Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard 5m x 5m x 3m containment cell at Site-██ and turned off when not in use. Two 20cm x 10cm x 1cm steel plates should be kept on a steel work table within the cell unless otherwise specified by Site Director or Dr. ██████.
Foundation personnel of level 2 security clearance or higher are allowed to enter SCP-XXXX's cell to converse with SCP-XXXX-1 if they are not assigned any other tasks, or are on break. Staff must obtain permission from Site Director or Dr. ██████ in order to transport SCP-XXXX throughout the facility, or to other Foundation Sites or Areas. One armed guard must stand at the containment cell entrance at all times to regulate access to SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a standard ██████ brand XMT-304 welding machine and occompanying wire feeder. The machine currently rests on a hand-made, portable steel cart to allow for easy transportation, as well as storage of supplementary parts and attachments. Attachments for SCP-XXXX include an SMAW electrode holder, a GMAW gun (currently installed in the wire feeder), a GTAW torch, and a ground cable. In addition, the cart also holds SCP-XXXX's original shielding gas cylinder, which is capable of holding any mixture of inert gases for the purpose of welding. The gas contained within the cylinder can changed instantly by SCP-XXXX-1 as needed. It should be noted that SCP-XXXX does not require an external power source to operate.
SCP-XXXX-1 resembles a male human of average build, standing at approximately 183cm in height. The entity wears standard welding Personal Protective Equipment, including black leather composite-toe boots, denim pants, and a navy blue flame-retardant cotton jacket with leather sleeves. In addition, SCP-XXXX-1 dons a pair of reinforced leather gauntlets (typically), a black welding cap of flame-retardant cotton, and a ███████ brand traditional welding helmet.
SCP-XXXX-1's helmet cannot be removed or lifted up by any means, and, due to its shape, completely conceals the entity's face. Despite the helmet's lense being ANSI Shade 11, it does not appear to impede SCP-XXXX-1's vision in any way. SCP-XXXX-1 is capable of depositing or retreiving any item from any pocket on its person, and frequently does so to switch glove types, access tools, or replace consumable welding materials, such as SMAW electrodes or GTAW electrodes.
The entity only appears when "summoned", which is done by placing two or more pieces of mild steel or stainless steel within proximity to SCP-XXXX and turning the machine on, at which point, SCP-XXXX-1 will suddenly appear. Eye witness accounts of this process claim that SCP-XXXX-1 does not come out of SCP-XXXX, and "just suddenly exists" next to it. A frame-by-frame analysis of surveillance footage confirms this. When the "summoning" process was completed, SCP-XXXX-1 was not visible for seven frames, but was visible in full in the eighth frame and beyond.
Despite being able to appear and disappear at will, SCP-XXXX-1 is completely corporeal, and is able to physically interact with objects and people in its surroundings. However, any attempts to harm or otherwise damage SCP-XXXX-1's physical form results in the entity disappearing before damage occurs. This makes taking blood samples difficult. SCP-XXXX itself shows no resistance to damage, however, other than that of the materials it is constructed out of. Careful testing shows that dents and scratches can be made in the outer casing. It is theorised that complete destruction of SCP-XXXX will cause SCP-XXXX-1 to no longer be able to appear.
After appearing, SCP-XXXX-1 will ask the nearest person specific questions about what needs to be done with the parts provided. If no instruction is given, or nobody is in the room, the entity will begin to use SCP-XXXX to weld the parts together at its own discretion. This usually results in the parts being joined in a logical configuration to create what could potentially be used as a part for a larger construct. More uncommonly, SCP-XXXX-1 will use provided materials to make art pieces. Occasionally, under these circumstances, the entity will ignore the material and disappear after a short while.
If instructions are given, SCP-XXXX-1 will continue to prod for additional information until it has a solid grasp of the request. Once satisfied, it will procede to build the item to exact specifications, utilising squaring and measurement tools it obtains from its pockets. Once completed, SCP-XXXX-1 will present the finished product to the person who requested it. If satisfaction is displayed, the entity will disappear and SCP-XXXX will power off. If disapproval is shown, SCP-XXXX-1 will inquire as to what needs to be altered on the part. If no instructions on how to improve it are given, or the person in question insults SCP-XXXX-1 or its work, SCP-XXXX-1 will become frustrated and disappear.
