Item #: SCP-4541
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-4541 outside of testing is to be contained inside a 4m x 4m x 4m aluminum coated room in Site-19's Research Sector-01. It is also to be provided one (1) electrical discharge of no less than 100 Watts of power daily. Personnel frequently coming into direct contact with SCP-4541 has to wear some form of protection against beta radiation. Information stored using various means (audio, video, electronic) is to be supplied on a monthly basis as part of testing.
Update: As the aftermath of incident 4541-1 and considering that the chances of any threat subject might pose are very low, it is permitted one hour daily, during which it is free to roam around Site-19's recreational areas. After that, it must be escorted back into its containment chamber.
Description: SCP-4541 is an amorphous entity, consisting of a moving cloud of symbols originating from different alphabets, codes and cultures, currently of approximately 2m in diameter and a spherical core, approximately 20cm in diameter. Symbols inside the cloud are composed of an unknown material with a smooth, glassy surface and a deep purple color. The core is presumably made of gold, and has several lines engraved on its surface which make up a complex pattern, along with a deep, large symbol of an open eye carved in its "front". The eye is confirmed to be the way SCP-4541 perceives its surroundings.
Although SCP-4541 does not have a set shape, it is able to freely control the form which is assumed by the cloud. In earlier stages of its containment it often took the shape of a sphere, or any regular polyhedron, and more recently - a form resembling a silhouette of an adult man. It is also able to control and alter the symbols, and using them manipulate different objects and tools.
Symbols inside of the cloud change constantly, and most of them are as of yet undeciphered and/or unidentified, but the known ones include (and are not limited to):
- letter "s" from Latin alphabet
- letter "ф" (f) from Cyrillic alphabet
- letter "Δ" (delta) from Greek alphabet
- "O.K. Hand" symbol
- letter "き" (ki) form Hiaragana alphabet

Subject appears to feed on electricity, and while it is doing so, both its core's engravings and symbols in the cloud glow a warm, soft light of their respective colors. As a side effect, the subject produces steady, small doses of beta radiation, which can be harmful to personnel not wearing sufficient protection if exposed to for too long.
As by the time of writing, SCP-4541 is completely sapient and constantly developing its conciousness. It is able to communicate with Foundation personnel by changing shapes of and aligning symbols within the cloud to form words and sentences, and is fluent in English, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Polish, Japanese and several other languages. After recently being supplied with audio recordings of conversations on various topics, the subject started emitting sounds mimicing human speech. When questioned about it, subject replied it was "learning new ways to communicate".
SCP-4541's personality is curious, empathic and outgoing. When facing aggresion, it will try to avoid violence and calm the situation, but won't hesitate to cause harm if the situation escalates (see Test Log 03). Its nature is mostly calm and co-operative, and knowledge, in most fields, coherent to that of a high school senior year student. Extended periods of testing have determined that subject has an IQ of 135.
As SCP-4541 receives new information, the cloud component is observed to create new symbols by mutiplication, thus becoming denser and/or larger. It is speculated that it's the way subject stores information, as it was not able to answer this question.
Addendum 4541-1: SCP-4541 was discovered on 11.05.2016 during investigation of electricity based anomalous activity inside the University of ██████. Mobile Task Force Mu-4 ("Debuggers") was in the process of searching the library's reading room, when one of the agents reported a quiet banging noise coming from one of the computers. It turned out to be SCP-4541, significantly smaller at the time, which got itself stuck. Subject immediately attempted to flee, but was quickly recovered and transported to Site-19, where it currently resides.
