Harry, the Handyman

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is currently held within a standard humanoid containment cell at Site 19 furnished to resemble a middle to upper-class New York apartment, including standard utilities found in such locations. Television and internet access is allowed, though available content should be regulated. From the hours of 9am to 5pm and up to three additional hours afterwards, SCP-XXXX is allowed free access of Site 19, along with any and all standard janitorial supplies. SCP-XXXX is to be given a bi-annual employee review during the months of January and July, and its salary adjusted according to said review's results.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is an African-American male standing at six feet, five inches tall, weighing approximately 236 lbs, age {REDACTED}. His head is shaved bald, and styles his facial hair as a thin moustache and goatee. SCP-XXXX answers to 'Harry {REDACTED}' and has a generally positive demeanor to most members of staff, while not in an active state; at which point it acts cold and dismissive while on duty.

Between the hours of 9am to 5pm, SCP-XXXX is considered in an active state, and exudes a memetic aura that causes any sentient being within earshot of SCP-XXXX to be unable to speak, interrupt or otherwise distract SCP-XXXX; unless the topic of discussion involves work, or casual banter that would not hamper SCP-XXXX's daily schedule.

SCP-XXXX was originally part of the janitorial staff of Site 19, working for the Foundation for {REDACTED} months, before its anomalous properties were discovered. Those properties came to light when SCP-XXXX was found cleaning the containment cell of SCP-173, and SCP-173 did not attempt to attack the subject once, despite the subject breaking eye contact several times. This behaviour could not be questioned, as SCP-XXXX was still in an active state which lasted until it's work shift was over that day. When told of it's anomalous properties, and that it would be moved to a containment cell, SCP-XXXX's only concern was if it's pay would be cut. It was not.

Addendum:

The following is an audio log of an interview with SCP-XXXX, performed by Doctor {REDACTED}, conducted the following morning of its anomalous properties being discovered, before the subject's next work shift.

<Begin Log:>

Doctor: State your name for the record, please.

XXXX: Harry. Harry {REDACTED}.

Doctor: Thank you. What were you doing between the hours of 11am to 1pm yesterday?

XXXX: I was mopping that one room, with the weird statue thing in it.

Doctor: The 'weird statue thing,' Mr. {REDACTED}?

XXXX: Y'know… the one with all the blood and shit on the floor. Err, pardon my french.

Doctor: Are you referring to SCP 173, Mr. {REDACTED}?

XXXX: Uhh, I guess? I don't really pay attention to that stuff, Doc. I'm just a janitor.

Doctor: 173's containment cell is to be strictly maintained by D-Class personnel, Mr. {REDACTED}. Surely you've been made aware of this?

XXXX: Well, they do a piss poor job of it. Have you seen that place, Doc? Hell, have you -smelt- it? I could practically taste that odor all the way down the hall.

Doctor: Your personal grievances aside, that cell is far too dangerous for un-expendable staff to enter and exit. I would advise you to ignore it from now on.

XXXX: I guess I'm flattered that you're concerned for my safety, Doc. That statue does give me the creeps. Felt like it was peering over my shoulder the whole time I was in there.

Doctor: Wait, are you implying that there was a period of time where you were -not- directly looking at-

At this point in the interview, the subject entered its active state, as it's work shift would have normally begun at this time.

Doctor: Well, I don't want to take up any more of your time. Busy day ahead of you, I'm sure.

XXXX: Uh huh.

SCP XXXX gets up and leaves the room, the guards posted outside do not attempt to stop the subject, and Doctor {REDACTED} does not attempt to call the subject back.

<End Log>

It is theorized that SCP-173 did not attempt to escape while SCP-XXXX entered and exited its cell, as a containment breach would have greatly hindered XXXX's schedule.
