SCP-XXXX prior to containment.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in Weapons Locker 7-C in a cooled box that keeps the temperature around the firearm at precisely 0° F (-17.8° C). Ammunition for SCP-XXXX is to be kept in the same chamber as the box and must not be removed when not used in testing. Individuals with violent tendencies are not to be allowed to handle SCP-XXXX under any circumstance, and all personnel wishing to conduct research on SCP-XXXX are to undergo psychological screening for violent tendencies prior to each research session.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an integrally suppressed VSS Vintorez marksman rifle fitted with a sling, PSO-1 M-1 optical scope and 20 round high-capacity magazine. Upon visual inspection, there are no anomalous properties that differentiate SCP-XXXX from other identical firearms. Tactile observation of SCP-XXX lends a more anomalous finding in the form of a passive warmth that emanates from all parts of the weapon, particularly the magazine, receiver, pistol grip, and suppressor assembly. Subjects describe the warmth as being "pleasant" and "soothing"; with multiple subjects requesting to use SCP-XXXX for warmth.

The ammunition for SCP-XXXX, designated SCP-XXXX-A, is a box of 9x39mm ammunition supposedly manufactured by the ████ Arms Plant. Further research into the company reveals that the company is essentially nonexistent. SCP-XXXX-A is virtually indistinguishable from non-anomalous subsonic 9x39mm ammunition aside from a marked red tip that is warm to the touch, similarly to SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is able to fire both SCP-XXXX-A as well as regular 9x39mm ammunition, with only the latter causing SCP-XXXX to rapidly overheat.

SCP-XXXX was acquired from an abandoned warehouse in the city of ████████ in the Republic of Dagestan along with fifteen more instances of SCP-XXXX, designated SCP-XXXX-1 to SCP-XXXX-15. Local reports describe Chechen militants as well as the armed forces of the Russian Federation approaching the warehouse and returning with severe burns and symptoms correlated with radiation poisoning as well as a strong conviction against the notions of war and violence. Reports indicate that instances of SCP-XXXX were retrieved by a group of local Dagestani peasants with a strong belief in pacifism as well as by two Spetsnaz operators who suffered no permanent consequences from SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects. Spetsnaz operator Lt. Kolya ██████████ states that SCP-XXXX was placed in the warehouse by an unknown detachment of GRU Spetsnaz forces for undisclosed reasons.

SCP-XXXX primary anomalous property is amplified when it is simply within the vicinity of an individual with "violent" beliefs (supporting war or violence) in that it rapidly increases in temperature and becomes unsafe for handling. SCP-XXXX's effects will gradually increase within the surrounding vicinity while the so-called "violent" individual's body temperature will similarly increase. Radiation levels within the vicinity of SCP-XXXX will also increase by a variable amount. Subjects experiencing this will often perish due to tissue damage similar to that of a three-dimensional sunburn or radiation exposure. However, individuals expressing "pacifist" beliefs (opposition of war and support of diplomacy) are completely unaffected. Such "pacifist" individuals describe handling the firearm as a "homey" and "cozy" experience that gives a "warm, fuzzy feeling". The ammunition for SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1, appears to have an identical anomalous property.

The mechanisms by which SCP-XXXX generates thermal energy, ionizing radiation, and its "pacifying" effect is unknown; but chemical analysis of the bolt carrier mechanism of SCP-XXXX reveals that it is forged from a metal of unknown composition. Whether this has any correlation with SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties is nebulous, but it is speculated that the two phenomena are unrelated.

Addendum #1: Requests to use SCP-XXXX for target practice by Foundation agents has been denied unless specific conditions have been met. The conditions are located in Document [REDACTED].
