Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX must be contained in SCP-XXXX-1 and to be kept at less than 50% relative humidity at any time. The integrity of SCP-XXXX-1 rubber gasket is scheduled to be verified every 43 days. If verification results negative, procedure SCP-XXXX-Tau must be executed.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a white, solid and odorless powder with a granularity of 16.73 Phi on the Krumbein scale. Its chemical composition is unknown. SCP-XXXX is actually stored in SCP-XXXX-1, a transparent glas jar of 1000 ml volume with cover plate and bearing the following label¹:

If SCP-XXXX is brought in contact with H₂O, it immediately disintegrates and transforms itself in pure water. Other chemicals do not have any impact on SCP-XXXX. A minimal amount of consolidated water is required to start the reaction, and relative humidity levels below 60% do not trigger the effect. Tests performed by Dr. Brandmuller after incident Eridanus-23 resulted in a volume ratio of 1 (solid SCP-XXXX) to 10⁶ (H₂O).

Report: Incident Eridanus-23

Location: Research Site Y-████, Lab A.17

Present: Dr. ███████████ (deceased), Assistant ███████ (deceased)

Event:

48h after the Incident. Lab A.17 cleaned of debris and with windows replaced shows structural damage on its walls.

The service schedule for Dr. ███████████ and Assistant ███████ on the event date indicated that both were charged to perform procedure SCP-XXXX-Tau. Evidence taken from the surveillance system mounted on the ceiling of lab A.17 showed that Dr. ███████████ started the procedure at 13:42. After step 4 of the procedure, SCP-XXXX-2 was standing open (i.e. without cover) on the labs table. At 13:47 Dr. ███████████ was suffering from what seemed to be a medical condition and thru uncontrolled arm movements tipped SCP-XXXX-2 and consequently spilled SCP-XXXX. Against the procedure mandatory regulation that no H₂O containing items must be present, Assistant ███████ left a cup of [REDACTED] on the table which was hit by SCP-XXXX. The resulting reaction produced enough water to completely flood lab A.17 and destroy Sector C of Site Y-████. The surveillance system stopped recording at 13:48.

Outcome: SCP-XXXX-2 and its content of about 900 ml SCP-XXXX was destroyed. SCP-XXXX-1 was stored in Sector F during the event and secured at 14:54. Procedure SCP-XXXX-Tau was ammended with Steps 3a and 5a as follows:

• Step 3a: Move the jar into the lab chamber. Close chamber and use manipulators A1 and B1 to perform the next steps.

• Step 5a: Remove jar from lab chamber
