Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
Foundation agents located in the towns of Tria, Bozn, and Innsbruck will lead a procession consisting primarily of locals emulating the appearance and behavior of SCP-XXXX. Foundation agents will pressure participants to wear bells designed for agricultural use and encourage participants to engage in movements that maximize the auditory output of these bells.

Foundation agents are to disregard instances of SCP-XXXX, interacting with them as if they were participants in the banishment ritual. The ritual will progress from a predetermined area towards the outer edge of the urban area over the course of at least two hours. Foundation agents are to monitor the presence of any instance of SCP-XXXX and continue the banishment ritual until all instances of SCP-XXXX have been neutralized.

Areas in which dematerialized SCP-XXXX are concentrated are to be closed to the public under the guise of environmental protection.

Description:

SCP-XXXX are a population of semi-corporeal humanoid creatures bearing traits resembling an anthropomorphized member of the genus Capra. SCP-XXXX currently reside exclusively within the European Alps, with populations concentrated in the Austrian Alps and the Italian Tirol. SCP-XXXX are non-corporeal for the duration between the completion of the ritual outlined in the containment procedures and the Winter Solstice. Following the Solstice, SCP-XXXX instances will begin to materialize over a period of five days.

SCP-XXXX will begin to converge on the towns of Tria, Bozn, and Innsbruck during the five day period. SCP-XXXX are hostile and destructive, violently pursuing any individual not dressed as SCP-XXXX with simple wooden clubs and causing structural damage wherever possible. SCP-XXXX avoid entering populated areas until at least 12 total SCP-XXXX are present.

SCP-XXXX display herdlike behaviors, instinctively following anything they determine to be a larger group of SCP-XXXX. Given the limited cognitive and sensory capabilities of SCP-XXXX as is currently understood, SCP-XXXX are unable to distinguish crude approximations of themselves as artificial, though more accurate portrayals of SCP-XXXX have shown a notably increased neutralization rate.

SCP-XXXX become far less active and show lessened hostility and destructiveness in the presence of the sound created by bells worn by livestock, such as the genus Bos or Capra. Damage caused to structures by SCP-XXXX becomes largely superficial. SCP-XXXX perform threat displays involving shouting, the beating of their club or arms against the ground, and growling, rather than attacking other forms of life. Due to the simplistic and repetitive behavior of SCP-XXXX emulation by foundation personnel and locals does not require extensive rehearsal.

After no less than half an hour of exposure to the banishment ritual instances of SCP-XXXX will dematerialize. In this form, SCP-XXXX are incapable of physical or mental interaction with sentient life. However, nonsapient life within the proximity of instances of SCP-XXXX become visibly distressed and attempt to leave the vicinity of SCP-XXXX; however, long term exposure has proven that nonsapient life acclimates to the presence of SCP-XXXX and gradually returns to normal behavior.

Dematerialized instances of SCP-XXXX typically leave urban areas within six days of dematerialization. It is unknown if continuations of the banishment ritual reduce this time period. While non-corporeal SCP-XXXX continues to demonstrate herdlike behavior and are typically concentrated in a few remote regions in the alps.
