An instance of SCP-XXXX-01 found in its original location.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure room outlined with nylon carpeting along the walls, floor, and ceiling. Any contact with SCP-XXXX must be approved by Level 3 personnel or above. Insulated rubber gloves are mandatory before attempting any interactions with SCP-XXXX. Any materials containing an alloy with iron are forbidden to be brought into SCP-XXXX’s containment room. Depending on the nature of any SCP-XXXX-01, permission may be granted for the specific instance of SCP-XXXX-01 to reside along with SCP-XXXX, or termination may be required.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be an animated and sentient sphere of static electricity. Despite having an absence of any form of auditory or visual organs, SCP-XXXX has shown behavior that indicates it can hear and see without issue. Upon contact with bare skin from an organism, the contacter will experience a shock of about 24,000 volts and .001 amps from the specimen. The shock is not fatal, and has been described as “a weaker taser” from those affected. SCP-XXXX has never shown hostile behavior. In fact, the specimen appears to be rather curious with almost everything it sees.

SCP-XXXX displays further anomalous properties upon contact with inanimate objects containing either iron or an alloy with iron. Once contact is achieved, a shock is sent to the object, running throughout the entirety of it. After a brief moment, the object will then become animated and form a new instance of SCP-XXXX-01. Depending on the size of the affected object, it will take longer or shorter for larger or smaller objects to animate, respectively. Instances of SCP-XXXX-01 exhibit interesting behaviors, typically corresponding with what the object might have been previously. Current instances of SCP-XXXX-01 that have not been terminated include an animated suit of medieval knight armor, a gothic-style chained lantern, and a plastic skeleton with metal wiring inside. None of these instances of SCP-XXXX-01 have proven to be dangerous, and are currently permitted to be kept in SCP-XXXX’s containment as well. It is unknown whether these instances contain the sentience SCP-XXXX does, as they’ve only exhibited minimal and routine behaviors. The animated armor seems to remain by the entrance of SCP-XXXX’s chamber and observe, the animated lantern tends to follow all personnel who enter, providing illumination for them, and the animated skeleton seems to do nothing but perform various poses in multiple positions across the room.

Addendum XXXX-A: SCP-XXXX was recovered from an abandoned house located in a dense forest area in northern New York. Foundation personnel investigated the house after reports from local teenagers who had trespassed on the premises and had reported to the local police. The teenagers stated in the report that “A ghost had tried to kill us! That goddamn house is haunted, please, you have to believe us!”
Captain Finn Sharp and his squad had been tasked with investigating the scene. Upon locating the specimen, SCP-XXXX had seemed, and quote from Captain Sharp, “a friendly little bastard who was kinda cute in a weird way.” In addition, notebook entries detailing information about SCP-XXXX had been acquired by Sharp; please refer to Addendum XXXX-B for the logs. All instances of SCP-XXXX-01 were collected alongside the specimen and the notes and transported to the Foundation’s facilities.
