Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: The land surrounding SCP-XXXX has been purchased by the Foundation and fenced off with a three (3) km radius. Site XXXX has been constructed as a base of operations on the northwestern edge of the perimeter, and has been placed under the foundation front “Santa Fe Construction Projects”. Armed guards disguised as construction workers will be manned in groups of three (3) every 200 m around the perimeter. Research into SCP-XXXX will be approved by no fewer than two (2) level 4 personnel.
All video exploration of SCP-XXXX is prohibited following Incident XXXX-Sekhmet is currently on hold, however personnel may submit a request to Dr. Watterson for a non-video transmission exploration. Upon approval, Mobile Task Force Omicron-10 (Valued Customers) is to carry out the exploration. All items obtained from the explorations are to be added to the Log of Recovered Purchases.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a large shopping complex located approximately █ km southeast of Santa Fe, NM. The title “Infiniplex Shopping Center” (sic) is written in bold black typeface on a large illuminated board above the entrance. The building’s exterior measures 200 m x 175 m, and is comprised primarily of cement and brick. There are two dome skylight windows on its roof, made of blue-tinted glass and a metal frame, that overlook the non-anomalous interior. Ventilation is visible on the roof as well, but appears non functional.
SCP-XXXX is in a state of severe disrepair, and appears as if it has been abandoned for a prolonged period of time. Windows on its exterior have either been boarded up or painted over. There are few functioning lights in and around SCP-XXXX, as most are either missing or broken. SCP-XXXX does appear to have a power supply, though the location is as of yet unknown.
Entering SCP-XXXX through any means other than the eight sliding tinted-glass doors at the front of the complex (e.g. breaking through a wall) will result in the non-anomalous interior of a stereotypical shopping complex in the same fashion as would be constructed in 19██. The anomalous interior of SCP-XXXX, as accessed by the aforementioned sliding doors, is significantly larger than its exterior, with the longest current exploration extending to 108 km. It has been speculated that SCP-XXXX does not possess an end.
SCP-XXXX-1 are a variety of retail and merchandising “outlets” that are common for similar shopping complexes, such as restaurants, clothing retailers, home improvement stores, and movie theaters. SCP-XXXX-1 will be “inactive” for the first kilometer within SCP-XXXX; following this, SCP-XXXX-1 will have an added 5% chance of being “active” for every subsequent kilometer. All active SCP-XXXX-1 have been found to be fully stocked, and all foodstuffs appear not to have decomposed. If a person observes an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, leaves SCP-XXXX, and returns, the previous instance will not be present, and instead have been replaced with a new, previously unobserved instance. How this is achieved is unknown.
SCP-XXXX-1 appear to “degrade”, or deviate from how a non anomalous outlet of the same model would appear outside SCP-XXXX. Examples of degradation include changes in spelling, products, outlet design, and [DATA EXPUNGED]. Distance from the entrance also determines the stability of SCP-XXXX-1, or how anomalous SCP-XXXX-1 may get. Many instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found past █ km appear to possess Class-Juliet cognitohazards.
SCP-XXXX-2 are anomalous humanoid entities located within active instances SCP-XXXX-1. Like SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2 “degrade” further into SCP-XXXX. Entities found closer to the entrance appear to be humans or beings closely resembling humans, while entities found further inside SCP-XXXX are more distorted, vaguely humanoid entities with signs of severe physical alterations.
Upon seeing a human, SCP-XXXX-2 will attempt to detain him or her as well as sell them an object from the outlet in which SCP-XXXX-2 originated. Methods of this include advertisement, sexual enticement, physical imprisonment, and on four recorded instances, severe [DATA EXPUNGED] resulting in the subject’s death 24 hours later. If the subject refuses, or is otherwise incapable of purchasing an item from SCP-XXXX-2, they will be met with hostility. It should be noted that SCP-XXXX-2 tend to lack decent muscular strength, although it has been observed that this is not true for SCP-XXXX-2 located further into SCP-XXXX. To date, 29 personnel have been lost to attacks by SCP-XXXX-2.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX came to the attention of the foundation on 11/19/1997 following multiple reports of missing children in the Santa Fe area. Rumors were picked up from an undercover agent working in █████████ school about students last being seen before setting out to perform a unique form of urban exploration. SCP-XXXX was located and fenced off 3 days later. Class C amnestics were administered to all students and faculty of the school, who were then provided a cover story of an escaped convict capturing children.
Addendum XXXX-A: Following Incident XXXX-Sekhmet, containment procedures have been revised and the perimeter expanded. SCP-XXXX is currently pending an update to Keter class. Video exploration of SCP-XXXX is currently on hold. Personnel wishing to conduct an exploration must submit a formal request to Dr. Watterson.
Addendum XXXX-B: As of 03-07-2006, SCP-XXXX has been denied an update to Keter class. Incident XXXX-Sekhmet was clearly a result of human error, rather than of the anomalous nature of SCP-XXXX. Until someone can bring forth viable evidence as to why SCP-XXXX is inherently and extremely difficult to contain, it is to remain Euclid. -O5 ██
