Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard containment locker at Site-11 and should not be removed beyond testing. Requests for testing with SCP-XXXX may be directed to Dr. Caballero or approved senior researchers; any such tests conducted must be supervised by either of the aforementioned personnel.
Any SCP-XXXX-1 instances created during testing are to be collected in a 500mL vial and stored with SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-2 instances are to be monitored for abnormal changes in behavior for two weeks following exposure to SCP-XXXX; any notable deviations from standard behavior are to be reported to Dr. Caballero and acted upon as necessary.
Foundation Webcrawler Iota-RU96 is to continue to monitor for any reports concerning the true nature of Incident XXXX-A or its relation to SCP-XXXX. Any such content found is to be immediately expunged, and its source investigated. Appropriate amnestics may be administered if deemed necessary to avoid a breach of secrecy.
All testing with SCP-XXXX and natural bodies of water is summarily prohibited by order of Dr. Caballero.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a small metal crucifix fashioned into a necklace measuring 3.86 cm tall by 2.64 cm wide composed of an unknown alloy, exact chemical analysis of which is impossible, as all attempts to remove sections of or break it have invariably failed. Although traditional material dating techniques are impossible, tests utilizing fHDS1 to have suggested the object to mostly likely be approximately a millennia old.
SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects manifest when held by a human subject, thereafter designated SCP-XXXX-A, and brought into contact with liquid water. Spreading from the point of contact, the touched mass of water will gradually be transformed into a liquid designated SCP-XXXX-1. The rate of generation can vary wildly and is thought to be related to the SCP-XXXX-A's emotional state. The generation of SCP-XXXX-1 will continue to spread outward from the point of contact until SCP-XXXX is removed, at which point the transmutation will cease. This process is only initiated when in contact with liquid water, and will not alter ice, water vapor, or liquids that have been "watered down." SCP-XXXX-1 instances do not mix with remaining water if the process is ended before the entire mass is transmuted.
SCP-XXXX’s effect will only manifest when in contact with water and does not activate when applied to any other liquid. Affected water will transmute at a slightly variable rate depending on the type of water, with seawater transmuting the slowest at 0.24 litres/second, but water extracted from a glacier transmuting at the fasted recorded rate of 0.47 litres/second. This has led researchers to believe that the purity of the water directly correlates to the speed at which it is transformed.
SCP-XXXX-1 instances invariably occur as red wine with an alcohol content of between 12.5% to 14.2%. Subjects that have consumed samples of SCP-XXXX-1 state that it has a taste the same as non-anomalous red wine, however 67% of subjects reported an increased desire to attend the next Mass service being held at the Site, with 24% of that number becoming regular attendees.
I really need to rehaul this lol
