whale

A photo from an expedition from MTF Gamma-6 encountering SCP-XXXX.

Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-XXXX's anomalous abilities, full containment of SCP-XXXX is currently impossible. Further study and testing is required on the subject matter.

SCP-XXXX presently occupies a 350 mile area underneath the ██████ Ocean, this area is designated as Zone-88. Personnel of clearance level 2 or higher currently assigned to SCP-XXXX must repeatedly acquire SCP-XXXX's location within Zone-88 with advanced sonar equipment developed by the Foundation. Personnel will spend 12 months on-board Foundation Submersible D-11 containing the sonar equipment. After 12 months D-2 will take its place and continue D-1's work, and personnel of D-1 will be relieved of their assignments for 12 months. Thereafter the cycle will continue. Location of the specimen must be updated every 2 minutes until either instructed to stop by any level-4 security cleared personnel, or if the continuous acquisition of SCP-XXXX's location is no longer an option. Task Force MTF Gamma-6 will also be alerted of SCP-XXXX's location at all times.

SCP-XXXX is to be kept inside Zone-88 using shrimp baits. Under no circumstances is D-1 or D-2 allowed to come into contact with SCP-XXXX. Decision to do so will result in severe disciplinary actions. Civilians passing through the area must be intently observed by drones deployed by D-1 or D-2. If activity relating to SCP-XXXX occurs, immediate intervention is to be held and protocol Lastic-X will be initiated. All civilians rescued will be administered Class-B amnesics.

Description: SCP-XXXX is depicted as a lone female humpback whale of the ██████ species group. Attempts at further evaluation of SCP-XXXX's body and abilities has led to failure. See Addendum-02. SCP-XXXX dives to depth no more than the average humpback whale. 150-210 meters below sea-level. SCP-XXXX is not hostile when observed passively, but will become hostile when provoked.

SCP-XXXX has the ability to manifest █████ rifts anywhere around it within a 100m radius. These are instances of SCP-XXXX and are identified as SCP-XXXX-A. SCP-XXXX-A instances act as ████, and seem to have an indefinite range once manifested in the 100m area of SCP-XXXX, and have ranged in size from ██████ in diameter and height. Always presenting itself as a perfected oval. SCP-XXXX-A instances average 5 minutes of operational activity before it absurdly destabilizes and SCP-XXXX-A closes. SCP-XXXX uses SCP-XXXX-A instances for feeding purposes by means of transporting shrimp.2 Although constant observation of SCP-XXXX's behavior since it's discovery have showed some exceptions to this. See Addendum-03.

SCP-XXXX-A exploratory missions using drones have ultimately ███████. See Test-Log 1A3. The specimen cannot seem to vocalize in any way. It is theorized that in the past SCP-XXXX was part of a pod of whales. Communicating through SCP-XXXX-A. Attempts at resolving SCP-XXXX's intelligence level has lead researchers to the conclusion that the entity has ██████ intelligence. Indicating the opportunity to establish a way of communication with SCP-XXXX. See Test-Log 1A4. It is unknown if SCP-XXXX can be killed or can expire from old age. SCP-XXXX-A instances are indestructible, and will only dematerialize once un-stabilization occurs.

Addendum-01: Discovery

SCP-XXXX was discovered 20 miles off the coast of Malaysia. Local news stations in the area reported on a "Supernatural Entity" in the area causing thousands of shrimp, (Specifically Red Cherry Shrimp), to flood fishing boats. The Foundation had the news report shut down, and applied Class-B amnesics to all witnesses. Shortly after, the Foundation ordered task force MTF Gamma-6 to investigate the 20 mile area off the Malaysian coast. Approximately on 03/22/██ at twenty four hundred hours, (Two days after the incident), SCP-XXXX was encountered by Submersible MTF-Gamma ("Deep Rock"). MTF-Gamma ("Deep Rock") attempted to subdue SCP-XXXX when roughly 20 meters below sea-level. All projectiles shot from "Deep Rock" too SCP-XXXX were re-directed by the SCP-XXXX-A instances towards an unknown destination. At zero one-hundred hours of the same date, MTF-Gamma-6 lost contact with "Deep Rock" after an assumed instance of SCP-XXXX-A transported "Deep Rock" to an unknown location.

Following this, MTF Gamma-6 issued several expeditions of various sizes in order to either contain or secure SCP-XXXX and instances of SCP-XXXX-A. On 03/25/██ the Foundation successfully secured SCP-XXXX in what is now identified as Zone-88. No further civilian encounters have occurred with SCP-XXXX or SCP-XXXX-A. No breaches have occurred in Zone-88 as of inscription of this document.

Due to SCP-XXXX's relatively recent discovery and semi-containment, further Tests and Experiments are scheduled in the near future. Document will be updated appropriately.

Addendum-03:

Addendum-03C: Test Logs and Video Log.
Test 1A3
Subject Drone-2P.
Protocol Drone-2P was maneuvered into an instance of SCP-XXXX-A.
Results SCP-XXXX-A abruptly closed while Drone-2P was seconds from entering. Drone-2P captured a deep blue glow radiating out of SCP-XXXX-A. Note: *This SCP-XXXX-A instance was already used for feeding by SCP-XXXX.*
Test 1A3-C
Subject Drone-2D
Protocol Drone-2D was maneuvered into a free fall aimed exactly at the center point of an SCP-XXXX-A instance.
Results Drone-2D successfully penetrated SCP-XXXX-A, and was immediately submersed underwater once entering. Drone-2D captured a group of Red Cherry Shrimp slowly moving towards the opening of SCP-XXXX-A. Drone-2D's GPS device was used to acquire its current position. It reported as being 300 miles off the Coast of █████. Several seconds after this report was received by personnel, SCP-XXXX-A abruptly destabilized and Drone-2D was cut off. Note: *Drone-2D was recovered off the Coast of █████ several days later.*
Test 1A4
Subject Submersible D-1 equipped with an artificial WCM3.
Protocol D-1 was instructed to attempt communications with SCP-XXXX via the WCM.
Results D-1 attempted communications with the WCM for several minutes. The WCM was redirected directly towards SCP-XXXX near the termination period of the experiment. Approximately 20 seconds before termination of the experiemnent, an SCP-XXXX-A instance appeared near SCP-XXXX. Upon manifesation it released a loud █████. Upon personnel's ears detecting the █████, all personnel went deaf for a period of 30 seconds. Experiment was terminated shortly after the ██████ was released. Data is currently under study by researchers in order to determine origin point, and whether or not SCP-XXXX attempted communication or if it was a malevolently provoked response.
