Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3208 is to be held inside a 10 meter by 15 meter by 3 meter room with steel-plated walls and a reinforced steel blast door at Site ██. The room is to be filled with various comfortable appliances and furniture such as a couch, a bean bag chair, and a television with parental control enabled in order to avoid showing any violent or inappropriate content. Calming music is to be played while SCP-3208 is awake except when tests require SCP-3208-1. At least two people must be with SCP-3208 at all times. One must watch over SCP-3208 and the other must closely watch SCP-3208-1. Nothing must be allowed near SCP-3208 that might scare or anger SCP-3208. The parents of SCP-3208 are allowed and often encouraged to remain near SCP-3208-1, although they are recommended to keep their distance during tests. If SCP-3208 experiences severe emotional distress, the parents of SCP-3208 and assigned psychologists must be notified immediately.
5000 watt light bulbs are to be positioned on the ceiling so that three lights can be focused on SCP-3208 at all times in case SCP-3208-1 appears. The lights are also to be positioned so that no three lights will all be within █ meters of any given position in the room. Differing wavelengths do not produce differing results as long as they exist within the visible spectrum. However, light at wavelengths below 400 nanometers or above 665 nanometers have proven ineffective.
Description: SCP-3208 is the combination of two entities: a human child (SCP-3208) and shadow being (SCP-3208-1).
SCP-3208 is a 10 year old Caucasian male named ████ ██████. SCP-3208’s height is ██ cm and ██ kilograms. SCP-3208 is mild and nonviolent, often trying to help researchers when possible. SCP-3208 claims to know little about SCP-3208-1 and is often afraid to even talk about it. Psychologists have observed that SCP-3208 suffers from severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, likely due to past experiences with SCP-3208-1. SCP-3208 claims to possess no control over SCP-3208-1.
SCP-3208-1 is the shadow of SCP-3208. SCP-3208-1 has displayed many anomalous properties such as sentience, transformation, and shadow interaction. If SCP-3208 is afraid or angry, SCP-3208-1 will attack the source of these negative emotions. SCP-3208-1 can change its shape in order to grow larger and develop deadly claws. When SCP-3208-1 attacks, it attacks the shadow of its target and all damage done to the shadow is reciprocated to the target. All of these actions are done without the will of SCP-3208 and usually against it. SCP-3208-1 can stretch its body to reach up to █ meters from SCP-3208.
SCP-3208-1 is directly connected to SCP-3208’s shadow. If SCP-3208 does not produce a shadow, then SCP-3208-1 cannot appear. SCP-3208-1 cannot damage an object that does not produce a shadow and has been proven to be deterred by strong lights focused on it. SCP-3208-1 does appear to receive damage from intense light, even returning to normal after prolonged exposure, but any damage done is not permanent. Dr. ███████ believes that the only way to destroy SCP-3208-1, would be to kill SCP-3208.
Addendum 3208-A: In order to judge the limits of SCP-3208-1, D-5328 was ordered to fire paintballs at SCP-3208. Upon firing SCP-3208-1 appeared and the paint balls all missed. Frame by frame analysis of camera footage shows that SCP-3208-1 attacked the paintballs while they were flying to protect SCP-3208. SCP-3208-1 then quickly lunged for the shadow of D-5328. Lights were enabled to discourage SCP-3208-1, but SCP-3208-1 managed to inflict massive gashes across D-5328’s body first. D-5328 survived the attack and is being studied for any abnormal symptoms. None have yet been observed.
Addendum 3208-B: After the parents of SCP-3208 asked to repeat the paintball experiment with themselves as the shooters, SCP-3208 was again shot at by paintballs. The paintballs again missed their target, but this time remained were stopped midair by SCP-3208-1 and remained unbroken. The paintballs were then handed back to the parents of SCP-3208 and then SCP-3208-1 disappeared. No harm was inflicted on either of the parents.
Request 3208-2002-d: Dr. Ronalds has requested testing SCP-3208 with SCP-173 in order to test the speed and ability of SCP-3208-1.
