Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, MTF raids are to be regularly conducted upon US Mail Service warehouses and vehicles. All SCP-XXXX related activities are to be overseen by Dr. Markoff at all times. Should the exposure period be over 5 years, the individuals are to be contained in standard humanoid containment chambers under the classification of SCP-XXXX-A.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a collection of anomalous letters displaying memetic properties. All instances of SCP-XXXX originate from a remote location within rural Kansas. The letters appear to be separated within a number of categories, letters within the same category having similar writing styles, fonts, authors and packaging. The only common features between different series of letters is the lack of finger prints, DNA samples, the return address and the logo of a "Soulworks Paper & Office Supplies" stamped on the back of each envelope. There is no evidence of this corporation ever existing. The language in which the letters are written depends on the native language of the recipients.
The anomalous effect of SCP-XXXX manifests upon reading the contents of the letter. Individuals affected by SCP-XXXX display an interest in maintaining correspondence with the author of the letter. Depending on the exposure period, the individual may develop different symptoms, including insomnia, anorexia, heliophobia, schizophrenia etc. While individuals affected by SCP-XXXX share a number of symptoms, there is no definitive pattern to be noticed.
In order for SCP-XXXX to begin the correspondence phase, an individual must send a letter to the return address noted on the envelopes. The process through which the address is found is yet to be determined. See Addendum XXXX-1/-2.
Replications of the contents of any SCP-XXXX instance, regardless of the medium in which they are stored, do not exhibit any anomalous properties.
