Anomalous Item Holding Procedures: AI-612J02 is to be kept in a low security weapons containment locker within the special-issue section of the site-91 armory. The amount of security afforded to the armory has been deemed acceptable for containing JRX-XXX, when enacted in conjunction with the following procedures.

• JRX-XXX’s container shall be fitted with a steel door at least 5mm thick; and have a tamper-resistant, mechanically driven combination lock keyed to a five-digit or greater code. The containment locker must otherwise comply with standards for low-risk anomalous items.
• The armory quartermaster . In the event of unauthorized or suspicious removal, he or she must inform the chief quartermaster that JRX-XXXX is missing. Further action shall be at the chief quartermaster’s discretion.
• To prevent combat incidents resulting from attempts to use JRX-XXX during time of need, the container must have clearly visible warning in the two Site-91 accommodated languages: English and Irish Gaelic. Said warning shall state “This weapon does not fire. Do not use in combat.”

Anomalous Item Description: AI-612J02 is an Armalite AR-180 semi-automatic rifle, chambered for .223 calibre ammunition. The serial-numbers on all external parts have been filed away, most likely to prevent identification. Based on these modifications, and the circumstances of the item's recovery, it is likely that AI-612J02 was used by Republican paramilitaries in Northern Ireland.

The item bears moderate heat damage to the plastic furniture at its grip and fore-stock, which have become cracked and discolored near a pair of hand imprints.¹ The item's main anomalous property is that it cannot be fired. Although it can be otherwise operated normally, pulling the trigger has never caused the loaded round to fire.

The firearm is warm to the touch, emits a small but detectable amount of infrared radiation, and has a weak electromagnetic field. As no likely energy source have been found within the item, these extra-entropic emissions are considered its secondary anomalous properties.

Recovery: SCP-XXXX-N (formerly AI-612-J02) was recovered from the Loughall Police station in Loughgall, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, on ██/5/1987. According to, police records of the incident it was found on the corpse of Douglas █'██████, who had taken part in a Provisional Irish Republican Army ambush on the local Royal Ulster Constabulary station.² After rumors of "a gun which was always warm" began to spread around the town, Foundation connections within the RUC had the item secured for study.
