Welcome to the SCP Foundation Wiki!
Welcome to the SCP Foundation wiki - here you’ll find a plethora of introductory information regarding the wiki, the community, staff, and more.
What is the SCP Foundation Wiki?
Great question, my internet-based friend! The SCP Foundation Wiki is a massive collaborative-fiction website. Most, if not all, articles on this wiki are related to the SCP Foundation.
Then…what is the SCP Foundation?
Simply put, the SCP Foundation, in-universe, is a foundation that focuses on the discovery, recovery, containment, and research of anomalous objects, organisms, situations, events, et cetera.
Writing on the SCP Foundation Wiki
Writing and articles found on the SCP Foundation Wiki come in various forms, the most popular/prominent being SCP articles, Tales, and GoI format articles.
SCP articles are the most common (and most popular!) type of article found on the wiki. SCP-173 is the most famous example of an SCP article, being the very first article the site ever had1. SCP articles are the Foundation’s internal documentation system of all the anomalies that they contain. Each one has an identification number, specialized containment procedures to keep the anomaly contained, and a description of the anomaly. SCP articles are found on what is referred to as the ‘mainlist’, as the Wiki was founded and for the most part revolves around these articles. SCP articles are sometimes referred to as ‘skips’ or ‘scips’ as slang.
Tales are simply short stories based in or around the SCP-universe in any format that the author desires. Poetry, chapter-segmented stories, scripts, et cetera - anything that doesn’t fit into an SCP article or a GoI format article is classified as a Tale. These can expand on previously written SCP articles, be standalone stories, or anything else the author can dream up.
GoI formatted articles are ones that are set from the perspective of a GoI - a Group of Interest. Groups of Interest are groups that the Foundation has identified as also dealing in the anomalous - sometimes they are classified as enemies to the Foundation, sometimes they are used as allies, and sometimes still the Foundation simply observes them. To learn more about Groups of Interest and GoI format articles, visit the Groups of Interest hub.
