempting to "slither" into its pupil. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be capable of being affected by SCP-XXXX suggesting an extensive amount of sentience contrary to its appearance. SCP-XXXX-1 "sees" via [REDACTED] similarly to a [REDACTED].

When a person gazes at one of SCP-XXXX's pages for 3 seconds, the individual will "look" through the eyes of the creature described in the diagram, altering the individual's genetic code in the optic nerve and occipital lobe, and allowing the individual to see the world how the aforementioned creature would. Studies show that this effect of SCP-XXXX does not influence creatures with a lower intelligence then that of an average Homo Sapien. At random intervals SCP-XXXX will spawn a small constantly shifting object resembling a posterior vitreous detachment (eye floater) directly outside of its container, which will actively seek out living things. Upon coming into contact with a living creature's eye, the object (designated SCP-XXXX-2) will fuse itself with the afflicted's eye. SCP-XXXX-2 will then proceed to [REDACTED] the eye, promoting a fast growth of cataract-like anomalies in the pupil, iris, and retina. Following Incident SCP-XXXX-01-20, instances of SCP-XXXX-2 are not to be kept alive for extended periods of time without proper supervision.

Incident SCP-XXXX-01-20-: On [REDACTED], D-35656, was ordered to walk into SCP-XXXX's cell. Upon entering, an instance of SCP-XXXX-2 that was kept alive for approximately 5 months, immediately latched onto the subject's pupil. However, instead of its normal affliction, it proceeded to dry out and hang off the pupil in a similar manner to that of a Greenland shark parasite. D-35656 showed no reaction to this behavior, other than gasping for air (although this was caused by the low oxygen environment). After 5 minutes, D-35656 reported to be shallowly breathing and losing melanin fast in the stroma of their iris, with their cognitive functions dropping fast. After 10 ten minutes, D-35656 ceased all brain activity, before sharply spiking, then exploding in a thick puddle of SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 dying immediately on the action. The puddle appeared to be of the same quantity as an average Homo Sapien's blood count, suggesting SCP-XXXX-2 converted every blood cell in D-35656's body. SCP-XXXX-1 was quickly removed from the containment, and D-35656's remains were quickly [REDACTED].
