Special Containment Procedure: SCP-×××× is to be stored in Locker 282 of Safe Item Storage Room 18. Use of SCP-×××× granted to Level-1 and higher personnel for no more than five (5) seconds, and no less than one (1) month apart with prescription from a site medical professional.

Description: SCP-×××× is a standard collapsible umbrella standing 92cm in height, and spanning a diameter of 100cm when fully deployed. When used during standard precipitation including rain, snow, and hail, the umbrella will keep the area directly below it, up to approximately six meters, entirely dry, even from non-precipitous sources, such as a garden hose being sprayed at the subject from the side or below.

Beyond this, SCP-×××× will prevent any form of projectile from entering it's cylinder of influence. Anything dropped onto the subject from above will lose the majority of it's inertia upon entering a distance of one meter of the umbrella, and bounce off of it to fall harmlessly onto the ground. Testing of this affect has included, and failed, with: pebbles, rocks, boulders, bullets, shards of SCP-409, photonic weaponry (though non-threataning light waves enter and exit as normal), sonic weaponry (same as photonic), and explosive missile-based weaponry (shrapnel and explosive force is negated at well).

Note that SCP-×××× does not protect the subject from any form of harm, as non-projectile based weaponry passed through as normal, including bladed and blunt force attacks.

Addendum-××××-1: SCP-×××× appears capable of deflecting metaphysical and incorporeal entities, as well as ideological "projectiles." Subjects insulted or otherwise emotionally attacked report no effect. See experimentation log for details.

Experiment-××××-1: Subject D-60231, who is documented as being senstive about the size of his nose, was placed within SCP-××××'s influential range. Researcher Dr. P████ made several exaggerated observations in the presence of the subject, such as "Your nose is large enough to be a containment cell for SCP-169," and, "Your nose is bigger on the outside than SCP-108's is on the inside." Subject D-60231 reported no emotional effect. The experiment was repeated without SCP-××××, resulting in Dr. P████ being admitted to the medical ward.

Experiment-××××-2: Subject D-93422, recently diagnosed with clinical depression, was placed within SCP-××××'s influential range. Subject reported renewed energy, as if "the rain clouds [were] finally leaving." Symptoms of depression in D-93422 returned approximately two months after the experiment.

Experiment-××××-3: Subject D-11987, sibling of D-20394 (expired during an event with SCP-682) was shown security footage of the event in question while in the influential range of SCP-××××. Subject expressed no negative emotions. Experiments repeated without SCP-×××× evoked the the expected response.

Addendum-××××-2:At the request of Dr. V████, use of SCP-×××× has been granted to any Level-1 personnel, provided a prescription from a Foundation medical professional. We realize the nature of much of our work causes some unfortunate effects on the psyche, and amnestic treatment is too expensive for every day use.
